What class for solo leveling?

I just bought the game but before I even open the box I'd like to know which class/race is a good soloer. Like most of us, I don't have the time to commit to spamming LFG and I play in short spurts. End game I'd like to be effective in a group though for long gaming weekends (when my wife lets me). Any suggestions?

Rogue, Hunter, or Warlock. I have played the first two and have heard nothing but good things about the third as far as soloing goes.

Hunters are excellent soloers and have some nice exploration abilities like tracking and increased movement speed.

They can usually escape death when confronted by overwhelming odds by sacrificing their pet or using feign death.

Thanks for the help. After reading up on those 3 classes I decided to roll an Orc Warlock. I usually don't play a caster in these games so it'll be a nice change. It's just hard to remember I'm only wearing cloth image

Im a Rogue and I can solo anything 3 - 4 levels above me, Warriors are also good for soloing and I heard a Paladin can handle himself.

Hunters and warlock are great for soloing but be careful picking a class based purely on soloing .

The hunter for one is not really a wanted class at higher level instance and the pet pathing is still a bit buggy in many instances.

I have grouped with hunters that forgot to call off the pet when we jump a ledge and next minute we have like 30 mobs rushing down on our raid causing a complete wipe out.

So you will never (at least i never seen ) a raid group say "hunters wanted".

Warlock is not a bad choice(which you have made) since you often get raid parties want one(but never seen any raid group want more then one though).

Mage would have been the better choice as you get good soloing and are always a wanted member of a raid party.

I would have to agree with whats being said, Hunters and Warlocks are usually considerd the solo classes in the game, personally i have a Hunter as i think this class appeals to me more then the Warlock (which doesn't interest me one bit) and without a doubt soloing is pretty effortless with this class.

But it can be hard to find high lvl instance groups as your not really a mage or warrior, but you have great range ability which makes you useful in some cases. But as you said you were after a solo lvler so that shouldn'e really be the deciding factor. In the end go for the one the interests you the most...::::01::

I had an easier time soloing my druid then my rogue, I know druids are loved end game as well.

I soloed from 1-60 as a dwarf warrior. I didn't have that much free time but I kept banging away at it and I hit 60 in the first week of Febuary. It's possible to solo and level fast with any class. But I think Rogues, Mages, Shaman, and Hunters do it best.

All classes are soloable! Yes even a Mage can solo.

The question to ask is: "What's the fastest class for solo leveling?"

    HUNTER!

No other class can level faster solo other than a hunter.

#1 - Your hunter never gets hurt, your pet does!
#2 - When your pet is low on health, you can heal it with a spell whenever you want!
#3 - If for some reason the mob decides to attack you instead of your pet, you have 2 spells to turn back the mobs towards your pet: Feign Death and Disengage.
#4 - Pets should keep all mobs towards them anyways because of the pet ability called Growl, which attracts mobs to ALWAYS attack them.
#5 - If again all fails, and the mobs still want to attack you, you can use the melee attack called Wingclip, which slows down the mob for 10 seconds by 40%, just run away, let your pet keep attacking it until it decides to go after your pet again.
#6 - If you're still being chased by a mob, activate Aspect of the Beast to run 40% faster! Just make sure it's not shooting range attacks at you or else you'll be stunned.
#7 - You'll never have to worry about getting near a mob, since while your pet is attacking and holding the agro, you can just sit back and shoot arrows at it non-stop. And besides, with all the bonuses a Hunter gets for RANGE WEAPONS, you'll always deal 20-40% more damage using a weapon/gun than using a melee weapon anyways, thus rendering Melee weapons useless other than in PVP.
#8 - After you win a battle, you can go on to the next one. For speed grinding, never use special attacks! Let your Mana Regenerate during battle, after the battle is over, heal your pet, go to the next mob and repeat. Unlike other classes, they need to rest, sit down, drink or eat to regen their Health or Mana. We hunters NEVER have to rest! We just kill over and over again and stop only when we feel like it.

So please, tell me which class can kill mobs quickly, where we barely ever have to rest to eat/drink in between fights and where we are a tank, puller and healer all in 1 class!

Problem is, hunters just got nerfed, we now suck royally in PVP. No one wants us in Level 60 instances. So if you play a hunter, at level 60, get rich all on your own (You can easily make 10-20 gold an hour soloing lower level Instances) reroll another better character, buy all the best equipment for your alt, and have fun with your alt.

Hunters are soloers from level 1 and remain soloers for level 60. Sad but true, but why would any level 50+ raid groups pick a hunter over a warrior, healer, warlock or rogue? Unless they really cannot find anyone else, they will group the hunter.

Every class I tried soloed well. It's not like some other games that you may be familiar with (cough..EQ...cough...DAoC..cough) in which half or more of the claasses are completely dependant on a group to get anything done. This was one thing I really liked about WoW.

The Hunter is generally considered the strongest soloer. I personally found a presist annoying to solo with in the low teens, but if the right talents are picked they can grow into fantastic soloers. WoW is one of the very few games that I would reccomend picking whatver appeals to you.

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.

first hunters are not best its player who make class best i saw on my server a aliance and a horde hit 60 in less then 2 weeks after launch a priest and a mage.

On other server a warrior and a mage lvl60 in 2 weeks i had a character there no hunter in side both servers lol.

And in instance or raid 3 main classes ask, surtenly not a warlock or a rogue as you mention:P :Mage, priest and warrior!!!!

as the dwarves would say "ahhh .. huntere... .. yesssss .. huntere..."

oh ... wait ... that was winter ... sorry..  image

Someone said that it's not the class that makes the difficulty, it's the skills of the player (or lack of)

I beg to differ.... I rerolled a priest and it's a whole different ball game.

I pretty much soloed my hunter up to 40 and then started grouping more... Well with my level 20 priest, I am always looking for people. Sure, I could solo missions.. but it's a hell of a lot easier with someone else to take the hits!

Priest you can solo fine, as long as you make sure the enemy is dead before you run out of mana. I play a priest right now, and our weapon skills are abysmal at best (as they should be for a caster class). However, you are pretty much screwed if you run out of mana. Sure, you can zap with yer wand for a while, but when that beast starts beating on you, the wand won't keep you alive for long.
