Job change system.. No memory of what that job had last? skill wise.

I don't know about you guys but I find it extremly stupid that FF14 does not keep track of what actions you had equiped on your jobs, like say if I went from Pugilist to lancer, i'd have to either use some convolted macro system (writing them) or do it manually, Didn;t square consider putting in some kind of memory system? that auto equips the last skills you had equiped for that job? I kinda expected the game to have this since they were touting how you can change jobs on the fly.

"An MMORPG could be completely diffirent from WoW. Just look at games like Dofus, Wizard101 or EVE. But as it is, most of the Western MMOs are trying to succeed by out-WoWing WoW. It's like an army of 10 sports games made about same sports, and barely none about other sports. WoW clone is an accurate description of those games, it manages to convey much information with only two words."

Yeah its a bit lame. Looks like you either get to spend a few hours setting up macros. Or change actions everytime you switch jobs.

It takes 5 minutes to make the macros nessesary to fix this problem., The macro system is pretty simple and really has no other purpose other then to do this.

    Per job.

I would also hazard a guess that many people don't even know about the macro system.  While you say the macro system is easy and it may well be for you. I would venture that many gamers are unfamiliar with it. They either won't be able to or will choose not to make their own macros.

TBH I don't really understand why it doesn't just save your setups.

I don't either but the fact is it dosen't so those of us who like the game use macros to get around it and it works great and only takes a couple minutes to set up the macros It makes having to do it all manually much much easier and I'm glad someone posted the macro thread to show you how to do it. I like the game but the UI is annoying so what ever i can do with macros to get around the UI I am glad about it I'm not gonna cry about the UI i'm just gonna work around it. They made it horrible we understand now you either like the game or you don't If you like the game macros help if you don't than don't play.

Okay, I gess some people still havent figured this out. This game takes a lot of time. This isn't the easy mode mmo that WoW is. Everything in this game takes longer. Yes, it gets faster as you get more proficient, but initially, be prepared to spend some time figuring stuff out. That's all.

You mean WoW gets its longevity by making ppl farm raids for gear while FF gets it's longevity by making poeple wander around the UI "figuring out" how the game works?

    That must be fun ^^

This has to be the most ignorant and conceded thing I have read in awhile.  You do realize that time does not equal difficulty it equals time sink.  There is no need for people to have to reconfigure their abilities every time they switch jobs and it does not make the game more difficult or mean that the game is not holding your hand.  It just means that the programmers screwed up.   The information can be stored client side so there is no reason for this at all.

There is never a good reason to waste people’s time; before you go off half cocked look up the definition of the word waste.

Also the "this is not WoW" and "go back to WoW" nonsense is tired and no one with an iq above 70 thinks that is a viable response.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.”

Really now, Im a great fan of this game, my posts show this, but this WoW bashing nonsense, and calling "WoW easy and FF the true hardcore" crap just seems to me a bunch of kiddos trying to feel special by playing a new non mainstream videogame...

Just grow up already, guess what, they are both videogames,  we all continue to be the same geeks playing one or the other

Its not easy its convenient. There isn't anything wrong with that.

The FF mentality is based off the notion that hardcore = 99 hour mob camping and 99hours to gain a level.

I'm going to Say I actually dont have the problem of losing all equipped skills when changing jobs. If the skills you have equipped carry over to the job your changing to, the Traits and Abilities you have selected from the previous job will stay equipped. Changing from Conj to Mard for instance, will leave you with spells.

Althought it is a Tad bit annoying to change your whole bar if you change to a Gathering or Crafting Class, it really is a minor set back. I change classes as i am Heading to an From places, you can auto-run and change Skills at the same time. Also Setting up Macros wil become a must for skill sets, Not only on a per Job basis, but on a Per Role and Per leveling location basis. Changing Skills and Traits on the Fly is akin to  WoW's "Respecing" on the fly, it's not always fun to do, but at least it doesnt cost you.
