Some Armor help please

in Final Fantasy XIV

Can anyone tell me what types of armor different classes use? Not even sure that FFXIV class armor works like other games. The reason I ask is that I would like to make my own armor and I am not sure what crafter to lvl up. Archer will proly be my main class. Guessing thats either leather or mail armor. With the class system in this game I have no idea how armor works =) Thanks in advance for any input

    Only 1/100 of the release armor is in OB, but crafting is very much interconected. If you want to be completely selfsufficent, then you are going to need to level more than 1 crafting/harvesting set. Its my understanding that, like FFXI, armor is class restricted but some pieces/sets can be worn by more than 1 class.

    The armor lists what classes can use it when you look at the armor piece in your inventory even though any class can wear the armor they don't get the benefits of the armor if they are not listed in the armor.

    and he is right to make one piece of armor you need like 4 crafting classes and all 3 gathering classes. I like in depth crafting but i don't like not being able to craft anything of use without the need of others to supply me stuff or having to level 7 non combat classes to make something.

    Thank you guys very much for the info. I dont mind lvling multiple crarfting skills  (have 8 maxed out crafters in EQ2 with maxed harvesting skills) so I guess I will lvl up blacksmith, leatherworker and weaver to start. Will buy the stuff that those guys can't make, or trade for them. I like the idea of interdependancey, as long as people aren't out to screw everyone else with crazy prices.
