Quest to Find New MMO
As everyone else says, I'm looking for a new game to play/maybe come back to if it has improved over time, but regardless these are the factors I'm looking for:
Primarily PvE but good options for PvP alternative to break up the cycle, maybe I'd say 75% PvE and 25% PvP in that repspect.
Decent population numbers, though I know that's very vague to state, but I hate trying a new MMO only to find that it's a ghost town until you get to "Level 50" or higher end zones.
Good lore and story, I actually take the time to immerse myself and read everything about the world itself
Customization of character and respectable graphics and environment.
Now there are few games which I will not play: World of Warcraft (Done so many times, just not interested anymore) and Aion (All of my friends are Elyos, and with their "brilliant" mechanics for population balance no one in the United States can even make a character for that side). In addition Aion just had TOO many fetching quests or "Kill 10 rats and bring me their tails".
If it's worth anything, I have an excellent computer for performance and I'd rather not do a Free to Play game with lots of microtransactions.
Any suggestions from the good community?

Ah yes, forgot to mention the games I've played, which are as follows:

Everquest II
Tabula Rasa (Sadly gone)
Star Wars Galaxies (Which I will never go back to, Pre CU player personally)
Well Aion 2.0 has changed alot since the expansion in terms of xp per quest etc.....its stilla game for the hardcore mmo player though
A nice free to play is AikA global but that is based on pvp at mass
Warhammer Online maybe worth a try it also has an unimited free trial
cant think of any with Pve and PvP though besides the word i hate saying so ill just place 3 stars as its name *** ^_^
i recently was looking for new mmo too and have tried pretty much the same games as you with few extras like darkfall and ryzom, i then got a post with someone suggesting age of conan which i'm tring now, did my trial and purchased the game, not 100% sure what kind of % each part of the game is (pve and pvp) but seems pretty even.
i suggest take alook, it has unlimited free trial but you can't leave the starter island. you can easly get to level 25 there which is plenty of time to decide if you enjoy the game. not sure if the above poster who posted the 3 stars ment AoC (age of conan) or WoW but you've already tried WoW so unless he's slacking didn't read your post i don't know :P.
need any questions about the game i'll try do my best but if you need some more indepth ingame comments i'd head over to age of conan forums on this site, i got my answers within 10mins over there.
What's Aika like when its 1000 vs 1000?
I'd suggest FFXIV, pre-order head start starts next week. PvP isnt in yet though.
Despite not liking F2p games, I think LOTRO fits along with EQ2.
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
