WWII Online = Good :)

I just recently re-subscribed to WWII Online and the game has been improved quite a bit and I must say I am impressed. I last played a long time ago and I am glad to see this game has survived and continuoulsy being updated with many improvments sure to come because in my opinion after giving the game a red hot go it's the best MMOG I have played.

The main reason I enjoy it so much over other MMOGs is because its player run, pvp all the way (except for the AI guards) and you are actually playing to win a war rather than just running around completing quests etc just to get to the next level for your character.

Good graphics add to a gaming experience and WWII Online may not have top notch graphics but it is more than made up for in gameplay, nice view distances and well simulated vehicles, planes etc. It would be nice to see the game grow with more people joining in which would make for some even bigger battles.

I dont think its a good game its a great game

I agree the graphics are not the best but the game play defiantly makes up for the graphics.  If you like the eye candy then ww2 online is not for you.  If you like a game that takes team work, hard work and patiance then ww2 online is for you.

I hope ww2 online keeps growing and gets new players.

It is a little hard to get use to all the keys and gameplay.  But all you need to do is ask and people are more then gladly to help.

WWIIOnline is a brilliant game. No where else can you get the same teamwork on such a huge battlefield.

    Praise the game!!! imageimageimage

I've played Battlefield 1942 and all it's iterations since they came out. I'm VERY interested in WW2 Online from what I've read.

How would you compare BF and WW2O in the following areas:

    1. Graphics
    2. Teamwork
    3. Immersion in game environment
    4. Variety of weaponry
    5. Physics engine

Those are all I could think of quick so if there is anything else you can add, please do!

Graphics: some graphica ,i think, are pretty darn good in this game, but overall i would say 1942 pretty much has it beat. The infantry is not pretty to look at really but that shouldnt really matter since you are to busy shooting them to really notice. The environment is looking a lot better than it used to with some decent looking trees, bushes and ground clutter. When driving a tank at dusk for some reason the world looks pretty damn realistic.

Teamwork: This is an area where WWII online is way above the rest. Its hard to survive on your own for very long and without communicating what is going on on the the battlefield your team is not going to do well. Lots of teamspeak going on with mixed units of tanks, infantry, air and various artillery is how to win.

Immersion in game environment: Fear... This is the only shooter that ive actually been afraid to get shot in. sometimes you work so hard to get a tank into a good position only to have a sapper come running out of the bushes and blow you. Or when youre driving down that road to a town and you see an enemy plane circling over your head and youre praying he doesnt see you before you get to a group of trees. Not to mention the sounds of gunfire from rifles, whizzing of artillery shells as they fly over your head, the explosions from tank shells and the popping of flak while trying tro hear if an enemy tank is coming your way.

Variety of weaponry: other than rifles, smgs, rifle grenadiers, sappers, lmg, tanks of all varieties you would find in wwii, armored cars, several different anti tank guns, anti tank rifles, various anti aircraft guns, various fighter planes, bombers and flying transports there really isnt that much.

Physics engine: Some good, some bad. for the most part this game has more physics than any other game out there. All of the weapons have many calculations when firing then when hitting armor many more calculations are made to see what happes to the shells and the fragments of armor that go flying. As far as infantry physics you wont find any jumping or ragdoll type of stuff most of that is reserved for vehicles and their weapons. The flight part of the game is pretty awesome, its like a whole wwii flight sim in itself. It would be better to find someones thread that gives a great description of this part of the game some have even used pictures to show what happens when you hit a tank with a shell from another.

pretty much what puff said. I would add that the immerison factor is what really sells the game. INTENSE is the only word to describe it. If you lose situational awarness for even a second ur dead. Mike the CRS sound guy is awsome. I love getting into huge fire fights and hearing all the sounds, its like out of a movie. Also he forgot to mention that you can also play the naval aspect of the war by spawning a destroyer, transport, or patrol boat. As someone who ha played both BF and this, I would say that BF 1942 doesnt even come close to WWIIOL. They are different though, cause if you dont hit the various types of armor with flank shots or on the various sweet spots, chances r you wont get another one.

Thanks puff and dunny, just want I wanted to hear. I'm a sucker for war games/movies (got it from my grandfather who was one who stormed the beaches of Normandy and lived to tell me all about it) and this game is shaping up to be the one I'll stick with long after BF2 has come and gone.

Thanks all, I think I'll be popping a $10 bill into this machine and get my self a little slice of WW2 lover's heaven.

You should get a 30 day grace period when you first sign up before you start paying per month so if you don't find you like it you can cancel your subscription withing those 30 days only at the cost of a subsciption key or price you bought the game for. Hopefully you'll enjoy the game and just give it a chance to grow on you.
Also be prepared to face the fact that you can sometimes spend many minutes moving whatever unit you are from your spawn point to the objective area just to be killed or destoyed straight away when you get there or on the way but that's the game so you just respawn and try again.

Oh yeah...I experienced this several time last night at Dinat. The worst was I took off in a light bomber from the nearest airbase, flew for about 15 minutes just to get to Dinat and then after one strafing/bombing run, I ended up going into a flatspin, stalled and crashed. These planes are going to take some time to get used to....ALOT of time.
