On Sept 3rd Lotro was running about 28th place on XFire with around 5500 hours, yesterday it was in 16th place with over 9000, so yeah I thing a few people were able to play. Looks like F2P launch was a success
I started to play yesterday as a lore-master. I didn't have time to play much though. So far I don't have issues login in. The game runs very smooth. Having fun.
Someone posted a link in this forum somewhere last Monday, saying we should download early to avoid the rush. I did, but it turned out that was a beta version that wouldn't work, so I had to download it again.
Oh that might be the case for me then I was playing in the beta but now it just sits there trying to connect to the server before I can even log into my account.
use this link, its the one my missus used to get hers. The servers should be ok but as it id go f2p there will be alot of people trying to log in. paitence young padawan
I redownloaded and went in last night . I have been a lifetime sub since beta founder as well.
I just wanted to see what had changed and if I still had my characters, in the interm I find that since I did not log into the game between june and now I am not entitled to the backdated TP and have to have one play session a month now to recieve said bonus TP as I read it..
I really thought that was the entire point to getting a lifer account so I could play at will whenever I chose to, heh silly me for not reading the new fine print!
be it known thats the only down point I found last night, as the servers my characters were on seemed to be hopping with activity and minus my TP I didnt have (yes I know about the probs Turbine is having with the points right now) the game still seems good and fun.
They seem to be having some issues with the TP's. Many people haven't even gotten their loyalty points yet, and Turbine said it could be 7-10 days. A few people are also upset about the the over 30% hike in some of the prices after the first day on the store.
I'm also having issues posting on the forums. It says I must have an active sub. The funny thing is, I have an active sub.
Everything isn't rosey. They have some issues, but I expected that. Just hope they get everything sorted out.

agree, considering the scope of the changes I don't think anyone expected no issues at all. What will make or break it is if Turbine gets at least the major game breaker issues like the TP's straight within a reasonable amount of time. I hate the new forum and MyLoTRO layout myself but it is not even close to being a game breaker for me.
Prices...oh lord are they wicked...with my lifetime I got close to 5000 TP's and I wont spend a bit in the store right now. For 20 slot shared storage the cost is 1295 (thereabouts) TP's and most itemsare above and beyond what some would be willing to grind for. My Kin was aghast at the prices and the need to buy virtue slots. But I hear the same happened when DDO opened thier store but they got smart and the prices are doable right now. Seeing as they also own Lotro its a matter of time til they bow to the masses.

If you are a lifetimer, you will still get a bunch of TP points, depending on years subscribed. You did miss out on the extra 500 per month for June/July/August. I believe the maximum was 4500 if you have had a sub since launch, were a Founder, and played each month this summer.
As for the once a month login - that was only over the summer for the bonus TPs. If you are a VIP you will get 500 TPs a month on your subscription anniversary date each month, whether you log in or not. You could skip 3 months and still get the 1500 TPs during that time.

Some things are priced a bit high depending on how much they impact the game. Right now for $50 you can get 6900 turbine points. With that you can buy ALL the quest content packs (comes upto around 5650 points or somewhere in that area). So basicly for $50 you can have a more or less f2p game for life. Thats all the quest content packs (not counting expansions) for your entire account (current characters and future characters).
I myself would not call that a bad deal considering at that point you could play the entire standard game for free for as long as the game is alive. (I'm not saying that there might not be other things you might want to buy, but for the basics that covers all your content needs, and still leaves you with over 1k points to spend on other things - expansions, bag expansions, mounts, ect.)

I think i paid 20$ for the adventurer pack which gave 2 charslots and the shared storage. Seems a tad bit higher than that, but not much, especially with sales.

F2P launch for Europe was delayed. But the 14-day trial is still there and some claim they have reactivated old accounts for a welcome back week.
Working fine on the US servers.
If WoW = The Beatles
and WAR = Led Zeppelin
Then LotrO = Pink Floyd

I canceled my sub two weeks ago, it has run out. But I can still log into the EU servers (weird) and there seem to be lots of people on line.
It's a welcome back weekend, all vets can login.
