Hardware Mouse Fix

Apparently someone found that SE is/at some point working on adding a hardware mouse mode, here's how to turn it on:

Yeah they said they are working on it, but it prob wouldn't be in for launch.  Maybe it will though.  Great to see it is in in some form.

It seems by that thread that the function of a hardware mouse already was in the game, just not enabled (or something like that anyway).. To buggy or coming at a later time or what? ... :-)

This is neat. But yeah, they were working on it. I mean, they made one for XI. I would think one for XIV would come out eventually. Even if it's not really in yet. I wonder if some of the complaints will change now?

Yea, apparently all he did was turn it on.

Perhaps something SE was turning on later or something, not sure.

Alright, I'm no programer so someone break this down for me please.

Hardware mouse is an umemulated mouse yes? It just accepts data straight from the mouse, no middle man?

Software mouse is basically a mouse emulator that takes input, translates it and then sends it to the program, right?

If so, why is it so hard to get a hardware mouse working.

They will change... to something else.  At least around here.  Do you see the people that complain?  They have been running around complaining about multiple things for weeks now after already saying they won't be playing or buying the game.  If they haven't stopped now they won't stop until another game comes along they can complain about.

My guess is that SE has a lot of code backing syncing from network to display.  It is the way they try to make their game work on as many machines as possible and all over the world.  There is probably some deep background code that would effect numerous systems and they don't have time to test that right now.

There is a bit more to it, but hardware mouse skips the software latency.  Software mouse translates the coordinates through the game code and heartbeat so if the player lags or slows down the mouse translation is affected.  I imagine they will have hardware mouse in before long though.  Who knows it may be in for launch.

    Yeah, I guess you're right.

That makes more sense now, thanks.

Seems to be working fine for me, SE should just make this official and enable it at least for release if you ask me.
