This is a function of the game i have spent no time with, but it is something we might have to figure out to make higher level encounters a bit faster, But i dont know much about the system, would anyone care to shed some light?

1st rule of battle reginemts, do not talk about battle regiments.
2nd rule of battle regiments, do NOT talk about battle regiments!
Anyways, I think some of the BRs dont have effects, cuz they probably just left them out of the beta. They might have effects on the release version, though I'm not sure.
I personally don't see the point of a BR, cuz they guys seem to just be standing around waiting to do a BR, when they could be beating on the mob. I dunno, is it even worth breaking off the attack to do a BR?
From what I have noticed about BR, its the same as the Skill Chains in FFXI. Enable the BR by selecting it at the begining of the bar. Everyone selects the skills they want to use, and then anyone can make it go off by pressing the BR button again, and this makes everyone do their skills. If your combination of skills can cause a Skill Chain to go off, then it happens, but if not, everyone just does their skill.
I can see this being usefull once everyone know what does what. Use the markers on the mob, everyone does the skill, and then make the BR happen. On paper, interesting, in practice, we shall see.
BR are the skillchains of FFXIV. It worked like that in FFXI : one player would use a weapon skill. Just after, another player would also use a weapon skill. If both skills could "chain" then the result would do extra elemental damage. A mage could also start casting a spell during the chain and it was timed corectly, the spell would do a "magic burst" if it was of the same element as the skillchain. (Ie : a spell of fire would do extra damage if cast right on a skill chain doing fire elemental damage).
It was also possible to chain several skills to do a higher level skill chain.
BR is the same : a way to coordinate the skills of several players so that the result will do extra damage or provide extra effects.
If people are standing there, doing nothing, its probably because they need more practice to do it fast... lol
So then it has been confirmed that there will be some sort of magic burst with BRs? I haven't been able to get that accomplished yet but really haven'y messed around with BRs as much as I would like. I think it's gonna be like xi early on where not everyone quite understands it and then it will be the norm once it's all figured out and practiced.
No idee.. in the manual, they just say that depending of the action and their order, there will be some special effect. Maybe spells are just a part of the action like other skills. I dont know if they gave more detailed info elsewhere.
It's probably up to us to discover which skills match.
Well they are fighting low level crap, imagine a fulll party fighting group mobs, what do you think will be more effcient, skill spam or actively trying to debuffthe mob through skill coordination?
I think Battle regiments will play a bigger role mid to late game rather then early game when mobs dont have the hp for it to mater.

Hmmm, sounds kind of like Fellowship Manuevers. Wonder if they are designed to work like them?

Anyone have any details yet on successful combos?

They are bugged but still posible , and do boy do they dash out some funky moves. i did bunch with a pick up party and got like 5 diferent ones , was to lagy to really see what happened but mobs high lv ( i was lv 10 gladi at the time) were diying like insects on the lv 20 camp (camp bloodshore i think, cant remember the flying weed thingies, hit really hard).
I wasnt starting them but the person who was told me that you have to keep pressing it the release battle regimen button a lot of times until it activates.
The way they are supoused to work is.
PlayerA- starts battle regimen , chooce skill to use.
Player B-starts battle regimen , chooce skill to use.
Player (insert number here i dont know max we were doing 4-5 ways BR)-starts battle regimen , chooce skill to use.
Player A presses the BR button again and all the skills are released in succesion and at the end especial effect comes out( right now if you release it will say " more than 1 player have released so it wont activate, i cant say how exactly the player i was playing with was releasing them, somethin about holding/smashing the release button, idk)
