Unless you meant the comparison as a good thing, and the "not going so well" referred to the bugs and/or the reception by the gaming community at large.
reports still say the game is tehcnically challenged. A shame, because its not worth playing until those issues are fixed and by that time it will be nearly impossible for anyone to make a guild that will have any chance of getting a keep without a large force in the game and a friend guild that already owns a keep.
According to who? I'm having fun, and the game is improving rapidly. So much has been added in the 3 months since launch.
I couldn't agree more. I'm having tons of fun. My guild mates are having fun and it's only getting better patch by patch. I can't wait for the texture updates.
Never trust a screenshot or a youtube video without a version stamp!
That isn't what all other information we are exposed to suggests. What would be very helpful is for you to list all the issues and for each one explain how exactly it is improving. The game was a complete broken mess when I left and each patch appears to break more things and things claimed to be fixed in patches in fact, are not. So just saying "game is improving" doesn't really say very much.
Even reading the posts in the subscriber only forum from the very few that are still playing does not seem to support these claims of the "game is improving". In fact there is a poll suggesting the devs stop adding stuff until they fix the game since all that happens when stuff is added is the game becomes even more broken. It sounds good to say "adding lots of stuff" but if it is on top of a broken foundation, it just becomes another source of frustration, although it does allow fans to hype the game by saying "they are adding tons of stuff".

There are still problems and balance issues, but the rate at which they are being worked on is good for me.
From what I can see in 3 months, I think in 6 more months it will be top notch (Which was my estimate 8-12 months after release)
Its not perfect don't get me wrong, but there is no doubt its improving... Those who say otherwise are trolls - Although it might not meet people's standards as of yet (It barely meets mine), the progress is undeniable.
EDIT: Also with the long awaited EPIC patch, it should see some substantial improvements within the month. (They were really restricted without it.)

If it's not up to your standards yet simply give it another few months, the game is improving rapidly.
In what way?
If you mean http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultima_Underworld:_The_Stygian_Abyss , it was an awesome game. I'm unclear how it would remind you of that and be disappointing.

Theres still problems no doubt.
But if you head over to : http://www.mortalonline.com/forums/old-patch-notes/ you can see there has been so much done to the game since release.
