After Eve-Online, what's next?

JattziaJattzia Member Posts: 3

I've played Eve-Online for 3.5 years. Stopped playing a year ago. Sold everything I had.

Main reason: lack of time after the birth of my 2nd daughter.

Now I'm looking for another MMORPG. I don't want to go back to Eve-Online and start from scratch again. I'm not up to date on what is available right now, so I'm asking for your help

What I'm looking for:

- A game that I can play only a few hours/week and still not fall far behing everybody else.

- A game that offers more than just monster killing and leveling. (I loved the skill training, research, production, mining side of Eve, as well as the PvP part). So I want something that has both world. carebearing / crafting / research / production / stuff gathering as well as PvP / Pirating / PvE / Mission running...

- A game with a strong social part. Corp, Guild, whatever you call it. I'm not much of a solo fan. Voice comm is a major plus.

- A game with a certain level of maturity. I'm a 31 years old woman with 2 young girls. I'm not interested in a bunch of kiddos that only talk crap and ask for cybers*x.

- A newish game or if it' has been out there for a while, a game that I can start playing now and not have the feeling that I'm totally useless compared to the players that have been playing for 2-3-4 years.

- A game that I don't have to log on every night of the week and spend my whole week-end doing corp/guild ops if I want to remain in the corp/guild. Casual play only.

So anything suggestion for me?

    Nothing.

Retire from the genre and join us in single player console/PC retirement home.

Currently the genre is lacking you wil only be disappointed... trust me.

Probably nothing as close to what you descibed. You could still try Fallen Earth trial. It surely isn't just killing things, and the community is pretty mature.

    REALITY CHECK

Perpetuum is another sandbox that wishes it would be Eve when it grows up just like DF & MO.

Maybe with a little more tlc it will be good but not something the OP is after.

Fallen Earth, Vanguard and anything else anyone suggests here would be a massive disappointment to the OP.

The MMORPG genre might as well be renamed  WOW&EVE. because those are your only options if you actually play something else its either due to being tired of those two or being one of those tards that hate everything thats popular just for the hell of it.

I don't know a single MMO where you can be gone for awhile and not fall behind. Especially one similar to EVE.

I was pleasently suprised with EQ2. Its a casual gamer's paradise with plenty of socialization options.

I find that i can spend time solo'ing and quickly camp out to go change a pooy diaper.  When time permits and i finally get my brood to bed I can go LFG and get in a group to go run a dungeon, albeit LFG is a tad rough in the lower levels.

EQ2 is as polished as they come and is full of content.

Some of the posters are sad but correct. There's WoW, Eve, then everything else. I'm in a similar boat. Burned out on WoW, burned out on eve, desparately looking for something to keep my attention during these "starving times" of mmorpg production. Also lacking the time (3 youngin's here!). I'm very close to just restarting EQ and enjoying the leveling game, even if by myself. At least I'd have mercenaries for hire to help me out there.

I played Fallen Earth into the 20s level. IT lost my interest. And the community there was less than awesome, imo.

I've *heard* EQ2 is pure raiding at the end, which doesn't match what I'm looking for. Not sure honestly though. I played a mage to level 15ish and I didn't care for it much at all.

I have so much more fun in Darkfall than I ever had in EVE. My GF ended her WOW sub for Darkfall and she doesn't even like PVP. The world is so huge and I never run out of things to do. I play casually but I wouldn't say that the game is the most casual friendly as it takes a long time to develope like it does in EVE but I sure had a lot of fun along the way. There are no level limits though so no matter how long that you play you can still group up with friends and participate in content but you will feel like cannon fodder compared to others as it is a very difficult game. Darkfall would probably only be the right game for you if you played with the right people which can be hard to find for someone new who knows nothing about it.

The most casual friendly game that I have ever played would be Guildwars. I actually still play it about 20 minutes a day for a quick fix. A lot of kids play this one so it is best to find others to play with. If you want to check out Guildwars I recommend joining this guild (age 30+): http://gator1091.hostgator.com/~gwmara0/portal.php

I know if my GF was here she would be telling me that I should encourage you to play DFO with us since she wants more girls to play with who don't worry about the PVP . .. but not sure if you would like it although there is a free trial. If you wanted to check it out feel free to contact one of us: sid vicious or nancy spungen on NA server. There is no level limit so we could group up and have some fun. She seems to have most fun from capturing villages to collect their tax and harvesting people's gardens and stuff for better drops and running through quests. We play about 10-20 hours a week PST evenings. We travel all over the world frequently for harvesting/crafting mats and havent really bothered getting involved in politics and PVP like most people do.

    Good luck!
