It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!
Just don't bother it's probably not for you. A whole lot of reasons I won't name, but there it is; game is not for you. No worries there are shit tonnes of other MMOs coming out and alot of them AAA's; SWTOR, GW2, DC Universe. So you will probably find something else to play.
In regards to this game; it'll just be me and the Japanese and I'm cool with that.
Peace Out Friends:
Benthon
Miffy
Trunkz
Bunnyhopper
paterah
snowblind00
Vypre
Ozivois
Filterheadz
etc, anyone have some names they'd like to add to the list?
You will be oh-so-sorely missed...
I love snails.

I just want to hug them all, but I cant.
Cant hug every snail.

Sorry, gotta play it.
Saying that, better title should have been this:
Did you start playing MMOs November 2004 or later? Yes? Honestly, then don't play this game.
Best part of FFXIV is that it's a throw back to the good ol' days and doesn't hold your hand every step of the way.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."
I am not playing this game cause I don't like the controls, but for God sake quit trolling it already.
On second thought keep trolling it people like Shannia deserve the trolling.
Take it easy on the OP. Good message, just wrong delivery.

Ok.
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
I agree with all criticisms, but I'm playing anyway. Sexy cat woman FTW!
I will play it and you can not make me stop!

played FFXI since beta till now.. I'm playing cause its time for a change and I'm in the "target market."
I'm loving the game so far =/
I will play it, but this is exactly what I told a couple friends. Only because they will wait on the PS3 release.
I won't be playing it cause I think there are a lot of things wrong with the game right now. When they fix those things, then I might start thinking if it's for me or not.
Cheers
what i don't get is if you don't plan on playing and don't like the game, why are you here?
If that was directed to the poster above you then it may be the same reason i am here: I want to like game, but i am having difficulty doing so. I am an older player, I like having to figure out quests. I absolutely love the muti-class system. Heck i dont even mind the xp system/48 hour quildleve system (maybe it will make me play normal hours lol). But the one thing I cant get over is the lag time between actions - and especially harvesting. I am not talking game lag, i have a nice rig so I do not experience that, this is game designed tiem between actions. I wanted to take the pick axe to my head the mining took so long. I understand its a minigame, but its not that excting to be doing it over and over. I love the graphics. I love the type of player that will be playing this game. Community is really important in an MMO. So I come to these boards hoping someone will say that they will fix these issues and maybe I can play. Yesterday, someone posted sayign they improved UI lag and I logged in and i think it was true. But my harvesting/action time was still slow. Everyone is going to make a decision for themselves whether or not they will be playing. But soem of us are on the fence and are trying to figure it out.
I love this game and will definately be playing it! used to play FFXI ^^.
Actually I think this was a tongue-in-cheek since the poster said he'll be here.
I took the post to mean that for people who don't like the game there is no need for them to worry, there are other games out there so they should just find one that suits them. I think the hardest thing on a game like this is for the people who are on the fence. For people like me who really like the game there is no issue or decision. It should be the same for people who don't like it. This game is not intended for everyone. But for people who honestly find themselves conflicted it's a problem.
I would suggest trying different gathering professions, if you haven't already, and see if you like any of the others more than mining. Probably more important would be to find a good linkshell and join the group. And I really recommend picking a guild/linkshell with a website. Not only will a guild allow you to make some friends in game which can make things interesting but it is a great source of information about what other people are doing that makes them enjoy the game. There is a Guild Recruitment forum for FFXIV here on MMORPG so go check that out. See if you can find one with a website and then go check out the website to see if the people sound like people you want to get to know and to see if they are posting helpful things on their site. Good luck with your decision.
You should probably test it first then. It seems most of the stuff people liked about XI didn't make it into XIV.
Been playing MMO's since '99, and FF games far prior. I disagree with this statement as it offers a far less of a challenge of old mmo's and feels really shallow gameplay-wise. To me at least it feels just as 'hand-holding' as anything released in the past 6 years. At the same time...I won't tell people not to play it just because I don't enjoy it. I don't see what gain the original poster gets out of trying to hurt a business.
Happy to disappoint the OP, I'll be playing FFXIV for the long term.
Sorry but I am going to play it too
Some things are quite anoying to which I hope they change in final. Like the configs, you should be able to config EVERYTHING.
Another thing is the when youre in fight if you play like a mage or any caster that you have to first press the skill and after that you have to click the monster can be anoying. What I would like is a "click through your character" if you know what I mean.
And an easier way to switch weapons. Fast keys would be good. Since atm its very anoying to first click the menu (insted of just being able to click esc) and change weapons manually slow just to mine a node. Maybe one fast key for "journal" insted of 15 keys for the camera?
If anyone can explain to me how to put up my new skills I would be very happy. It says that I cant remove "light swing" tried all I could think of
Game looks great and the gameplay is intressting and so is the world. Havent gotten so far but after playing so many crap mmos last 2 years its one of the better.
Won't be playing. Enjoy!

I don't see explantion points over all the NPC's heads with quests. I don't see arrows pointing you to quest objectives. Sure, NPCs may put a location on your map for you. You still have to explore and talk to NPCs, and when you get to certain levels, you have to go back and re-explore. Nothing is thrown out in front of you like the games from the past 3-6 years. Is it M59 or EQ? No. But it sure isn't the neon sign easy guide mode as most of the new games are.

ahhh ty for the translation lol..... i did botany to lvl 7ish too and yes iwill try other crafts. You are absolutely right, friends/guilds do make the game for you. Four of us have beta tested: my best game friend wont be playing it, another will be and another is fence-sittign as well. so that is strongly influencing my decision. ty for your help!
Yea. As a westerner, I'm not feeling the interest. Aside from there not being a player-centric ecosystem where I feel as though all the game-play isn't against computer-generated static mobs, similar to a single player game, as opposed to playing along-side cooperatively and competitively against more intelligent and dynamic players, I'm feeling as though I need a third hand to help manage the keyboard and mouse controls, the windows. Is there still a $3 charge for a playable alt? Combat is slow, and I wish my male character looked and felt more gritty male as opposed to feminine.
Striving for Silver Stars since Gold is so effeminate.
Both the male and female Lafalell (whatever) look like females. Then you can add a beard and you look like a female with a beard.

Op it is not a good idea to try to force your opinions onto others. This thread isn't very constructive for this very reason.
By simply saying that we won't like it, you need to explain yourself why we won't like it.. i think the game is great, it's an acquired taste I believe.
