Your BEST and WORST moment in a MMORPG!

I thought this would be fun for everyone! So I decided to make this thread. Do you have a really GOOD,AWESOME,INCREDIBLE moment that is all so memorable with a mmorpg. Also what is your worst. The one moment where you feel completely USELESS, DEVOID,RIPPED... If so this post is for you! Please feel free to post yours here!

My Best Moment: I played WOW for 3 and a half years. Was a raider for 2 of those years. But my Glory came when I made a hunter on Dalvengyr(PVP server). After leveling to 70 of which 60% were through pvp battles. I recieved notice from multiple players that I was named the BEST open field PVPer on that server(I often wondered why enemy groups of players would make a effort to avoid me if I was passing through.). This was from multiple alliance and horde guilds. I was a Horde BE hunter. Was a proud moment for me in WOW. My most cherishable achievement. It did not help that I took out a whole group of equal level players by myself :-D But by far thats my best!

 

My Worst moment. Of course my worst moment only happened about 3 months ago in EVE. I belong to a small but rich corp. Our corp settled into a system within a wormhole. Well, a well organized pirate corp found us. They set up warp dissapaters, jammers and took out at least 500 billion ISK worth of stuff. I lost around 120-150billion ISK on that one mistake! By far the worse experience I have had within a mmorpg. Was both humiliating and a terrifying experience. As I was the only one at the wormhole loc when they arrived.

    Best: collecting crocodile meat to raise my lowbie halfling cook's baking skill in the troll swamp zone on a good vs evil PvP server while listening to about 20 ebil players chatting in zone.

     

    Worst: falling down a hole in Befallen into a bunch of red mobs and realising after numerous deaths the only way out was through a locked door.

    Best: Just relaxing and having fun with friends.  Two specific incidents come to mind:


    1. Years ago in EQ - I played a Shaman and buddy who ended up being a RL friend played a Druid.  We established a fantastic pattern for leveling up off underwater goblins when Kunark first came out.  We spent hours underwater, just hanging out, slaughtering goblins, chatting, etc.. - it was a blast . We still keep in touch periodically to this day.

    2. Farming a dungeon boss in Dungeon Runners only to find out one of my team mates was the lead dev.  We also ended up becoming RL friends

    Worst: The day I quite EQ - my wife stormed into the room at about 2 AM and gave me an ultimatum.  Her or the game...Too bad I didn't have this chart at the time...  It might have helped!

    Best moment- A in game wedding to a real relationship in WoW, we didn't last long IRL, but that doesn't change the fact that in game, it was fantastic.  this was during wotlk so everyone was 80, but me and the guild I ran had the wedding in onyxia's lair(prior to her boost to a real raid boss).  We had a really nice ceremony, and then we all ran and killed onyxia in our tuxedo/dresses.  Everyone had such a good time, and it was just... nice.

     

     

     

    Worst moment- This is a hard one....  I was running my own RO server(BAD BLADIN!) like 10 years ago. I had on average 30 players online with about 100-200 active players.  Not that bad.  But I was always active and worked with my players to make the server interesting and fun.

    Well, I had a couple GM's which had a good time and well i got too close to one of them, me and her got along well, maybe too well, and I sorta flirted too much and she became way too attached to the server(and me).  And when i finally couldn't host the server anymore due to computer issues, she began to cry over msn to me, making suicide threats, and other horrible things thatd shed do to herself for me to open the server again.  I felt so bad, i caved in once, but my computer started to do the same thing again and again, and finally broke for good, I finally come back online, and i have a email from her, saying that she loved me, and that, since i had chosen to take it away from her, she was going to just give up in her life(i dont want to make her look too bad, but just so you guys don't laugh, or think shes retarded or crazy, she had some severe issues caused by her parents and "friends" that caused her to sorta retreat online, and i guess she found my server as a sanctuary, from the torture and misery she suffered from on a daily basis).  She never got on msn again, and she never responded to any emails.

    Best moment? Hmmm...

    Venturing into Molten Core for the first time in WoW classic. That was pretty impressive back that day. 40 people cheering in voice chat because they downed the first trash mobs. :)

     

    Worst?

    Probably the groups you meet in WoW using that dungeon finder tool.

    Best: there are 2;  Getting to cap in CoX the first time (my first capped toon in an mmo) and  finally after much rep grinding and before WoLK came out (so I was 70 and could not get rep easy like when I got my nether drake) getting my Netherray mount and proudly wearing my new Skyguard Tabard.

     

    Worst:  this was not in game but was very disappointed with WAR and in my self for not going back to Vanguard hope after I get a better rig it is still around so I can play it.  

    Outside of a dog, a book is man's best friend. Inside of a dog it's too dark to read.

    BEST:  Being in the launch of at least a decent MMORPG with lots of people.  The excitement of a new game and practically everyone on a clean slate.

    WORST:  Being in a disastrous launch of an MMORPG that shows little to no signs of improvement.  The worst is when you see the big crowd of players leave in droves in the span of a month.  That's gotta be embarassing for the dev team.

    Best moment: actually happened on the forums, not in-game itself  - there was an event puzzle that (unknown to anyone playing) was secretly hinting that a new expansion was coming.  Because of timidity/inexperience I couldn't actually run the guantlet to the puzzle myself, but I participated in the forum brainstorming sessions and ended up being the first person to find the announcment website.

    Worst moment: seeing griefing in a game (don't want to give a shout-out to any one event, but people who draw pleasure from causing distress to others worry me in ways that go far beyond the game at hand)

    Good thread, even persuaded a consumate lurker like myself to post,

    All my best/worst moments were in the first 2 years of EQ.

    No game has ever come close to evoking proper emotional responses since.

    Im still looking for another game that recreates that but I think ill be looking till the day i die.

    Naked corpse runs, genuine fear of dying, the elation of dropping the golden ring for the paw of oppola quest after an 11 hour camp. Genuine fear as my group plastered itself to the walls in Unrest amongs a host of red and yellows.

    If I have to choose the best nad worst then Ill plump for these 2.

    BEST - Being presented with a rare +5 wis necklace by my guidmates, they knew I wanted it for my druid and camped it for me . I literally had tears in my eyes.

    WORST - Pinching a 24 hour timed spawn from a guy who I knew had been camping it for several hours. I still have a clear memory of what that poor guy said to me and how bad I felt after. I wanted to give the quest loot item to him but I couldnt cos it was No Drop. 10 years on and I still feel guilty about this.

    EQ wasnt perfect I know and a lot of its charm was because it was one fo the first but God how I loved that game.

    best: hitting GM fishing in UO after months of almost non-stop fishing :) (man that felt good in those days)

    worst: Getting killed in UO and seeing someone looting your kriss of vanquishing.....sad day :)

    Best:

    1. The months I spent helping to run a wormhole corp in Eve. I got lucky and a ton of people in the corp were fantastic people and ended up being great friends. I still regret quitting the crop then quitting the game after I got bored going solo. 

    2. Fighting zergs in daoc in an 8 man extension group, and winning or at least killing a ton of them before dying. 

    Worst:

    1. Realizing that (a) no mmo is going to be as fun as mmo's used to be back in the day because the novelty is gone, and (b) that despite (a), mmo companies today are still dropping the ball and failing to produce games worth playing. 

    2. Like the first, trying trial after trial after trial, and even finding some good games but that are ghost towns.

    Best:

    1. My first MMO months in WoW. I had never played an MMO before, so everything about the genre was new and exciting. I started only a few days after WoW's launch, so everything was new and fresh for everyone. Lots of good memories.

    2. My first weeks in LotRO. I'm a huge Tolkien nerd, so it was cool to see different places I had read about. That all came crashing down with the Moria expansion though.

    3. My first weeks in Darkfall. It was the first MMO I played where there was a real sense of danger and a sting to losing. Some of my highest highs and lowest lows happened in DF.

    Worst:

    1. Realizing how big of a mistake it was to buy the CE of AoC. The game was  a major letdown and the community was horrible. I lasted 1 month and couldn't take it anymore.

    2. In a few vanilla WoW raids, while I was learning the routines, I would accidentally aggro groups which would sometimes lead to raid wipes. That happened a few times in MC, once in BWL, and once in AQ. All the times sucked.

    Best:

    - Giant battles of Planetside during the first 3 months of launch.

    - Entering SWG for the first time and being totally lost, the first MMO that felt like a true online world.

    - All the grouping that was done in EQ2 beta.

    - Dead Mines in WoW

    Worst:

    - SOE ruining Planetside with CC expansion.

    - SOE ruining SWG with many updates, the worst being JTLS, Jedi, RotW, CU and NGE.

    - SOE saying EQ2 would launch in two weeks, even though the game wasn't ready.

    - Blizzard putting Battlegrounds into WoW killed world PVP

    My best moment in an MMORPG must be the moment when I discovered the joys of playing in a group.

    I'd just picked up City of Heroes, had no intention of getting into playing with other people, I just wanted a solo game that had people in the background to give it a bit more life.  I tried a few hero designs, and eventually fell in love with a few, and I'd gotten one (Dark/Dark Defender) to the requisite level to do Atta, which can be a looooong and difficult teaming-oriented mission for newbies (if you don't know what you are doing).  By this time I'd dipped my toe in the waters of teaming, and found them not as scary or intimidating as I thought they'd be (I thought everyone would laugh and point :) ), and it was starting to "click" what MMOs were all about.  One day late in the evening I got into a team of fellow newbies who were doing Atta.  It went on for something like 3 hours, just one intense, continuous, eternal battle.  By virtue of the difficultly, we HAD to pull together as a team, and learn what each other was doing, and fit in with it.  Suddenly, as I'd developed some skill controlling my own character, I was able to look around and see what other people were doing - and enjoy the spectacle.  I started my DDD before some nerfs to her abilities, and I at that time was able to hold feared 3 big groups aggroed from different tunnels at a tunnel junction.  Glorious!  The power!  The feeling of really helping my team out by doing this!

    The worst moment is also from City of Heroes, when we were in a hostage mission (a famous early one that you get a badge from), and I'd been goofing off, and chatting away, when I suddenly realised the team seemed to be agitated at me for some reason.  It transpired I "had" the hostage, but had been blissfully unaware of it while chatting about this and that, wasting everybody's time.  The shame!

    BEST:
    City of Villains - As my 50 brute, Xero Chance, I remember when I soloed Back Alley Brawler, Synapse, and Lady Liberty, all at the strongest that they get in the game. Not all at the same time, although that would have been more impressive. BABs is one tough son of a bitch.

    WORST: (TIE)
    World of Warcraft - I spent a good solid part of a year leveling up an undead warrior only to get hacked and all my items deleted. I was just ready for ICC 10 or 25. I wanted to slay the Lich King, not only for myself but for MY BEST FRIEND FOR 14 YEARS WHO HAD TO LEAVE FOR AFGHANISTAN after he was deployed. We leveled up together, my warrior and his hunter. That character had special sentimental value to it. The worst part of it all is that all of this IS reversible, BUT I spent SEVERAL WEEKS trying to call Blizzard support just to get my account unlocked enough to find my items gone, then I spent a total of 3 DAYS AND NEARLY 8 HOURS A DAY just sitting around Undercity, completely broke and gearless, with an open ticket in-game to get ahold of a GM to get my stuff back. They never contacted me. I gave up.

    Final Fantasy XI - I spent a good solid week grinding nearly 12 hours a day just in order to level up the first few levels just so I could go team up with people, only to be DENIED ENTRY BY ALL TEAMS because I chose Thief class. You know what, f* them, I'm a better melee DPS than all of them put together.

    Best: When I ran from that Dodo in Dark & Light and realizing there are no zone borders decided to use the physics build in. I had a glider in my backpack and Dodos can't fly so I turned towards the nearest mountain. It nearly got me as running uphill slowed me down but I managed to stay a bit ahead. Found a little ledge to catch a current, jumped, glider open - hand up in front of the PC "Hah!" - and got smashed against the mountain wall.

     Because I had forgotten about the angle of the up-currents which pushed me against the stone. And I was dead nevertheless. Still I'll never forget that, it was great.

     

    Worst: The announcement of EQ2X with the removal of the trial from EQ2. So no more new players on the subscription-only servers except you invite them by the recruit-a-friend system. I've invited all people who'd be interested and even offered invitations on forums to get new players. But most try it randomly and this is now not possible anymore. I had set up a big how-to-play-EQ2 wiki a year ago and spent much time filling it with all the up-to-date game mechanics information translated into german language as there is little help for german speaking players in this very complex game. I had planned to release the page end of the year. But now ... EQ2X means drying out my server by deliberately removing the trial for that one and no transfer from EQ2X to EQ2. I plain can't support this product because of this and have no more motivation to play since than. Been in EQ2 since 2005 so that is a huge blow. :(

    Played: Pretty much any fantasy MMO, some did not even make it to release ...

    Best:  Had alot of fun scaming people outa fungi tunics in EC tunnel on EQ1/kunark era.  Which i sold to local players for 150-400$ per.

    Gaming in general was more fun back then, people with computers were still considered "nerds" and it was all very niche.  The average kid then (age 8-17) just had a playstation1, no computer in their households. (so we didnt have all these derps and wowkiddies runing around).

     

    Worst: I didnt realize it at the time, but the two week period where WoW and EQ2 came out.....  Warcraft because it was the end of hardcore gaming, (which i loved) and the start of years of nothing but WoW-clones. EQ2 because it was the end of the everquest era (with the EQ2 disaster).

    My best so far was setting up a POS and a planetry collony in wormhole space and then seeing the second carrier built for that systems defence and knowing because of the type of wormhole we have capital ships like carriers cant enter giving ower defence a nice boost!!!!!

     

    Worst moment was in the early days of a diferent corp when the CEO basically told us one day that his security Director has basically just liquidated all ower assets and ran off. image

    BEST:

    1) Everyone likes free stuff: Having my brother kill my PK when he had over 200k+ bounty reward and turning it in. Then buying a castle with the $.

    2) Free Ports: Offering free ports to Brit in Deciet, then having the ports go to a deserted island filled with 2 poison elementals, 1-3 balors, and 6 skeleton bone knights. (all trapped by magical flour sacks and a friend that was GM hiding that removed the barrier sack.

    3) Lucky Day: Looting a body on my PK findign a rune and a key.... huh, I say... nahh no way hes that retarded... was he EVER. The rune recalled me infront of a CASTLE whose entrance was BLOCKED by 3 houses on all sides. I spent the next 8 HOURS looting NON STOP with my blue char. Recall to stone, loot till full, recall to brit, recall to my house, deposit. Recall to brit, recall to castle. Group of 6 shows up outside the castle after ive looted all the vanq, power, silver, force, invuln, fortified, regents, rares, and was down to the ruin etc. (seriously a SHI*TON of loot). I cast Recall (KAL ORT POR) and hover over my rune for brit.  Group leader says "uhhh who are you?" Me: "Oh I'm the moving guy" *click*

    4) Polar Bear Power: Summoning a pet, commanding pet to guard the doors on deciet's lower dungeon entrance, casting invis on pet. Having peopel flag off of door then killing and ninjalooting em. THEN having a GM show up, lecture me, and after I tell him that Im not doing anything wrong, and its all in the games mechanics, and FURTHERMORE it flags it appropiately for the players if they have their flags on, the GM's removed all the doors and placed them deep in the walls.

    5) No honor amongst murderers: Making a fellowship with a fellow murderer where we split the booty 50/50. He decidesd to cut me a key to his place i do the same for him. He then says hes going on vacation for a couple days to his moms. I do the LSB (Loot Skoot Boogey), recut my key, and take the good stuff. He comes back and we have house fights for hours upon hours (training reapers and mobs that casted inside buildings due to bugs etc on each other, sabotaguing one another etc.

    6) Oops!: teaching a friend how to play UO he wanted to be a ninja, i start him with 50 snooping and 50 stealing, we run to Despise and I show him the lay of the land. We find 2 Great Lord (highest honor you could be in the game) with suits of green full plate each (VERY rare and GM quality) VERY $$$$$$$. He hides, i tell him to go SLOWLY to the first guy, they're busy chattign about potential PK's coming soon. He gets to guy #1, i show him how to snoop. wow... These guys are DEDICATED. this dude has 8 Greater explosion potions on him. (40-50 dmg each) with a max hp in the game of 100 hp 110 with a wierd boost of idk why.... I ask him to take the mouse quickly. He oblidges. I click 1 target guy #2 then do another 2 in rapid succession. all the guy #1 sees is 3...3...3...2...2..2..1...1..1... then 3 potions, which looks like lag of 1, thrown at guy #2 feet. Guy #2 dies horrifficly. then as Guy #1 turns to face me and says WTF DUDE!?!?!  I click all 5 of the other potions and run like (#@%&;%. he chases for 3 steps and sees above his head 3.......3.....3.....3....3.... 2...2...2..2..2.. 1..1..1..1...1... last words were, o fu(k. (because i hadnt targeted anything, they had no target and would explode where they were then placed. He died too, i showed him how to loot fast, we then hid, and logged. Later we walked back to town with his char... one full dex bar at a time XD

    Never LOL'ed so hard or had so much fun while gaming as with these moments... GFDIT I miss UO.

     

    WORST:

    1) Carebear Syndrome: When Trammel was introduced and everyone played 'nicey nice' Turned UO's sandbox anything could happen mode into PVE ONLY.

    2) Stat Loss: When my PK died with 25% stat/skill loss, then ressed at the shrine after checking 10 min for gankers to res at, then getting ganked by 10 thieves in purple robes, all of which were part of the Barney Patrol guild. Then suffering another 25% loss. Losing 25% was fine i got chased down by 3 peole and i was PISSED but I accepted it. Losing an additional 25% because there was no grace period? Not so ok. I think i kicked my tower for that one and cracked the front pannel to which I later blamed on the vaccum cleaner X+D

    3) When i realized how much Blademaster class sucked in DAOC... PPL would only have me in the class if my brother (a Warden) and highly wanted for the bubble ability said they HAD to take me if they wanted him. Sad part? it worked. :(
