I’m here to tell you about gamecrush.com. Imagine logging into a website and finding a photo of a pretty girl. You chat with her for a bit, and then decide that you’d like to play a video game with her. She accepts your offer to play, there is an exchange of money, then off you both go to engage in some virtual gaming entertainment. Sounds a bit strange, eh? I thought so, too.

I think it's funny that guys are assuming they're going to "beat the hell out of her" in a game simply because she's hot and female. Ever heard of Asia Carrera? Yes....Asia Carerra, the porn star, the one with the IQ of 156 who is a member of MENSA, and absolutely kicks guys' asses all to hell in Unreal Tournament...yeah...THAT Asia Carerra. To assume you're going to "beat the hell" out of a woman in a game....pretty arrogant. You have no idea until you're playing if that is going to happen.

I think it is funny that guys are assuming they will actually be playing with a hot chick and not some 48 year old 300lb transvestite named Sparkles.
I have to question the scope of this article and the legitimacy of it even being here in the first place. Nothing about it feel genuine.
Well, again, it sounds to me like it's actually a dating service of sorts. people meet people, pay to chat, maybe it moves on to something maybe just friends, etc.
since there is a camera one can eventually be assured that they are speaking to a man, woman, or mix of the two. 60 cents per minute seems like a lot but then again, I suppose that's only for the intro part. I assume they would then log into their game and be away from the service.

It's not a dating site. The girls, or guys I guess, can make $30 an hour. It's closer to a phone sex service, without the sex. It seems the customer is paying for the fantasy of a pretty girl enjoying their geekdom. It sounds very strange and pathetic. Not sure why the article is even here.
Personally, I think its silly, but then I also don't see anything wrong with it. If people want to spend their money on such things, and other people choose to take part, its their business <shrug>. They are selling fantasy, in much the same way that games do. Its just a different focus. If the subject of sex wasn't so suppressed in much of the world, porn wouldn't be a multi billion dollar a year industry.

lmao i bet the girl you are chatting to isn't even a hot girl. It could be an ugly girl or even a guy for all you know.
I'm a guy, and I would totally do this. Unfortunately I'm also a, you guessed it, perfectionist and I would have to buy a projector to display a tropical island scene behind me along with actually shaving. It would also be a detriment to my ablity to see how high I can stack empty coke cans before they fall over as well as my ablity to play video games wearing my pants on my head.
Also, I know a girl doing this and she's awesome. I hope this didn't screw up the hate parade, back to the usual sad/mad out of work comedian banter.
Anyone with a high I.Q. who bothers to join MENSA is proving that their IQ test is nothing to do with intelligence. I was sent the paperwork to join MENSA after my I.Q test .. I read it ... I did not sign up as I concluded the only real benefit from joining MENSA would be the ability to say I was a member.
MENSA = Rip off.

As for the guys (and the occasional girl) paying to play and flirt - its your money and probably more enjoyable than some passtimes.
I used to visit this site a lot however in recent years it has become the home of negative forum posts, illogical opinions and tantrums so I visit less often.

Actually that's not the only benefit. There are activities and events for those who are inclined to attend. not saying that one would want to attend but they do exist and for people like that sort of thing and who might have a tough time being social, I imagine it would be of interest.

In response tto the guy way up above, when I said kick their ass, I wasnt shaming girl gamers. Sure, there are girls out there that are good at gaming, however, when you look at the entire female demographic its not just small its microscopic.
Now take the chicks that are good at gaming, and are attractive, yep, just got really small.
Now take the chicks that are hot and that rape at video games... how many of those have such low selfesteem they'd be willing to sell themselves. Thats really not going to be that many.
This site isnt about hot gamer girls, its about hot girls who are willing to talk to a gamer guy, be flirtatious and play what the guy wants. It has nothing to do with her skill level.
Its cheaper to go to Thailand and pay some hot chick to play a game with you then sleep with her, Amen!

Lets take into consideration that this is nothing more then a friendly get together online to meet up with someone and play a game with them... its quite a rip off. In the absolute worst sense this entire idea is a rip off. Whats the entire point of playing a game like Halo, or gears of war or something - against other players? Why would anyone in their right mind decide they want to pay someone of the opposite sex, to do the same things you are already doing, without the intention of some sort of sexual gratification. I mean lets be honest. You are paying a girl to play a video game with you.
I just can't believe such a system exists, it kind of puts a new low on desperation to find some interaction with somebody that was obviously never meant for you to interact with - in a setting that will not, or rarely will, fulfill the expectations of the one paying. They should rename it to ProstitutionOnline, or if they honestly expect the intentions to stay PG-13 - BuyAFriend.com.
Services like this have existed in every form of new technology. Pay per minute to talk to some chick on the phone, then to chat on the internet, then to watch her on a camera. The reasons these exist for every form of technology is there are always people who are willing to pay for it.
Is it sad? Yes.
Is it profitable? It has been in every other form so I am sure this one will work too.
There are people out there with zero social skills who never get to be around women since they don't know how to start a conversation. Those people tend to have money lying around. It is that simple.
I think it is sad to use such a service but it is genius to start the service. Talk about the easiest job in the world for those girls. They literally get paid to pretend to be interested in a guy for 10-30 minutes while playing a video game. If I was a chick I'd do it. Hell I'll do it if they let me right now and just pretend to be one to make some easy money.
The difference mainly is, you are going into the phone conversations and internet chats knowing that you will be getting some sort of sexual satisfaction, where here, they are just using this as a gaming interaction, with run of the mill everyday titles. Its just a new low for the male species.
On a side note, I think you'd make a great pretend girl. If its profitable let me know, I'll put on a blonde wig, talk in a high voice, and play Halo. I don't even know what I'd need the blonde wig for, I'd just wear it.
Exactly, the difference is what makes this gig easier. When the phone you have to actually act turned on and have phone sex. Here you just play a game and pretend the person is an interesting conversationist. I would think that would be easier.
This truly isn't even about sex (well I'm sure some guys are buying in hoping there will be some sort of sexual satisfaction but those same guys think they will get dates with hot chicks by hitting on female characters in MMOs). It is literally about lonely guys (which there are plenty of in video games to go along with the well adjusted ones) who have a desire for companionship and don't mind paying to get it. When the market exists why not make a service that collects on it?
They do say they need guy play dates but I don't see those people making nearly as much as the women. By far the largest gaming market is straight males. You'd need the wig I think, they mention that once the "date" starts the web cams go on.
I think I read about this on CNN.com quite a few months ago. I think it is legitimate...and ridiculous. To each their own, Then again...CNN isn't exactly a reliable source..has anyone noticed the crap qualityy of writing on that sight? Pathetic. Misquotes..grammar and spelling errors...just plain incorrect info or nil research done at times. Think i'll go write for them.
