Now that Bioware owns Mythic I hope they put some fire under Mythic's bottom side to make DAoC a better game, including graphics and UI [that a lot of people have wanted.
I do not mind the UI and think the graphics are ok. Durning fast combat I do not take time to look at swaying grass or leaves in trees. I am too busy trying to kill the other guy and survive, and that is what is important to me.
I have heard that the CryEngine will be used on DAoC, unfortunately when I finally found a page with information IE8 froze on me, again, so, I coud not get the information I wanted. Thanks Microsoft! I just began to read and I think I saw a date, May or June of this year for work to begin.
Does anyone have any informatin regarding changes to DAoC because of Bioware ownership?

DAoC is essentially dead in the water. EA and Warhammer are to blame.
I don't really understand the UI complaint, due to the fact that DAoC's UI is fully moddable, and has been long before WoW existed. Nevertheless, the UI was just revamped a mere month ago. I don't see what else needs to be done. Now that you can train your skills with a slider, there's nothing wrong with the base UI. Everything I want is there.
As for graphics, the CryEngine thing is just a side project from some gamer, not actual things that are going to happen in game. That would take an entire engine rewrite and Mythic has made is clear their focus is on keeping WAR from sinking. They have no resources for EA.
Lastly, Bioware owning Mythic will mean little to nothing. Mythic are the MMO veterans, not Blizzard. Mythic hasn't been effective since EA bought it, unfortunately.
You also have to remember that corporate aquisitions don't necessarily mean reshuffling of staff throughout departments. The best staff will always be in the most profitable divisions. Sure the can learn from each other more now but it doesnt mean there are big changes incoming.
I can't see DAoC making a come back.
DAoC used to have such an amazing racial starting location system that gave the game a realistic feel of lore and history. It's all been torn out and replaced with one starting location for all realms. I understand that the population has to do with doing this, but it just hurts the game for me.
DAoC used to be able to drag me into its world. Make me feel like I'm really a person from Albion and I was addicted and obsessed with the idea of PvP... I have none of that now. The original world was amazing until the expansions came along and made the original world's value fade to nothing.
Yup, stuff like /map, glowing icons over NPC heads, instances, /level 20, and the ONE starting town for all races, really hurt the feel of the game. Sadly, if DAoC 2 was made, the devs would probably leave in all of these things, except /level 20. That at least they realized they messed up with.
Mythic has been gutted and split into working on SWTOR (vomits) Ultima Online, and keeping DAoC running. Its very clear what Mythic has to do to bring the game back, but they refused for so long now its rather pointless. They WERE working on an "Origin" server. It had overwhelming positive response. Just the original game and MAYBE Shrouded Isles. But it got canned when WAR started going under. I blame WoW and EA.
Shoot, man, even WoW has racial starting locations...
Just to clarify, Bioware doesnt own Mythic, EA owns Mythic and Bioware.
EA has put the management of Bioware, at the head of Mythic, in essence putting Bioware in charge of Mythic opperations.
However, since most of Mythic as we once knew it is gone... Just look at it from the aspect that Bioware is now running DAOC, UO, and WAR
Bioware is not going to dedicate massive resources to DAoC unless they feel that this title is capable of grabbing large # of subscribers. Bioware has done some things right in the past ... but in the end they're still a business which is looking to maximum profits.
DAoC is a dying game. I don't think Bioware will revamp DAoC, however thay may develop something new a la DAoC lol
The best thing Mythic/BIoware could do is Give Free DAOC subs to all WAR subscribers. HOnestly I wager that would help both games increase player numbers
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
There are thousands of people still playing DAoC, so it is not dead in the water, even though Mythic has tried since day one to make customers unhappy, not by malice, but by ignorance and not being in touch with the player base. They may be ingnored by Mythic and subscription dollars may be going to WAR, but, the many thousands of people playing still enjoy it.
Negative talk and people refusing to play because they did not like ToA should re-visit it, play the old kingdom and SI, and make level 39 toons and storm Molvic. Siege engines are free, just make a plan, grab a couple of groups and have fun!
I forgot about training with a slider, I have not played since it was introduced, and, I never had a problem NOT using a slider... It makes me sick knowing that EA and Mythic are trying to revive WAR, and money from DAoC must be going into the WAR coffer, what a waste.
Where is Bioware in all this? Didn't they purchase DAoC? Pathetic, disgraceful.
Hopefully I am wrong and Bioware will get Mythic on track
Regarding Mythic not being effective since EA bought them, I have seen many more improvements since EA took over. Many were concerned that EA would destroy DAoC, however, drops got better, crafting got better, more mobs were added, servers were consolidated, graphics imprved, more instances were added, starting aras were introduced, for those not wanting to be in the newb area they could leave and pick up tasks and go to dungeons, or the old hunting grounds from 9 years ago.
And, for those that hate ToA and later, play in Molvic, it is still a lot of fun, and Mythic nerfed most ToA+ gear so peole would not be overpowered,as some people were new and could not easily get high level gear. On the flip side, those people that put great time and effort in getting gear and bought expensive crafted items lost all of that time and platnum spent on gear and had to re-gear, and, many of those playes left.
So, if you really want the flavor of the original game make Molvic toons and repopulate a very active area! -- And stop whining about ToA gear!! Mythic provided options for you to play.
Bioware and Mythic, start reading these forums and get away from VN!!

I've tried to go back to DAoC and do this. While I'm leveling in the forest, familiar feelings return, sure. I wonder what PvP is gonna be like. I wonder what my class' strengths will be or what spec I'll settle for. I wonder who is out here with me but then the answer is no one. I then wish there were people to play with. I want to see random people out in the world. When I think about level 50 I just realize there's no new players. It's only the same people who have been playing all these years like me with a handful of people bringing a few new characters who just hit 50. Or in molvic's case, everyone is just staying twinked at 39 - that's okay if you enjoy staying at that level - there's just no epicness to it like there is at level 50.
So yeah, that solution is only good for a little bit of nostalgia.
