How much time are you spending in the beta?

kilunkilun Member UncommonPosts: 829

Regardless of whether you decide to buy or not at retail, how much time are you spending in it?

I've spent about 3-4hrs, and probably will another 1 or 2 hours to test out a few more things.  I originally thought I'd spend a great deal of time, but don't see really anything else I need to do to make my choice to purchase it since the issues I have can either be changed for the better or I can work around some lackluster areas.

Probably spent 12-15 hours already.  Though since I know pretty much what I'm sort of used to the world, I'll be playing a little less and simply observing how the patches goes. I plan to buy the game (possible pre-order), will decide about that  by the end of the week.

Played about 4 hours so far, will dabble here and there up to the 22nd and then I'll go full fledge into the CE head start.

My reasoning is basically, I don't want to work on a character just to have it wiped. Like the OP said, I've seen enough to know that I'm happy with my decision to purchase the game and now I just can't wait until launch day.

i stopped playing today, so I'm done with OB, I tested the guildleve system, class skill hybriding, and crafting + explored all 3 starting areas, so I'm content.

I am pretty much in the same boat I have played a lot of hours got me a rank 7 gld, rank 7 mrd, rank 5 miner, and rank 6 armor. I did my part in stress testing. Not a lot more that i want to test, I hate re-doing content, that I have already done. no point in grinding my rear off just to have it wiped in less than 2 weeks.

I see a solid foundation for FFXIV. Theres a lot that SE has to build on here. Thats what still excites me.

Now I just hope the SE can get that nasty server lag fixed then ill be a happy camper.

Waiting for:EQ-Next, ArcheAge (not so much anymore)

I spend maybe 4 hours actually doing stuff, and like 15 hours idling. That was enough for me to get an idea of what the game's like. Still preordering it.

I've probably played about 12 hours, and I have to say that I'm already bored of it. No real desire to play anymore. Not buying it.

Played like 3 hours and have no desire to ever load it again. The loading times are killing me, the game just isnt polished enough for me.

This statement is the reason why anyone that want to buy this game should steer clear from it.

I've played about 12, and i was uterly bored. I don't see myself redoing those guildleve quest over and over and over again to level. I'm not a fan of how quest are now (got kill x mob) rinse and repeat, but crap seriously but some reason as to why i have to kill those mobs and some context to it. There's not even that with guildleve.

Anyways, i was hopeing for a game to keep me entertained but this game as it is right now will keep me bored more then antying.

I think i had more fun and more for my money completing Mafia II in about 15h then playing that game (and i even haven't bought it yet).

At least there's a lot of potentially good games coming out in the next few month that will keep me entertained:

    - Civ 5

    - Uncharted Waters Online

Hell going back to Aion for 2.0 might be 1 billion time for a month then playing this. Anyways if you like the game then good for you, but after FFXIII and now this i think i've lost respect for Square Enix.

  • I played for about 6 hours and uninstalled it. I was really looking forward to this game, but the clunky controls, the fact the game feels like Im a mouse running in a maze looking for cheese. The landscape seems to work against you and its just.. I donno, was really dissapointed. I place FFXI for years so its not that im not used to FF.. *shrug* glad I had the option to try it before I bought it.

What loading times are you experiencing? Only loading time I really feel is the start up of the game.

The Open Beta could've have been complete buggy crap, and I would still commit to my preorder for the collector's edition... Why, you ask? Because I have complete and absolute faith in them, no matter how drastically different the game is, because FFXI was one of my favorite games of all time, and without a doubt the best MMORPG of all time.

I think the actual game system, leveling system, class system are all very good for an mmo.  The bad parts of the beta are the fact that it never tells you what to do, or how to do things, or anything like that so no one ever knows what the hell is going on.

Also, unlike FFXI it doesn't seem like theres really any story quests, just generic quests.  There are some story ones but they seem to be very short and nothing actually happens in them and they have almost no combat whatsoever.  I can only hope that at higher levels, or later in the beta if they havn't implemented it already, they have the instanced story quests from ffxi with bosses and everything.

I think that with the edition of ffxi style story quests and proper tutorials for how to do things this game would be pretty solid (with the exception of the fact it has no pvp and the hardware requirements are pretty insane).
