SaigonshakesSaigonshakes Member Posts: 937

Just got the damn plague. Killed my character and made me lose five whole levels. Stupid....

Just kidding. I did get it though. I turned green and started caoughing and itching myself. Good stuff.

Looks like you're not the only one...has anyone found a cure for it yet? Don't think I'm feeling too well... image

i think there is a cure of some type. i hear people talking about it in OOC Chat all the time.
  • ZonaZona Member Posts: 33

Someone said today in ooc that a cleric can use cure noxious to heal people, or you can buy a potion.

I got the plague (I guess) by standing next to a coughing guard in the peat bog. It only lasted for about 1 1/2 hours. When I was down to only 30 minutes of sickness left, I logged out for an hour and when I logged back in, I was still sick for 30 minutes.

I got the plague too, but the druid in our group cure us with the cure noxious spell. The only problem is that I keep getting it as soon as I stop to talk with anyone.

I noticed the same thing (getting the plague again right after getting cured)
Today I learned that a level 50 alchemist can make a cure that will prevent the plague from re-occuring

Now it seems our problem is finding a level 50 alchemist, then trying to afford the cure, heh. Ive played since the first week the game came out and I still go almost broke everytime I need repairs lol, guess I'll just get used to being sick until the live event is over :)

I dont like running around with green all over me, it makes my armor and weapons look ugly, and I just got my ghoulbane, I want to show it off ::::02::.

This was a stupid idea for a event, just my opinion. I would prefer the game to not have any more plagues.

Wow, they are just trying to have fun with you guys, maybe take a break from questing regularly and setting off to go find a cure. Sounds pretty fun to me.

Lol not to me, I have gotten it like 5 times and I just think its a stupid idea. I love EQ2 but I think this is one of the first ideas that I dont approve with, everyone on OOC didnt like it either with exception of a couple.

I don;t really mind it. It's adds something new for awhile. Though I will admit, it makes my spear look like crap. No more shine.

Im mainly excited for pvp, I wouldnt mind if they didnt update for like one month and concentrated on making the PvP system awesome. The other day I was thinking to myself that if SoE doesnt implement PvP by June or so and I was lvl 50 by then, I would quit. Well the next day the announced PvP is coming lol.

  • SaigonshakesSaigonshakes Member Posts: 937

I just hope they do it right. It sounds like they are thinking it through so it should be good. I would hate it if some crappy pvp system got implemented and it ruined the game. Hope for the best.

i don't know, the plage reminds me of the Karana Plague from EQ 1 a few years back, thats was a cool RP thing, when you go to Karana, you get sick and such, but it wouls last like for 24 hours or so i think, lol

If this makes any sense at all. I hope eq2 pvp will be a cross between Ultima online and ac2 pvp.

Ac2 had special places in the game where people could go to battle each other, UO had the same, but also put in some good quests, that could only be completed in the pvp area. UO also increased harvesting in the pvp zones, which made it rewarding to harvest there, but still had the excitment of having to look over your shoulder at who might be around.

The most fun I ever had in pvp was when I was killed outside of a friends house, who happened to live in the pvp area. I was dumb and hadn't emptied my backpack before venturing there. A witch (mage) showed up and tore me apart, then looted everything from my body.

Later on my friend was safely inside his house, talking to the guy who was outside, When I gated in with my pet Wyrm. My wyrm tore him up before he had a chance to run. I looted his corpse, but the witch was smarter than I was, the only thing I looted from him was about 5 of each reagent (spell casting stuff)

PvP is alot fun, if it is done right. I like a game that will give people the choice to pvp or not to pvp, that way everyone is happy ::::15::

Shit, this plague is still active

Although my friends ask me not to, I will resign soon if it keeps going, it takes all the fun from the game for me.

I CAN understand that some people like it but why was SOE to lazy to arrange a session WITH and a session WITHOUT this event ?

The plague takes all of the fun out of the game for you!? Are you kidding? All it does is turn your toon green.

    Hi shaigonshakes

No kidding, Everquest used to offer many possibilities for role playing and not limit one's options to hack & slash.

When I have several hours in front of me, I like to take out my big warrior and enter a nerve-stretching quest, BUT, when I have a limited amount of time a crafter is (was) much more relaxing.

In my case a cook (think whatever you want of it, I had fun with it, I appreciated making food and mostly drinks for my guild and they appreciate it quite a lot, so much that they won't let me quit in factimage).

Everquest allowed for role playing characters, not only adventure types, but city-active and guild-active people.

The first time I have seen my cook puke into the food she was creating for her friends was ... well unsettling.

OK, it has no impact in terms of game play, it is not labelled 'vomit-covered refreshing green apple juice' and it may even sound amusing when I tell about it like that image.

But the core of my explanation is : people can look into this game for different things, for some this event is 'interesting' and that gives me no problem, I don't share this view and this event takes the fun of what I am looking for in the game.

Why isn't there 2 sessions, 1 with this event and 1 without ???????

well, maybe I'll stay after all, the plague seems to abate.

Now talks seem to move more concerning a lack of ressources, potential famine to beware ?

well, I can relate to that more easily as a cook (promized I won't puke anymore in the food if there is no food left)

Mhhh, plague, famine, then maybe war and death, rings a kind of souvenir, no ? if so we have a nice program in front of us   image

I dont like it, but it doesnt make me want to quit the game over it lol. I just cant wait for pvp, as I have said. I just want to hit lvl 50 before it comes out, just 18 more to go ::::02::

ABout the plague, a priest CAN use cure noxious to heal you - but only temporarily.

There are some player made potions floating around, and in various places they have intrduced super high-priced blackmarket potion dealers.

If you know an alchemist, stick with him.

Well, I think the PvP system (or so I hope) will be alot like Dark Age of Camelot's system, as well as some new things I would like.

In DAoC, there are huge castle sieges, and for EQ2, there could be BUILDABLE castles and guild houses, and guilds of evil woulf fight the guilds of good. There would be siege towers, catapults, trebuchets, the like. The castles would be destructible. I think there would definately have to be an expansion for this, but knowing Sony, it is highly doable.

Also, there should be dueling in castles, just for fun, not good vs. evil, just like 2 castle residents dueling... There could also be Jousts! Now that would be fun.

On a darker note, for the evil alignment, you could capture a good alignment player, and if you had an inquisitor in your castle, they could tortue them into giving up some gold, power, items, ETC. Of course you dont have to give up anything, but then you would just die.

If evil had this, and good didnt, everyone would join evil, and that would be unfair, so the captured evil player could be tortured by a templar, and likewise, they could either die or give up stuff.

They could also introduce a 1 on 1 system for anywhere, but that might become to chaotic.

The plague has been dampened and is now much more bearable, that is good.

It is now a thing of the background with nobody much caring about it, talk about an 'event'.

So from time to time your character catches it and starts again retching, coughing, shivering... till a cleric cures him.

Can somebody please tell me where the insterest lies in that ?

If there is still a quest on-going somewhere it must have become a very confidential thing.

Everybody I see goes on with business as usual with only this stupid and obnoxious bother of a plague that affects you once in a while when you are in town.

So what will it be from now on ? The plague stays for keeps ? Or will it simply disappear some day without anybody noticing ?

I love this idea!  I think SOE is REALLY trying to make this game better

Well, that is an opinion that I respect but can't understand image.

If this is an improvment why is SOE not giving it publicity ? The public presentations and tests I see do not integrate the plague. As the plague is not an event anymore (it has been around to long for that) but an integral part of the game, I think SOE should mention it in any description so people will know what they are getting into.

When I see a description like 'you will have the possibility to play many characters who retch their meals around everywhere' THEN I will consider that the actual presentation of the game is given to the public at large image .

Why is 'the test of the isle' the only plague-free place? is it to allow newbie to be used to their characters without this 'improvment' in the game or because it is a place for test where people will check if they appreciate the game before their final decision?

Misleading potential customers on the product they will buy looks borderline to me, maybe even illegal ?

But this is only my opinion, please respect it even if you don't share it  image.

And a nice shivering, scratching, green tinge and retching to you too.
