Well good luck playing from Europe. If you can find others in the same area as you to play. But you are going to find that playing on games hosted by US players and having US players play in your missions, that the lag is going to be a game breaker.

Vindictus does not have Nexon hosted mission servers. All missions are hosted by the player who starts up the mission. This game is VERY VERY low lag dependent. Anything over a 160 ms ping all around your going to find that the game just plays like crap for everyone that has a high ping to the host. Anything above a 300 ms ping and the game is unplayable with stop go gameplay across the board.

This is the main reason they limit (or try to limit) the regions for this game. It requires shooter style pings in order to enjoy it.

I agree. They lost me....before the game even started, just because they are region based.

    You made me laugh!

It's not about being "country obsessed" (whatever the hell that means), there are licensing problems that companies have to work around, you think it's so easy releasing a game? Go and make one.

well...it's always good to know that i made somebody happy.

and it is...o.o....i'm not only talking about nexon here, but also about these stupid rules, made up by stupid people.

I also never mentioned anything about me making a game or anything being too early. altough it would have been nicer if nixon had eu and NA version released at the same time...it would have made me less jealous.

    And not so dissapointed.

They finally posted about it being region locked. Hopefully this finally ends all the topics popping up on their forums.

Edit: Most people don't understand why its region locked. Its simple. The instances in game are Peer to Peer. If someone from Europe or Japan hosted a game, and a bunch of NA people join, everyone would lag and the whole instance would be a horrible experience.  Had a few bad hosts during Closed Beta, leaves such a bad taste in your mouth with all the jumping around and rubberbanding.

No its locked due to licensing issues, if the game lags on peer to peer from US to Europe then its a shit game.

Seriously how many games have you joined where you lag because of the region? I can name a handful but they come from when I was on a 56k.

Hold on. So when I have a group of people join up with me, they're running off my shit?

Well, time to uninstall then. The Pando bullshit was one thing, easily uninstalled after I downloaded the game. But I'll be damned if I'm using my capped bandwidth to support other people just because Nexon wants to save some bucks and use cheap servers and little of their own bandwidth.

This has always been the case with Vindictus. It's a Action RPG game, not a full blown MMO.

As far as region based lagging goes. Anytime information has to travel a long distance the round trip ping time increases. This is just the nature of having a fiber based backbone for the internet.

I can say that certaintly seems the case.  I live on the US East Coast, but that server has been down.  I connected to the West Coast Server last night.  In most cases the servers are just labeled for players to group up more easily based on time zone, but they are all housed in the same data center.  I expected to get fine performance on the West server.

Solo gameplay and running around the town was fine, no lag at all.  Then the missions came.  Depending on who was hosting the mission, the lag could be horrible.  It varied from one host to the next.  I didn't realize they were doing this at first. I just thought it was the game.  One mission I played had people rubberbanding like crazy.  It was horrible.  The next game was perfectly fine.
