There are no switches for elevators, only a exclamation mark on the top of the screen popping up. You can't even click the dumb stone, I forgot what it's called. While the single player aspect of final fantasy is good the multiplayer version is very bad.

Awww, is the game not WoW enough for you? Can't find a quest-giver cause there isn't a gigantic yellow exclimation mark over his head?

    Gamers these days.

No he can't find a quest giver because there aren't any.

I hit level 4 finished the story and it's like uh now what?  Grind?  no thanks.

You may be happy with a shallow grinding game but the majority of gamers are not and right now that seems this is what this game is.

OMG lol you are in a beta. God forbid you cannot play the full game, only test what they want you to have access to! "OMGZ it isnt a fun beta! Mommy!"

I understand why some people don't wanna look at map or try to guess where the next leg of quest begins.

I however am not one of those. I really enjoyed much of Fable II, but that little pathing arrow ont he ground that guides you to the next objective pissed me off.  I look forward to to exploration and memorizing paths by photographic memory.  So when you finally learn those areas, you no longer need map for anything. I can run thorugh many zones in FFXi without watching my map once. Or marking a spawn point or item of interest on my map.

It's like Wal-Mart you got those clerks there who are supposed to know where shit is. But if it's not marked on store aisles, they just give you that blank face when you ask them for help. I want to be able to give actual directions to places, not say open your map and follow the arrow. Because being helpful and communication creates a greater community.

You aren't tourists in a themepark, like WOW. In FF14 you are growing in a virtual world, SE said their motto for FF14 was "growth" . So no you won't be told where to go on your map, you will learn and grow and eventually things you will come to know as second nature and you will feel afterwards like you have grown and accomplished something. (if all pans out Square made most of FF11's core mechanics)

Anywho, if you don't like it play WoW with the poopsocks.

Mmmm honestly I think Japanese devs just care about making a great game that they can be proud of.  Pride, respect, honor are all huge things in Japan.  More so than money.  It isn't like the states where you can lie and make enough money to please the publishers and still have a great job and continue.  *cough*roper..

And you never thought that it's an open beta where they deactivated many of the features? Not to mention that wasn't his complaint. He was complaining that the game isn't WoW-like enough for him and he isn't being led everywhere by the hand and there are no giant yellow exclamation marks visible from space over quest-givers' heads.

I'm wondering did they also deactivate the feature where you can go OUTSIDE of the fixed paths?

If you read my post clearly you would see that I was not complaining about the exclamation mark.  I like the way they don't show a big exclamation mark on top of quest givers.  However, I am forced to go to a stone and activate my quest before I can start it so it kinda defeats the purpose of not having exclamation marks on top of quest givers head. This all leads back to the OP who said that the game is an attempt to virtual reality.

Orlean for the troll and the laughs. Bro seriously stop trolling if you dont like the game dont want to play it move on already. for months now with this bs. These long ass post that try to be genius but fall flat. Every game goes for the same thing your wallet and thats about it. The fact is the fatigue system alone should tell you they didnt want people playing every second but you seemed to miss that. Well whatever I think the game you are literally refering to is second life go look it up.

I agree that this is a virtual world rather than a game.  Because as a game it so far is boring and not challenging or engaging.

As a virtual world, however, it is poorly designed and if stuck there I would have to commit virtual suicide.  I have taken a real deep look into what this game is really made of and what it boils down to is a bad attempt at combining their popular single player RPG with a persistent universe.  I true virtual world wouldn't include picking up all quests from one person in the form of cards, and porting all over the place.  They should call this game Toon Town II seeing that Toon Town offers the same amount of challenge and you can fish there, too.

And for those calling out the trolls, these forums are to hear from all sides and we are not going to just sit here and read posts that attempt to glamorize a game that many of us have had the opportunity to see to truth about first hand.
