With my new laptop I still cannot play the game like i would like too. The game runs so bad on a higher end laptop I just get frustrated. I'm not much for desktops since I'm always moving place to place. I don't care to play on my desktop either I enjoy sitting in bed. So I guess i'll just have to quit FFXI and wait for FFXIV (hope it runs) or just play AION which I know runs great already.

You're probably long gone by now but if you can't fun FFXI and can run Aion then something is wrong. Any PC these days can run FFXI so Id check your settings.
First of all, this was a necro post for the most part that answered little.
Secondly, the problem is a tough fought battle to find the correct driver from the past that will allow FFXI to run properly. Which might also have the added downfall of screwing over your newer games, which gets annyoing very fast.

angry lil bugger arent ya!! if you comp cant play a 8 year old game but run aion a new game ur pc has isusse my 4 year old labtop lays ffxi and can even launch aion so id realy get that looked at .
