Take your time to look at these two threads. I'm aware many MMORPG.com readers have not played or seen the ingame look. Some parts of the world are ugly and in need of change but the majority is stunning. As shown above.
Can't wait for high-res textures.

I agree the game looks amazing but its NOT fun to play at all.
BestSigEver :P
He must have worked hard to take those in town shots without someone naked in them. . maybe that has settled down now though. It has been awhile since I have played
The game, for the most part, does look fantastic if you are considering the overall feeling of being in a "world". yes the trees are crap but this will be addressed at some point. I also thing the characters are hideous but maybe that is just me. The world was one of the most immersive I have been in as far as free roaming and exploring etc. Once you get around though it does start to feel a little small.
Great screenshots.
Wa min God! Se æx on min heafod is!
Speaking from personal experience ?
I would say the opposite. Major part of the world is quite ugly and empty and has looked like crap since like Feb 2010 where they introduced mlod, and some parts look great most of which in cities and around.
I would point out the jungle which is mostly a big mash of mixels and meshes.

Relevent section of the recent review on Massively:
Graphics / world design
As I said earlier, the game is running on the Unreal Engine 3. This, of course, makes the game quite beautiful. Well, beautiful when you're looking at it from the right angles, at least. It's like one of those houses that looks great on the front, but when you spin around the side you'll find that a tornado completely took off the back half, leaving the bathtub hanging on to the second floor by a single pipe and the contents of the attic spilled into the basement.
Some areas of the game are truly stunning. An incredible draw distance makes vistas absolutely gorgeous while some of the textures are absolutely dead on. Other times you'll be running along and the water will look like gel, or the shadows will be cast in vertical zebra stripes across a distant mountain.
This is, of course, completely ignoring the fact that the world designers are lazy, lazy people. No one checked to make sure that terrain objects were actually level with the z-scale of the terrain, leaving us with floating bamboo, rocks, tree roots, you name it. Shadows also seem to clip certain objects, leaving you with ghost shadows, or shadows being projected from impossible angles. (You can't see a lantern from through a wall, yet it projects a shadow through that same wall.)
And, speaking of world design, there are stupidly small edges on buildings and such that a character should be easily able to step over while walking, yet the game won't let you. Instead, you need to jump over these small cracks, just because the client thinks they're uncrossable walls on foot. This normally wouldn't be an issue for me, if it didn't happen so much on things like smooth river banks, thin steps inside keeps, and on steps (yes, I said steps) leading to trees.
Also, PlanetSide called. They want their 2000-era trees back. Speedtree, which Star Vault licensed for the game, isn't currently in the game, as they are waiting on Epic Games to patch the Unreal Engine for them so they can use Speedtree. Unfortunately, the stand-in trees look... well... horrible
So yes.. as she says.. if you look at things at just the right angle it can be made to appear great. It's like walking through a reproduction of an old west town... as long as you look at it the right way it looks great, but get up close or change that angle and suddenly you realize that it's just plywood held up by 2x4s from the back...

I'd say you're completely wrong.
I don't doubt it, thing is you proved to be extremely biased towards this game.
Most people, as well as reviewers agree to say there are great looking places, but most part is just empty terrain which looks like its been terrain generated with ugly trees, ugly vegetation, ugly foliage, no shadows, with everything being extremely polygonal and textures which are just tiled and repeated on the same pattern over miles. Water also looks like total shit.
There is another thread on the MO forum where people agree to say its been terrain generated with just a few places which were "hand made" and those are the places that look good.
I think the game looks par, but it's EXTREMELY fun to play.
If you think these graphics look amazing your going to be absolutely blown away with the texture update coming in a couple weeks.
Never trust a screenshot or a youtube video without a version stamp!
The only place which matches all that you stated above is the central steppe which is an open grassy plain with some hills, spider farm / spider cave. The rest of the world is quiet detailed and nicely done. New trees incoming soon, current ones are bareable but not great. I don't think the water looks bad at all, the huge waterfall can look a little off compared to the ocean from a distance however.
Me? Biased? I've stated multiple times that this game needs work on feature A or asthetic B.
This is the first game I have played, that I can honestly say is buggier than original SWG at launch.
Fortunately, I was playing on a friend's acct that got fed up and quit.
I will say, that some of the visuals are nice, in places, but the gameplay is for shaet. And the hackers/exploiters are as bad as I have ever seen.
Glad I didn't pay.
What can say, some people like pain in ass.
OP: as for graphics, tbh I enjoyed graphics in beta lot more, back when we still had an amazing sky.
