EQ II = More solo

kb4blukb4blu Member UncommonPosts: 717

Well they have lowered a lot of the critters and such in Antonica.

Scarecrows, Stags, some of the Gnolls, and more have been changed from Group mobs to solo mobs.

It seems like every patch makes the game easier.

I dont know if this is a good thing or not.  Seems like EQII is trying to become WOW V 2.0

I guess they want to attract more players and I cant blame them for that but when you try to please everyone you usually end up making most people mad.

I left WOW because of the community and the ease of leveling.  If EQ II keeps this up I guess I will leave them.

One thing before you flame me about casual players.  I am a casual player.  I play 2 or 3 times a week for a total of about 6 hours a week.

Well, when you consider that many people hated EQ2 because of its "group only" play, what is Sony to do?

Personally, I think the option should be in every game to solo or group.  WoW is partly successful because of it.

I think this is a good move for EQ2. They seemed to state specificly that they weren't moving to make the whole game easier and solo only. They're just making some areas easier for the people that DO like solo/small group play more, but still having many group oriented areas. Good idea, in my opinion.

I have been against the move of Sony to make the game more soloable from the beginning. I don't feel its an improvement to the game I started on. I really wish they would just maintain different server types for what difficulty you want to play. Solo based servers, group based servers, etc.

I am tired of the games I come into enjoying getting changed into all things for all people.

I like it personaly. Some of the mobs in the outdoor zones were just crazy.

But I think the biggest reason they did it was some of the book quests and other obscure quests that people were doing, they couldn't do them until the mobs were grey because what group wants to spend all their time working a book quest for someone? hehe

It's a test, it's not permanent yet (unless they patched it to everyone yesterday).

On Najena we were testing it this weekend. I loved it. I think they should probably work a bit more on balance for it, so that there are still as many areas for groups to get XP and do quest mobs, but other than that it was nice to not have to either get a group or wait for stuff to go green before I could finish quests that I just couldn't find anyone to help out with when I needed it.

It allows you to clear out your usually-full quest log, which is cool imo. As I said though, they need to make sure they're still providing places for groups to do it too.

As a necro, I'm in EL now and I like the setup in the beginning of the zone. Only took a few hours after I hit 30 to hit 31 doing the quests solo. I have barely begun to explore it, but it's cool so far. Catching up to my guildies too, so I won't have to gamble on pickup groups that often give me more debt than XP.
