and I dont mean the difficulty of the actual game I mean the whole UI, the Combat, etc it just seems more of a pain in the ass than it should be.
Its a console game being ported to the pc as a cash cow. Dont expect it to change.
exactly right Kar! you hit it on the head with that one. And thrall? You know what they say; if you cant stand the heat, trot that little butt outta th kitchen. :P

Why must you be such an ass about a simple statement? Kar did a good job replying, why did you choose to be a retard? How about you troll your little butt back to the 'respect' section of the book store..self help goes a long way to being a better and more decent human being.
I didn't find it difficult at all. Maybe it's because I chose to use this time to learn how to play, read what was available and take my time?
I dunno, but even the UI didn't seem as bad as the threads on the forums make it sound.
You learned how to make skills show up in the menu without having to retry and wait forever?
You dont like it skeaser? Well thats ok. I guess we won't be seeing you in game or on these FF14 forums anymore. Totally understandable no hard feelings though.

It's the talking point of the week here at MMORPG, just like space combat being a rail shooter in TOR was before that, prior to that, FF's fatigue system. Prior to that.. you get the idea.
Nothing is as bad as some make things seem to be on this website.

Belarion "The Great FF XIV Defender" should be an ingame title by now. Roaming from one FF XIV thread to another taking jabs at those who have an opinion or statement. Grats on the title bro.

Since they went the dual class route, they will deffinately need to develop a better method for swapping skills/gear. Probably something along the lines of how WoW does duel specs and equipment manager.
I'm no programmer, but it seems to me it would have made sense to add a "save actions layout" button that saves the actions you have set up. Then just pick which layout you wish to load after swapping class.
So in the mean time, it looks like the best way is to set up macros, as was pointed out in the sticky here.
Selling stuff (to vendor) needs to be improved too. I realized I was close to full bags just picking up junk here and there and it took me an excessively long time to get rid of it.

I hear that because everything is so menu heavy , simple tasks seem to take a inaporpriate amount of time. Which sort of activities are like that? Selling to vendor? Clicking on a retainer and buying from him , i heard in a podcast. Do you think they can simplify the process or do you think that its just the way its going to end up because they wont be able to come up with simplier command structures for those actions?

There's quite a number of them. Some are supposedly going to be fixed by the addition of emote commands, but not all. Some tedious processes:
To get a description of what your stats do, you need to find a crystal, and navigate through the help menues to find a paragraph on battle mechanics.
To use their equivelant of the AH, you need to go into market zones (yes zones, plural) and walk through 100 or so individual player's merchandice with no visible clues as to what they are selling. Also they don't all load at once on screen, so you have to wait for them to load a handful at a time.
Do to menu response times, equiping equipment &skills are also a pain without the use of macros (which also take some time to setup).
If they improve the UI response (for both controller and keyboard / mouse) I think it will make it a bit easier to access, which will mask some of the problems with the UI a lot better.
Also crafting is clumsy to do at best. Lots of navigating back & forth through slow to update menus. The game needs a bin for crafting supplies, so you can choose to only deal w/ your crafting materials while crafting. (unlike FFXI you tend to have a lot more equipment in your inventory now, due to job changing).

I'm talking about the fact when I open the skill window, there's nothing there, I wait, I close, I reopen, I wait, I close, I reopen, I wait then the skills show up.
I dont have that but when I "equip" a skill from the list, the icon dont show-up until a few sec or until I click on something else. (which doesnt prevent equiping the next skill right away, closing the windows, using the skill or doing whatever else).

Mine doesnt load right either so I dont even bother. My other char's chat box wont scale down and takes up 75% of the screen. No clue why but its been since day one.

Make sure you are selecting your appropiate weapon skill. Your skill list will be empty until you choose Sword or whatever weapon/tool you want to view the associated skills for. It isn't going to show you skills until you tell it what skills you want to see.

No, its a PC game made with controls that can be easily ported to a console. After playing the game for 5mins I got used to the controls using mouse + key board, not just keyboard or game pad. The only thing I found irritating was using the home menu. Combat, talking to NPC, is easy.

It's the easiest game I've played gameplay wise, the hard bit comes in making sense of the UI.
Seems fine to me....
