elementalist / monk build a option ?

BeermeisterBeermeister Member Posts: 104

I just preordered a copy of gw and am switching over from WoW, I want to be able to heal pretty decent so i can find groups but also be able to do half ass decent dmg. Do you think a elementalist / monk build would be a option or should i go monk / elementalist? What im really looking for in the build is to be able to heal people but be able to do some dmg so i can somewhat solo.

well unless ur a warrior primary,it doesnt really matter whether or not ur a monk primary or secondary.secondary monks have same healing, enchantment, and smiting skills as primarys.in pvp combat it could be a good idea to be elem/monk cus enemys tend to go after primary monks first out of instinct...this isnt to say an elementalist isnt a primary target, just that it would have less chance of being first target than a primary monk.being a primary warrior secondary monk is both a pro and a con,as it raises the warriors defensive capabilities to their highest, but has a very low energy pool compared to primary casters

If you want to have better healing chose monk primary, and if you want to have more energy to be able to cast more spells in battle chose elementalist primary :)

    GW Characters:
    Serena Varden - Monk/Mesmer
    Faith Varden - Warrior/Elementalist
    Sama Varden - Elementalist/Necromancer
    Helena Varden - Ranger/Monk

Ele/Mo is what I would suggest just for the fact that, once you decide on your element (Air or Fire), you really won't need A LOT of elementalist skills...that is if your going for PvP...if your going to do PvE, Mo/Ele would be your best bet...

I've mainly played as an E/Mo, I really enjoy the ranged attacks (though ele's get some pretty good melee spells if enemies decide to focus on you). I prefer it when i'm free to attack, but have played a lot as a secondary healer, where the E/Mo shines - with lots of healing spells and the defensive spells like 'ward against melee'. The drawbacks to the E/Mo are a lack of hitpoints and poor HtH damage, you just have to keep in mind that range is key.

Best of all, you get really cool looking armour...

PvE in general is pretty lame, if you think long and hard about it. You are spending your time beating a severely gimped AI that would lose to a well trained monkey. Best not to think too long and hard why you are wasting time playing games in general actually...
