Why the hell are so many people writting full reviews on the game at this stage? (Good or Bad)
There is currently discussions going on whether what we see now is the full article. All the evidence points towards Not, but that is not what this is about (so please don't bring this up in this thread). Nobody realy knows. So how can we give the game a proper review.
About the only thing you can get a feel for is the UI/controls.
So to all those people writting full reviews, your just plain wasting your time, go and do something usefull until you KNOW.

Wow, someone did not like the reviews. Personally, I appreciate a good beta review, it tells me much of the upcoming game. If the OB operates well then I consider the same or better upon release. I am happy to see FF OB get some reviews in order to learn that in order to play it I will have to upgrade my pc, get a controller, learn to rig macro's, search the web for information, figure out what to do after my alloted quests and make adjustments to my pc that fit however the game runs. And I thought my employment was hard.
QFT If the game isn't ready to be judged why have an open beta at all? Why not keep the nda intact till 3 months after launch like aoc. JP but, seriously. We can review the game all we want. Who would have a subpar open beta honestly? Why would they want the public to see the worse half of there game?
Agreed. Regardless I understand its a Beta from the OPs stand point, but it's definitely nice to know the state of the game, as some MMO's released arent polished or barely playable due to numerous/various bugs 3-6months into release. Beta reviews are always a plus, although a lot are biased in my opinion.

Game is out in like 2 weeks. I doubt much will change as do many people.
So STFU.
A review by definition is biased. A person, is telling you what THEY think about the game and explaning the reasoning behind said thoughts.
Anytime a person says something is good or bad, its based on bias.
Otherwise its just plain facts, and no good or bad spin at all.
i like beta reviews because it tells me what the game looks like and what needs to be done. I usually take note of it and compare it to Launch reviews, if nothing has changed, I just dont play. It's a great way to know if the dev puts alot of work into their product.
HAHAHAHAHAAAAA QFT
Well, I do not do OB's to "judge" a game, only get information as I stated. I do keep all NDA's intact, I am not sure why they would have a subar open beta as they did, I do not think that they wanted the public to see the worse of the best of the game. The point of my reply was simple, I learned that in order to play this game I would have to drop much money on upgrades and controllers...or steal my kids PS3 controller whichever was cheapest. Bottom line is that I learned and that is why I appreciate OB reviews.
So, would you judge a cake by its ingredience before it has come out of the oven? Yes you can get a good idea how it may taste by the mixture, but its the end product that counts.
My point still stands, you can't write FULL REVIEWS when everything may not be there to review.

I have yet to see a full review of this game from a respectable gaming site.............//
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Nothing wrong with it. Personally I am kind of glad FFXIV is getting slammed by so many while I am having the time of my life. I never wanted it to be mainstream and super popular. It would be perfect to me if it sat around the same pop as FFXI. If the masses played it that would mean it would be geared to the masses, and updated for the masses. It confirms it will definitely still be a niche game and I fit so well in that niche along with many others that it is a dream come true for us.
That is because respectable gaming sites don't review games based on a beta before we even have the final product.............
True, and untrue. Most reviews are by someone who Likes or Dislikes the game, like mentioned, none by any respectable sites yet, which offer unbiased reviews (Those who are reviewing what is seen/played so far, not caring if it Fails or Succeeds). There are plenty of unbiased reviews out for many games, and its easy to tell when they are and aren't. If you don't know what I mean, then you truely don't understand.
This is the truth. Bigtony gives out some of the better reviews and offers unbiased results

The OB reviews help me decide if a game is good or not. I've been in most every open bata for mmo's and found that they are EXACTLY like the game on release. Yes, I understand that the full world is never open to the public in OB but you can get a near perfect view of how game play will react for release. FF14 had so many leaks about the bad controls and UI that I never even tried to get in this one. Once the NDA was removed it confirmed this, thanks to reviews. When most bata reviews or at least most responses to a bata review tells that an mmo is bad, IT'S ALWAYS TRUE !
Vanguard
AoC
Champions online
In fact FF14 is getting by far bad reviews from OB testers than the ones listed above.
Sounds like the OP is trying to make everyone ignore facts, and make everyone purchase the mmo ........Why I don't know, I could only guess :
1) He is a vet from FF11, and one of the few that decided to " force learn the controls " of that game.
2) He works for Square Enix.
I can't think of any other reason that anyone would tell others to " shut up " about their experience !
I would if i saw dog shit on the list of ingredients.
Lets see here.. for ingredients we have a hammock full of dog feces, a barrel of pre-chewed corn. hand toss them till they are all mixed in. put it in the oven.. and Voila! .. a big pile of steaming sh*t..
so yes we can all pretty much know what the end product is.\
damm shoju beats me to it...
need to lay down for a bit.

A Public beta is a stress test of the servers and the game should more or less be done when it starts. However can many issues show up when you suddenly get so many more players with different hardware.
But a beta is a beta, open or not, it is not fair to write a full review on a beta no matter if you like it or not. And often are not all zones in the OB, it is a stress test and some of the endgame zones are not really that interesting to test like that anyways.
They may call them previews instead of reviews, but there are plenty of sites (Gamespot to name one) that will use beta to write up an article describing their opinions of the game.
As stated by someone else, this game will release very shortly, it is not as if much is going to change in that amount of time. Call it a review or a preview it is still going to provide good information about what the game will be like at release.
Actually, AoC got very good reviews from the start and everything written on the OB was really high, often 9/10 or 10/10. It was first a few weeks after launch the scores went down. Same thing with WAR.
EvE on the other hand had really bad scores at launch and it eventually turned out good, and same thing with EQ2.
I used to feel that way about LOTRO. Unfortunetly, if the game doesn't get enough people the company running it is going to try to find ways to get more revenue and that means they are going to make changes to the game. And they don't tend to care what their existing player base thinks about those changes.
You may think you don't want a lot of people playing FFXIV with you, but when it goes F2P and you are waiting in server queues and they have added purchasable heals that stack with regular ones so that you are getting kicked out of raids because you refuse to buy a $2 one time heal for every boss; you are going to change your mind.
(Yes, I am just a bit bitter about the MMO I just left)
No No NOooo,
OB testers of AoC told about the high system requirements, and crashing, along with the funnled paths and non open world. Because of the same reports from open Bata testers is why AoC failed at launch !
