Howdy, Stranger!

It looks like you're new here. If you want to get involved, click one of these buttons!

Why

I went back and down loaded this game last week . ive play 4 hours a day for the last 9 days in a row.  The game  has some great points , but by far the bad out weights them.

first and worst . the player base is the rudest i have even seen in any game in my entire life. if you  have a question that can not be found on wiki or the help box , you can shout till your blue in the face no one is going to answer you.

The rude goes way past the non - helpful .. in game from time to time monsters drop stones that allow you to summon said monster in any spot outside of  town . High lvl player take this for the most part worthless stones to the entry points of low lvl grinding areas and release them and go away. so when a low lvl 8-30 trys to enter or leave the area they get a wash over lvl 100+ monsters to 1 shot kill them at the spawn point.

Next high lvls have fun by going into the low lvl grind areas and running  from 1 end to the other pulling in all the agro of the map to chase them. when the chain gets to long the monsters all glitch , and run  a prem loop even after the high lvl has left. Any low lvl that  trys to attack the monsters in the glitch chain finds his/her toons spread out acrost the map and each allown quickly killed.

More  wonderful fun high lvls still get drops from killing low lvl monsters , so when the feel like farming crafting mats they just push in and take the whole map . dam the low lvls your done playing over cuz there setting up afk auto attacks and going out , low lvls will get no more kills in this area.

2nd Most the help windows are stil in korean ,  need no say more on this one

3rd if you want  more than base worthless skills you will need to buy them from the cash shop. high lvls still get drops from low lvl monsters so boss monsters are all covered even  the newb lvl bosses. cash shop help function is also  in korean.

4th monitary gain . a new player will not have this in any way shape or form , a new player can craft nothing , can farm nothing , so has no income . money gain from questing will barely cover your teleport costs to and from questing areas.

5th chat there is no chat your chat window wil never move a word. if your new you have no clan if you have no clan your not worth talking to. a mmo with no chat but that of game systems spam.

6th there is no pug partying . everyones so used to no cha in this game you can jump up and  down grow a 2nd head and fart out gold bars , and no one would look your way.

7th there are many npc toons you have to creat your self inorder to play this game . these npc players do your crafting and such for you . ye you have only 4 toon slots and a total of " at my best count" 17 slots needed for base crafting npc toons

8th its mouse click for everything , click to move , click to attack . click to swop leader  from your too list , click to pick up drops . your non stop going  click click click  and in a big fight most clicks end up on wrong thing . sure theres a auto attack function and if your in a area bellow your lvl range it works fine . but if you play his you will have to play where  you can find space. ive have to go to areas 20 lvls above my toons to play just cuz the lvl 60-100+ players had all the low lvl areas locked down. if you use auto attack theres auto attack bombs that spawn  at random if you hit  one  you instantly have 15-20 monsters drop from the sky onto your head.  20 monsters 20 lvls above your lvl is ista death

9th  0 ,nadda , no  toon customization in looks or stats

 *************

now theres some good to  the game but the above makes it not even worth the attempt to play.

 good is

 works great on linux os

nice diff. lvl its not ez playing 3 toons at the same time with out auto attack mode, its nice to  play a not ez game again

no lag , theres not a ton of players it pc i loaded the game on isnt the greatest  it a pure base system and i had 0 lag ever.theres not tons of players but saddly most of the few there are , are butt heads.

clean eviorment there no big masses of trees just there for no purpuse , i only did 9 days my 3 toons didnt even mak it to lvl 60 so i can say  if the high lvl makes are the same. but from 60 down only 1 map took a try at the artsie fartsie it was  a map for players 35-40 i guess . it wasnt laggy just a pain to click click click threw all the bridges.

i guess that about wraps it up....

o wait and its client is a lie . it states 2G space req. no sir  total from dl till final install  you will need 10.3G open space you can recover 6G after finall install  so not a biggy unless you plan to download  onto a external mem divice

A lot of people turn off the broadcast since there's so many irrelevant messages flying across the screen such as random chatter and WTB/WTS.  If turned off, your message on broadcast may only appear for a few seconds on the left side depending on whether there are other System messages being displayed.

If you have questions, you can always start a thread in either the official forums or wiki.

What server are you playing on?  I haven't seen players waste spinelles like that for a long time in Bristia.  Don't know about Orpesia or Illier though.  On Bristia, if we became aware of a level 100 monster in a low level area, we make an effort to defeat it since they can drop something good.

I'd like to see that chain glitch in action.  It's the first I've heard of it.

What map are you referring to where the high levels are taking over the map?  The maps below level 100 tend to be quite empty on Bristia.  All the high levels are in Caebolean, Bahamar Underground, and other high level maps grinding to Expert or Master.

Yea, the help windows are useless.  Haven't really looked that them.

There are less than a half dozen stance (skill) books on the cash shop and they are for hard to get UPCs like Nar and Ania.  All the other dozens of stance books are brought with vis (in game currency) or indirectly via the player market (via Mysterious Powder).  since it requires a high level family with good equipment to even get those UPCs, you wouldn't be getting those particular cash shop stance books in a long time.

Yes, unfortunately the boss monsters may be covered due to an expansion earlier this year that gave the boss monsters a 1/50 chance of dropping Symbols (rare and very expensive).  This doesn't hurt with your quests involving those bosses though since those will be instance battles.

A new player should not craft anything until they reach level 100.  Before that, they should be using Polishers to trade for Ancestral equipment.  Ancestral equipment outclass everything until about level 84.  The Polishers are obtained as quest rewards.

Are you picking up all the monster drops and selling them to the NPCs?  If not, you're letting money disappear.  The mob drops more than cover the cost of bullets and teleportation costs.

There's World chat (viewable by anyone physically nearby), Personal chat (opens a seperate window to the person you're chatting with anywhere in the world), Squad chat (equivalent to party chat in other games), Group chat (like Squad chat but without being in a squad), and Clan chat.  The easiest way for a new person to draw attention and chat with people is to use Personal chat (hard to ignore) or World chat while in a crowded town.

What is pug partying?  Most people use Clan or Squad chat.

Don't create any of the UPCs (the NPCs you're referring to).  As a new player, just concentrate on getting 3 characters to level 100 and beyond.  A lot of people don't create the UPCs and rely on friends to do the crafting.  You just need 1 friend or one clanmate with the crafter and you'll be set.  The most popular crafter that just about every family has is Grace Bernelli and that's not because she is a crafter.

I use F1, F2, and F3 to swap leaders.  Should really read up on how to use the various keys of the keyboard so that you don't have to click so much.  I don't even touch the mouse to pick up drops or to attack.  Just about every single key on the keyboard is used in some way.

There are lots of customization.  Many dozens of body costumes, back costumes, hats, and hair.  The stock characters can even change their faces (although the new faces look more Asian).  I have yet to see any other family with my characters' appearance in months.

You gain stat points to assign when you promote your character at level 100, 110, and 120.  Hence the whole reason on concentrating on 3 characters to level 100.

Yes, the client is huge but that's expected since the world is large with so many different textures and soundtracks.

People use the official forums.  I see new questions asked and answered there every single day.

I don't play on that carebear server.  I find their people strange.  Feel free to call them rude all you want.  I'm guessing because they can't be PKed, they feel that they can be rude.

I'd like to see that chain glitch in action.  It's the first I've heard of it. really - its on the wiki for this game  1st entr for known issues.

I'll go take a look at this tonight.

What map are you referring to where the high levels are taking over the map?  The maps below level 100 tend to be quite empty on Bristia.  All the high levels are in Caebolean, Bahamar Underground, and other high level maps grinding to Expert or Master. 10-25 dungeon  20-45 dungeon  . My impression on this part was that you were complaining about not being able to get stances or skills without the use of the cash shop.  I was curious about which stance or skill you were trying to get.

Yes, unfortunately the boss monsters may be covered due to an expansion earlier this year that gave the boss monsters a 1/50 chance of dropping Symbols (rare and very expensive).  This doesn't hurt with your quests involving those bosses though since those will be instance battles. do you now why monsters all have diff  levels? its so diff level players  can experience the game , not so a handfull of ass monkeys can spam farm everything that gives a low lvl a chance to make any money.

It used to be that those bosses were never revisited because one a player outlevels that map, they never go back.  This seems to be a flawed solution to make those bosses popular again.

A new player should not craft anything until they reach level 100.  Before that, they should be using Polishers to trade for Ancestral equipment.  Ancestral equipment outclass everything until about level 84.  The Polishers are obtained as quest rewards.who are you to tell new player what they should and should not do? is  there account not there game ? if they want to craft and not grind whats it to you ?

Not me certainly.  Feel free to play or not play how you like.  Just giving you a suggestion that crafting below level 84 is pretty useless at this stage of the game compared to 2 years ago due to the introduction of ancestral equipment.  I'm actually one of those that prefer to level up all the crafters rather than grind on a few characters.

Are you picking up all the monster drops and selling them to the NPCs?  If not, you're letting money disappear.  The mob drops more than cover the cost of bullets and teleportation costs. again i think you didnt read or understand . click click click im lined up with a drop item  click 1 didnt pick up  i just walked dam it  click 2  dam it it clicked my  toon  now i got to swap leaders back click 3 clickd pet shit on toast  dam that  drop  ......  and this is how a click click click game really goes unless you  buy a pet thats auto pick up really works from the cash shop

I don't use a pet to pick up drops.  I press on Ctrl + Spacebar to tell the characters to pick up all drops in the vicinity.  Since I don't AFK, I do not feel the need to spent anything to buy/feed a pet.  The only times I would need to click on the mouse button is to move or interact with other families.

There's World chat (viewable by anyone physically nearby), Personal chat (opens a seperate window to the person you're chatting with anywhere in the world), Squad chat (equivalent to party chat in other games), Group chat (like Squad chat but without being in a squad), and Clan chat.  The easiest way for a new person to draw attention and chat with people is to use Personal chat (hard to ignore) or World chat while in a crowded town.so your sugestion to void of  chat for new playes is for the new player  to just send random pms to random players running by them. im sorry  your system is cracked

It's an excellant way to meet players.  It certainly works in just about all the MMOs that I've played.  If it's a cracked system then reality is cracked because that's how one meets and networks with people whether it's in school, work, or a bar.

What is pug partying?  Most people use Clan or Squad chat.  pug = pull up group as a new player has no clan and no chat function  a mass of rude / disrespectful players all around theres no way for 1 new player to find other new players.

Just about all the people I've met  in various games (not just this one) are due to randomly chatting with random people that are hanging around town are in a dungeon.  If I'm not the one initiating the random chat, then it was from the other person speaking up first.  It's really no different than taking a seat at a bar and chatting up an attractive stranger.

The most popular crafter that just about every family has is Grace Bernelli and that's not because she is a crafter.again who are you to tell me  how to play my game. it is my game not yours to play.

Play or not play however you like.

Like I said earlier, I have NOT brought a cash shop pet to pick up drops.  I press on "Ctrl + Space".  I use the keyboard to activate skills and potions.  You can not cap stone an account just by doing nothing as the monsters in the upper levels are just too difficult without playing actively.

There are lots of customization.  Many dozens of body costumes, back costumes, hats, and hair.  The stock characters can even change their faces (although the new faces look more Asian).  I have yet to see any other family with my characters' appearance in months.

no theres not this is a lie ,

Yes there is.  Do you want me to post pictures of the NPC soldier that can change your characters' faces?  I think there is also the option for a new character to select their face and I can post a pic of that just for you.

You gain stat points to assign when you promote your character at level 100, 110, and 120.  Hence the whole reason on concentrating on 3 characters to level 100
.to  little to late im not going to play a cookie cutter crunch for 100+ levels

Then don't play, it's that simple.  Better to have less negativity floating around.

Yes, the client is huge but that's expected since the world is large with so many different textures and soundtracks.

Bout 2 years ago (1.5?), couldn't walk through a Wal-Mart, Gamestop, Target, wherever without a copy of SOTNW falling off the shelves and hitting you upside the head. Man, there were alot of copies on the market where I lived.

Thanking goodness I didn't pick one up - never read a positive review on the game.

  • BMoorBMoor Member Posts: 202

Oh, I read a few positive reviews 2.5 years ago which was the whole reason why I took the time to download it to try it back then.  Otherwise, I would have skipped it because the download takes so long.

It is definitely NOT worth the full price those retailers are trying to sell those boxes at.  It was a P2P subscription game at the time too and really irked me that one needed to buy the box seperately.  Fortunately, most retailers eventually lowered the price to like $2 to $3 in order to get rid of the inventory and I brought all the boxes from all the stores within a 20 mile radius around my home and even went on ebay to buy it (when the price was right).  In addition to massively discounted gold, I also got the DVDs so that I wouldn't have to redownload it again.

you can bottom line all this in 1 line of type.

Any mmo that lets high lvl toons gain exp/sp/or drops from low lvl monsters is a failure game.

ill continue for 4 days more on this game i expect no changes tho , i give even the worst set up game  a 2 week trial , and i make every attempt to give it 4 hours a day over that 2 weeks.

Fyi post creation adds to outfits and face costing many millions of in game dollars are not  toon opptions its a gold sink . 2nd how is a new player  suppost to come up with these millions  face change allown is $500,000.00 . there is no set up for new players to make any for on income what so ever .

I suggest...you stop playing MMOs all together and play Single Player games...it would be a lot easier for you, your heart, and your brain because you are stressing way too much.

not streesing a bit . and there is not 1 english speaking mmorpg on the market ive not played for at bare min  14 days.

the poster that went behind my reveiw figured the OP would not return to his post , as poor/substandered  game reveiw post are most often left by the OP. so 2nd poster felt the need to suger coat  the OP with misconseptions and half truths. there for i had need to retort.

    image

  • BMoorBMoor Member Posts: 202

I always expect the OP to return to their posts, otherwise I wouldn't take the time to write rebuttals to your misconceptions and half truths.  I also wouldn't ask questions on my posts if I didn't expect the OP to return to answer them.

What really irked me to respond were:

    • Point 3 - I'm still curious on what skills you need to buy from the cash shop and how they are better than something that can be obtained via ingame money.

    • Point 8 - Especially the complaints about the constant mouse clicks.  It reminds me of someone buying a new gadget and then complaining about the gadget not doing something because they haven't read the manual on what the various buttons do.

    • Point 9 - When there are pages and pages of pictures of various ways to customize the appearance of a character just on the wiki (http://www.swordofthenewworldwiki.com/photos/album/150095/Costumes+&+Armor).  The stat customization is more understandable since that starts at level 100 and I've heard the same complaints in other games where customizations are also done later on in the game rather than in the beginning.

The other points can certainly be valid as it talks about the community and the player controlled economy of Orpesia and I'm not on that server.

Perhaps I'm looking at the wrong wiki (http://www.swordofthenewworldwiki.com/), but I haven't found the page you were talking about regarding the chain glitch.  I searched on the terms "known" and "issues".

A million in ingame money is nothing to families who have level 100 characters which was why I suggested concentrating on leveling only 3 of them rather than spreading out your time with the UPCs.  Of course, who am I to tell you how to get millions of ingame money while you are complaining about money issues.  Now, if you were talking about a billion in ingame money, that would take some effort.

I tend to think of Sword2 as the thinking man's MMO. This is not a game that is easy to play like most games out there that are being marketed to the Twitter generation. It takes skill and patience to become good at Sword2. It is why I still play it after 3 years. Accomplishment actually means something in this game.

Here is a good walk through of the entire leveling questline. A player who does it smart can get to level 100 in two weeks and have millions of Vis to promote themselves to Vet and have basic equips. The quests also reward polishers which can be sold to NPC's for the best elite gear in the game. You will also be given exp cards and UPC cards for questing.

Sell your UPC cards to other players. Some are quite valuable but you don't need them as a low level player. If you are still playing in 3 months you will be rich enough to buy them back for chump change.

Sell TA starters at exactly 2am EST 11pm PST. Anyone can do it and you get 3 million vis for 5 minutes of foot work. If you are fast and lucky you can double sell and get 6 million vis.

I highly doubt that. I've been playing MMOs for a long time and I haven't even played them all. I think you need to try a game and I mean really try it before bashing it. As for the unfriendly community, I play on the same server and I am far from rude.

You really need to stop stressing and as you said to the other person, play the game the way you want to play it.

Many Enjoy Flaming Sword of the New World(Now Sword 2), well, some time ago, I went  to Al Quelt  Moreza, to help a friend to  start, we had no issues with Spinelles(the Item that calls Monsters), nor I saw  many High Levels There.

Well, if  the Topic Starter cant Bring Himself/Herself to do some basic  research(Using the Lost  Skill of Reading) It  can get  a Bit hard to figure out the Hotkeys, In Sword  2, You Only Need the Mouse, to move, speed up the choices on Texts, and targetting specific Enemies, the rest, can almost  all be done using the Keyboard, and as a Player from Orpesia, I Must ask if you noticed, that many players  leave their Teams on the map and go afk(a afk person  doesnt answer), this Chain Glitch, I never saw, but then, I dont stay near corridors  and places where people  pass often.

Reaching Level 100, its  a Breeze, unless  you are one of those  players that Want to start a game, and in 2 Hours reach  the level  cap, then it takes a while(did a speed run in my alt  account a few  weeks ago, reached 100  in 2 weeks)

and About the So Called CS Stances, there isnt really any that cant be gotten without using the CS, Mysterious Powders can be Bought at the Market(or  traded for  items  if you talk to others), and the ones in Feso Shop, you can Buy Great Stones(each is worth 100.000 Feso) for  around 4m in the Market, and if you really need help getting  a clan, check the forums, they quite often got  Recruiting Topics there.

Now  a few things that Help Getting Money:

1: Pickup all  you can(even if you need to use that chicken you get at the start of  the game)

2: Keep the Enchancement Chips  you get if they can be used in ancestral items

3: Use the Sacred Guard, you get extra experience, and the other person gets some reputation
