UI Not static, this is an MMO, things will change....

Just remember folks,

All MMO's go through change, that is the beauty of them, even with UI's, so nothing is set in stone. Judging a game from beta to release and saying it will flop, blah blah, is not the best way to go about it. Just think of the current crop of successful MMO's (yes, even WOW), and you should compare them as they are now to what they were like when they were first released, and you will find some of them are drastically different - including the UI, ect.

I have no doubt that 6months to a year from launch there will be people going on with "ah, see, now its as it should have been at launch, blah blah", and that's great to do, but I feel most sorry for those that do say that and then are upset because they missed getting a collectors edition (wishing they had been with the game from the start)

So to all those whiners, stop worriying about what its like now, and make sure you get those pre-order CE's in place for when the six months is up, you wont regret it! :)

It doesn't matter how good it is 6 months to a year from launch; if people hate it at launch, there is little chance of a recovery.

At the end of the day I just with they allowed it to be moddable (I'm assuming they didn't)

Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.

The issue here is that the client is made to run on two totally different operating systems, very hard to split your resources between the two.

Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...

If you can't stand a gamepad-friendly interface, it's probably best you move along, as if FFXI kept a console-friendly interface for 7 years it's pretty likely XIV will follow suit, regardless of how malleble the interface may or may not be to the developers.

On the other hand, if you are capable of adapting, welcome aboard.  It's not a bad interface at all, it's just a bit different than what you might be used to.  Well, it does have some nasty GUI lag I'd like them to get rid of, but apparently they're aware of this and working on that.

This statement can not exist without a great deal of arrogance on the writers part. To reach the conclusion that 'there is little chance of a recovery' the poster has to assume there are SO many people who hate this game that there won't be enough left that do like it for it to thrive. In this case, that assumption is not based in any facts at all, only in the arrogance in the authors own opinion. Even then, there is proof that games that do terribly bad at launch, can and do get better and start to revive years after launch.

(DISCLAIMER - The use of the word YOU in the above post is not directed at any one person in particular, but towards those who fall into the category itself - there is no personal attack here, neither intentional nor implied.)

They really created a dichotomy that didn't need to exist.

But yeah, SE is like Brad McQuaid, they make decisions and you live with them (if you want to play)
