Tentative release date?

frankahfrankah Member UncommonPosts: 73

Let me get this straight,

BY NO MEANS AM I TROLLING NOR AM I ATTEMPTING TO GET ANYONE'S HOPES UP!

But I noticed on a website, that a pre-release date is 11/2/2010. So anyone else think this is just a hoax? (Gamestop is trying to get people all hot and bothered!)

Here's my proof! http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=75863

Professional stores using unofficial release dates should really be punished... it misleads A LOT of people.

No, the game won't be released at that date, ANet hasn't even given a timeline yet such as Fall 2011, an exact release date like Gamestop's is just unprofessional /facepalm.

Your confusion and frustration is warranted, friend. What you'll notice is that major game websites tend to make their own estimates and throw out a proposed launch date, so that one can be listed on the page. They do this with nearly every game. Needless to say, it drives players crazy because its confusing. Don't worry, when a release date comes out, EVERYONE will know. There are many players watching this game like a hawk. Anytime new information comes out, these players know even before its even publicly announced. Even before websites like IGN or Gamespot knows.

One more thing to note: this game is in Alpha stage. If you don't hear a release date for the next 2-3 months, don't be surprised. But you gotta admit...its a darn good looking game for one thats in Alpha stage....

I seen 2 dates, 11/2/2010 and 11/2/2011. Both are rubbish.

Somewhere between spring and fall 2011 are the good guesses, the more optimistic hope for april. It seems like the game is in pretty good shape, and the engine has been done for 2 years but it seems like there is a lot more to add and they need to balance PvP.

And ANET wont release until they are sure everything works as it should and the client is really stable. So it might take some time, I don't think anyone on the team are sure of an exact date either.

they will only rough balance the skills. they will polish up the balance after release since its easier that way :P

Well those dates that Gamestop uses aren't ALWAYS wrong. But, I ws just hoping that it was going t be soon, as regardless of Alpha or Beta, that games LOOkS as if it is running super stable and all is well.

I guess i'm just tired of the stale MMO genre, and I'm really hoping that GW2 will give me something to look forward too.

Think of other games in the past that were at Guild Wars 2's development stage. I.E. Playable demo at shows and stuff.

What they have on their hands is a polished, but unbalanced client version. Balance in this game will be key to making sure half the game... and I am talking about PvP is worth the box price.

They want it just right... so I give GW2 6 months before you hear anything conclusive.

well the problem is thats still alot of assumtion. it could be that they still are poloshing up other events we have not seen yet, or even compleateing some maps. we dont really know how far they realy are and what parts of the puzzle may be missing

Official pricing and release dates have not been announced. Price and release date listed are estimates only and subject to change. Worry Free Guarantee - if the price decreases between the time you place your preorder and the release date, you’ll receive the lower of the two.

My best guess and nothing but a guess is about April 1st 2011 or in the month following that date.

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

I am more incline to believe the 2010 than the 2011 release.

    Reasons:

    - I personally am very convinced that GW2 is complete that the demo will not be posible if the game is not yet 100%.

    - Previous games made by ArenaNet was completed in less than a year. GWF is complete despite it's uber-fast paced PvE.

    - ArenaNet has bigger budget and more personnel to make it happen, compare to GW1.

    - NCSoft has not released any new game this year. Expansions doesn't count.

    - NCSoft lost to Richard Garriott's lawsuit this year and needs new revenue.

    - Serve the game while the Hype is still Hot. It will be a marketing nighmare if they didn't.

    - Capitalism urges its release this year. They have to capitalize from the demand.

I can't think of any other reasons, but if the only reason why they aren't releasing it this year is because "it's not ready", they can make it ready in a short period of time, they are that efiicient. But if they said, "it's not done", then I have no reason to hope, but they didn't said it isn't done, so here's hoping.

    Ready for GW2!!!
