As much as I like the harvesting and crafting classes, it has no other draws for me compared to other titles like Fallen Earth or LOTRO. Thanks, but no thanks.

I definitely will not be playing this half-assed, craptastic, pathetic excuse for an MMORPG. Square Enix has failed me for the last time.

Before anyone tries to tell me it's just beta, or, they'll eventually fix these issues, or my all-time favorite, "MMORPGs are never finished!"

This is the same crap they spewed out for the failures such as...

    RF Online

    Age of Conan

    Warhammer Online

    Aion

    Champions Online

    and Star Trek Online.

Were those games any good? No. You know why? Because they don't know how to make a video game. Their games were TOTALLY void of any polish, they chose to ignore their beta testers' feedback to improve the game, and their business died as a result. The same thing will happen with FFXIV, as it was made very cheaply.

    Yes.

After playing the OB,i fell in love with the game.

    The graphics are amazing,the combat,at least as a Conjurer,is hard and challenging,if i screw it up,i die.

Loved the first quest, too bad there is only 1 avaible at OB,another reason to buy the game.

After exploring,i found a cave with Bandits,so that confirms that we won't be hunting rats and dodos untill lvl 50.

The UI is great with an XBOX 360 Controller.

This is my first SE game.

I answered yes. But I might wait one more month, depending on how Square Enix improves their game. So far they've been releasing patches on a near daily basis, so I'm looking forward to some overall improvement. But the last day of OB will likely be the deciding factor.

Nonetheless, I've been really enjoying the game so far.

Yes. Will play both FFXIV and Fallen Earth until TOR comes out most likely.

What about the most successful MMO of all time. WoW was not polished at all when the game first came out. Anyone who played it then will remember looting corpses and being stuck in the loot position and you would slide around in that same, knelt down position until somehow you got lucky and returned to normal. That was just one of the many problems when WoW came out. It seems to be doing pretty good now.

Now I'm not saying FFXIV will have the success of WoW, in fact I would almost guarantee it won't considering its much more difficult. But you really can not call a game a failure until sometime after launch. Probably 6 months to a year is when you really could say, "yea this game failed." And even then that might be a bit early.

You have no idea what the hell you are talking about, just because an MMO isnt what YOU expected it to be doesnt make it a failure.

The only failure in the MMO world was tabula rasa, auto assult, dark and light, gods and heroes.

Aion is on its first expansion, age of conan is on iits second, champion online is on its first, rf online has been running as long as WoW has, enough people play these games to keep it going, just because it doesnt have a million subs doesnt make it a failure

    NO!

I've decided not purchase FFXIV after playing open beta.  The major issue for me is the horrible interface, laggy mouse pointer, horrible framerate, and grinding.  I enjoy the beautiful scenery, armor, and characters.  The game has tons of potential, but its not ready for PC launch.  It almost feels like PC launch is going to be extended beta for PS3.  I suppose if I had a gamepad to play with it would be easier to manage, but I'm ready to stab myself with a pencil over the horrible UI.

So I've decided to hold off for now and see if things improve.  I hope nothing but the best for FFXIV, but I don't think its for me.

Past: EQ, EQ2, DAoC, SWG, WoW, LotR, VG, WAR, GW, GW2, Rift
    Present: The Elder Scrolls Online
    Future: Everquest Next

well... i cant afford to run this game. i would need to buy a new GPU, and i work low ammounts shifts for minimum wage. and i still need to pay off my collage dues.

this game needs heavy opimization done to it. i can hardly play it at the "ugly" setting. let alone low. i have to put the buffer at half resolution to make it run at a playable speed. but that just makes it so ugly i dont want to even touch it.

they wont get much of a playerbase on the pc with those requirements.

  • SlytheSlythe Member UncommonPosts: 952

The game looks great visually, the animations are very well done, but the horribly laggy mouse and overall crap interface have totally killed any desire for me to play it. Plus I don't like a game dictating how much I can progress in the class that I want to play, but let's not get into THAT here.

Whoever plays though, have fun! I hope they fix that mouse issue soon for you.

  • BTrayaLBTrayaL Member UncommonPosts: 624

I've just uninstalled the Beta, and that was free. Is this a good enough answer?

No, I wouldn't play the game even if it were free, much less to pay for it. It was developed for consoles only, and the PC users are just an after-thought.

While I think this could be one, if not the, best looking game graphic wise and even...feature wise, I just can't see myself playing it.

i was really exicited about this game but the few days playing beta really dissapointed me

the game is so slow and everything you do takes so much time it's just a time sink with little fun (FFXI was way faster and more fun)

I decided to wait a month after release to see how things work out and then maybe join avoiding the massive lag fest at the begining :P

     Fair comments friend.

I dont think the pace of the game will change at all though as it's intentional. I think the game will be a huge time sink but as i'm never in a hurry to get to end level tec thats fine with me. i will give it a week or so in beta before i decide if the game is for me or not.

On another note. i dont get what all this mouse lag is? i didn't actually notice any difference in my mouse speed or reaction from any other games. has this been fixed or am i missing something? ok my mouse isnt as fast as it is in COD but then why would it need to be. but mine seems responsive enough and moves across the screen the same as any other game i play.

No. Might try it after a few months if the controls and UI are changed.

WOW, I thought FF XI is slow, but FF XIV is even slower ???

After trying OB, I canceled my order.  After wrestling with the download, and having to log in and wrestle with the bad story, the bad cut scenes, the bad character creater the bad lag, the bad controls and the absolutely terrible UI, I just don't feel like this game is going to be worth investing any more of my time and money in to.

This game may have been acceptable 10  years ago, but it's design reeks too much of the kind of "You'll play this game MY way and like it, because I'M the one way being paid the big bucks to make games for a living!" attitude that seems to be neutering alot of Japanese games lately, especially anyone that even comes close to the internet environment.

Too much competition coming out... I'd rather save my money for Guild Wars II or something else then try and force myself to like Final Fantasy XIV.

I don't see anyone outside of die hard FFXI players really enjoying this game that much, and quite honestly, I enjoyed FFXI quite a bit more.

Yes SE made a game and expects you to play within a set structure and rules. Not to mention a game you find visually unappealing. I guess this means its not for you. Your monthly charge will be greatly missed. But we understand you have principles. We understand that you won't feel the need to post on the FF14 forums anymore either, but thats to be expected since the game isnt a good fit for you.

Right now I’m leaning toward NO. I have beta tested a lot of game and sure every game has had its own list of problems. But I was able to download the product and not spend 3 days trying to get it downloaded. Between the client patch problems and the beta tester web site issues this game is not giving me a warm and fuzzy. Don’t get me wrong I did not expect to enter a beta to see a completely polished game but I would have expected the client and beta tester site to be in somewhat of an operational state. If this is what’s in store for the game you can count me out.
