How do I trade in a failed Guildleve?

in Final Fantasy XIV

So that I can do it again...

.. also in the city i'm on the quest where i'm suppose to go to an arena and fight but i don't what to go.. the cutscene just dropped me off in an instance and nothing is happening...

 

But mostly i'd like to know how i can trade in a failed guildleve to get the quest again... the NPC says I can by talking to him.. but i have had no such luck.

    You can.. 48 hours after completing or failing your first guildleve.  When you run out of guildleves that you can do yourself you'll have to group and do other peoples' guildleves or.. wait.

    i think after 48 hours you are able to pick it up again, your best bet would be to find someone who has it to share with you, from what I understand guildleves are not really falling into the quest category but a bidaily repeatable category. As for the instance, check your journal and see if it says there is an npc you need to talk to, talk to every npc there, or try exiting the instance.

    The NPC says I can trade in failed ones to restart the quest... I was asking how I do that?

    Are you saying I have to wait 48hrs before the option to trade it in become available to me?

    Sorry I just didn't understand what you were saying.

     

    edit: Okay thanks I'll try talking to them or finding someone else with the quest. It says it's failed though and doesn't let me do it again which is why i was trying to figure it out.

    So far as I can tell by having waited the 48 hours.. yes.  It doesn't really mean you can trade it in and redo it.  You trade in guildleves to gain bonuses to your next guildleves and also open up those slots to accept new ones.  If you fail one, however.. it seems to be more likely to hand you out that quest again after the 48 hour period instead of a different random one.

    Isnt it 24?  I know they said 48 hours but I can almost swear mine are renewing in 24 hours.

    Yes, it's currently 48h. People talked about 24h, in fact asked it, arguing that 48h is "a bit" long, but that's just it. SE, however, hasn't said anything regarding release (should I say "as usual").

    But 8 leves... And that's it? I mean is that really it?

    So I can do 8 leves per 48h, which is 1 every 6 hours in average... I do hope they raise that limitation for release. Surplus XP, 48h cooldown, I can live with those. But a hard limitation of 8 leves in my Journal per 48 hours? That I just can't.

    Or else they should just stop pretending that there are "quests" in this game and put us to grind already.

    nb: I tried to take leves in several towns, no luck, still limited to 8 overall.
