Like the title say, im just curious who broke your hearth in the past. I just want to make an idea of why people are so afraid of trusting SE and who are those to blame.Mainly becouse so far i have not found 1 single reason to doubt SE.
I can change my mind if someone gives me a strong reason not to trust that down the road this game will rock.

Lets start the list by looking at the convex, MMORPGs that delivered each and every thing each designer may have mentioned they'd like to add to the game:
...
Gosh, that was a short list.
Any specific promises that a Final Fantasy XIV may have made like to mention? Give us a link to where it was made, or I'm going to have to assume you're getting upset about promises that you imagined instead of actually occured.
the game's vision =/= promise
I meant in terms of content and in general everythin that wont be there at release.Just wondering since every poster tells me im a fanboy/troll for beliving the game at release is half baked and down the road with the updates/patches/balances/ expansions/ is when is going to make a stand on top with the best MMOs up to date.
Just trying to get provend wrong , in other words.Everytime i say this i get the "every developer on X game said this or that and never happened" , i just whant to compare this developers with SE and maybe i might actually acknowledge some of the problems people keep pointing out as a big issue with the game.
Blizzard: "Our takeover by merger with Activision will not have any impact upon World of Warcraft."
One month later, plans for a cash shop are revealed, and Bobby Kotick reveals his plans for Blizzard's games. Shortly after, it is announced that Starcraft 2 will be broken into 3 parts even before expansions are released, each costing as much as 60 dollars (varying upon who you purchase from) with CEs being even more. Players' IDs are also made available to the public with the Real ID system. Blizzard has officially been replaced by Activision-Blizzard.
Electronic Arts' Dragon Age: Origins. For the complete game, if you purchased it new, you will end up paying close to (or over) 100 dollars, due to their removal of content to sell as DLC. Awakening is not included in this cost. I know, not a MMO, but it still counts.
I'll be able to think of a few more, but those are the ones that come to mind when it comes to broken promises and betraying your customers.
Did someone say Vanguard? Brad McQ is that you?
No you can't.
If you aren't already convinced from the OB and bizzilion threads like (insert FF14 sux thread here) then you never will be. Different people make different games and assets for SE all the time. There have been some great SE games. This one just happens to be not so great. Maybe they will recover from this kick in the vajayjay and make a better game next time. God knows they haven't invested much into it.

....weird timing there, Locke signature followed by Locke avatar.
I played ffxi on the very begining and it was a lot worst than this and it became the game i played longest on my mmo life.I know is 2010 and all but i just whant a real reason not to trust SE.I played the OB and while it had problems i can see how much potential it has to shine.
The main point of my thread is that im tired of geting the "empty promises" speech everytime i say that the game have potential. So im just wondering how many of you who have said that have actual facts of the why i shouldnt instead of just tossing it there for the sake of doing so.
So far i only see blizard as the bigest next disapointment up to date and the way i see it ffxiv is leaning more towards wow and less to ffxi imo. This doesnt have to be a bad thin for all, but for me , it is.
Anyways going to sleep ill reply tomorow after work.
Peace.
Hey, Chou, I've noticed from your previous posts that you harbor an extreme dislike of the MMO industry in general, and that you have never even played the beta itself. I have played the open beta, and I can tell you that the game is not quite as bad as you think it is. In fact, it reminds me of FFXI quite a bit.
I've also noticed that for some reason you seem to think a game which we have literally seen less than 10% of, even in beta, is a full version. I can honestly say that the game is actually on par with any previous FF game (and much better than FF10-2 and 12, possibly even 13.) The game is still extremely complex, even if it has been made accessable to those who have less than an hour a day to invest into it. The maps may share some features, but that is because they were going for some sort of REALISM, not laziness. In real life, certain features tend to repeat themselves in the landscape.
However, the game will not be "perfected" until at least 3 months after release...just like every other MMO ever made. Heck, some have been out for years and are still buggy as sin.
Oh, that's simple: they're jealous that they can't seem to enjoy the game when so many more of us are and, instead of recognizing if so many of us enjoy the game they should be turning their criticism inward, are lashing out with their tiny fists thusly.
I don't think most of them would be willing to do the necessary research. Granted, the really determined ones have shown that htey can invent some really oddball reasons based off of real data to hate the game. I believe you've already met Choujiofkono?
The biggest event here I know was Funcom´s Age of Conan. People had even had "Failcom" signatures for months. Funcom basically said a few days before release "don´t worry about content, we have it all in our internal build, which is in the client at release."
After release soon people found out that there was almost no content after level 20.
Other glorious releases were Darkfall, Star Trek Online, and and some more. And always the same text: "Will be fixed soon and we have big big plans for this game, so join us"
Edit: and Vanguard, and Dark and Light... okay, many more
That one MMORPG with the people in it. Also, there's some things you can do in it. Yeah, that MMORPG.

Wow, thats pretty much my first reaction to this. The OP asked a simple question, he didn't bash on any game, he didn't get nasty. Why are people getting all rage like? Look I get a lot of people like FFXIV, as well as a lot of people don't like it. I get that fan's don't want to hear people complaining, but you came into the OP's thread (in which he didn't even mention FFXIV) The MOST I can see people complaining about is that this isn't in a good spot. If this is asking about any game perhaps it shouldn't be in the FFXIV thread. With that said it doesn't mean you guys need to come in here and act like 12 year olds on a sugar fueled tantrum.
Geldon "they're jealous", "lashing out with their tiny fists", "hate the game" where did the OP imply this at all? Even if you read into the question which I think people should not do, just because you could read an implication that OP feels SE broke some sort of promise, does not mean he hates the game or is any of that other crap you wrote. Settle Down.
Caval, Maybe you shouldn't assume what people are thinking or that people aren't capable to change their minds on something. OP may or may not change his mind, but if you really believe that he won't and you don't approve of threads like this, why are you trolling them? You are just giving attention, bumping the post, and coming off as super immature.
Now I don't know if the OP is a troll or not, but I certainly didn't see anything in this post that was hateful or nasty to anyone including SE in the OP's message. He asked a legitimate question that certain people may or may not feel inclined to answer. If people do feel a certain way maybe you guys on both sides should quit jumping all over them. Just because a point of view isn't your own does not mean it's somehow wrong or the person with the thought is somehow stupid. Chill out people and act like adults. Granted you don't have to if you don't want to, this is the internet, but there is already a bunch of people on both sides of the fence that immediately give me a head ache just by reading their name. That's sad because I am sure when you take the nerd rage away, I bet their idea's are based on something, and it very well might be something constructive. But spazzing out is a good way to get a lot of people to stop reading anything you may have to say. So if you start thinking "Ha! no one can even debate my reasoning!", let me tell you, no it isn't that. It's probably because no one wants to take the time to sort through the verbal fecal matter spewing out in large interweb bursts.
I wasn't referring to the OP when I wrote that. If you want to see who I was referring to, I've seen enough examples in the past few hours to say you can trip over them easily enough, and they earned every little adjective in full.
Furthermore, if you look at the post I replied to when I was speaking to the OP just now...
.... he said he as not implying Square-Enix broke some sort of promise: he was asking people if the developers did break a promise to them, to see how many of these complaints about FFXIV actually hold water when compared to other MMORPG.
Tswthoradin, you really need to pay a lot better attention before you get all critical of how the other posters conduct themselves, at least get an idea about what's going on here.
I think most people are on to your troll. Might have better luck hating on a different game for awhile.

This thread would have been much more successful in the General Discussion for the site. I have to question its relevance to FF14.
I love snails.
I love every kinda snail.
I just want to hug them all, but I cant.
Cant hug every snail.
Well AION really pissed me off with their caring about Server merges and then a week later this happens. Also this has yet to happen. (its that AION vision trailer we all melted too awhile back).
For WoW, You apparently had to be 80 to unlock the DK class. (The quotations in middle of the article). It does seem like Blizzard doesn't promise too much, or the promises are so vague they can easily point out "we never actually said that." Good for them! I mean seriously, going back to try and find blizz contradict itself, they are so freakin vague about everything that you can't; because technically, yes there are destructible buildings, dk's really ARE endgame only, new areas WERE added.
But here are some Blizz promises for starcraft (I know not an MMO) that never came:
Blizzard showcased phase cannons moving, and Soul Hunters existing, and Infesters infesting Terran buildings (infesters had ALOT of abilities that didn't make it. To name a few starcraft goodies that didn't make it to release.
Trying to be specific with REAL company quotes and then what really happened. But it hard
And does any of this count as companies not keeping their word, or just natural development of games, with things added and dropped like the making of a movie, or the authoring of a book...

I'd say every MMO that I knew about before it released...ruined it for me.
The devs have all these discussions about features that will be in the game, and I'm like sweet...nice...awesome...Then you actually get to experience those features and it's like Meh, oh...Is that it...
No MMO can live up to the vision that they put in our head prior to there being a product.
I think my main disillusionment is that i like say...80% of the product but the other 20% absolutely ruins it for me. That's what brings out my inner troll. Dog gamn it! This could have been good if...
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
I seem to remember the WotLK box showcasing some nifty air to air vehicle combat in Winterspring....
Yeah, it was canceled because they couldn't get it to work properly (and even when added to a pve raid it still didnt work properly for eye of eternity.)
