Many fans and prospective players have been getting edgy of late, wondering why it is that DC Universe Online developers have been playing their collective cards so close to the chest. After all, the game is due out within weeks and so much is yet unknown. In his latest blog post on the MMORPG.com Staff Blog, Bill Murphy opines that maybe this is a good thing. See what you think and then jump on the forums and have your say!
Like many of you, I’m itching for more details on SOE’s DC Universe Online. Having played it a bit at E3, and being a giant comic book dork, I’m anxious to know more about the character creation, the final power set listings, the complexity of the Secret Identity system, and so on and so forth. And while I can pester and bug the developers as much as I want, they’re not going to reveal anything until they feel they’re ready. And maybe that’s the “good” in all the silence.

So hungry for any detail that we have to use our website to force some information out of the game developer or risk the game community of the website getting agitated and losing interest in our game, or decrying the developer for hiding some game ruining secret?
Bleh, disgusting.
I'm in a bit of a quandry as to whether to try it . Am a long term fan of DC comics but have been burnt by SOE one too many times . I think I will proberbly wait a few months and see what people are saying about it .
I keep thinking i am going to buy this game but then i realize that i have no idea what it is.
So far from the bit i have managed to gather,, and overall it really is just alittle bit,, I have alot of interrest in getting DCO. There has been just enough information to keep me interrested and not enough to ruin the game before it ever comes out.. Yes i realize that there are alot of players out there that are on edge wanting ever scrap of information before the game ever gets released.. T M I is a bad thing.. Games get beat to death by trolls who dont get every little thing they want anymore,, and they nag over stupied crap all the time over usless issue's.. OVERALL im happy with the information we have been givin and HOPING SOE gets this one at least 1/2 right..
No words about when beta starts either. I think the game won't be released this year.
If only Sony came out and said those words 'It's going to be awesome, just wait and be surprised' it would most definitely put my mind at ease and make me more eager for release!
I don't need to no every in and out of a game before release, but from what I read and hear so far in small drips and drabs from sources other than Sony, all I can think is we are in for a delayed release, or DC Universe will be released unfinished and die the way SOE are known.
Cmon Sony, Please surprise ME!!!
You know, if people would actually take the time to do some research you'd see there is quite a bit of info out there on DCUO. The devs regularly post on DCUOsource.com's forums and the DCUO facebook page with info. I suggest you check them out if you have any questions.
Tin Foil Hat time..
SOE has been so savaged by this forum, they won't give any info to the editors. Make fun of our NGE decision, will you! No DCUO SOUP FOR YOU

Actualy i am thinking its more along the lines of their game isnt that great....
thats why they havent had alot of information they wanted to share...and they have not opened the testing to many people.
Having joined the DCUO Source community which has served as the most excellent proxy in the absence of anything official, found a good team of folks and joined a PA, made up a character concept, gotten excited and pre-ordered, and then spent a few weeks of waiting engaging in some pre-emptive fanfics building up my character, I'm dismayed by the sudden decline in interest that has come about as a result of this period of silence.
The beta was "supposed" to have come about in the first week of August. Now, in mid-September, I'm seeing alot of people already walking away (myself included) because the current situation and the increasingly pressured speculation as to what is causing it is really starting to suck the fun out of the whole thing.
Enthusiasm is transforming and folks are starting to step away before it becomes some resentment.
I can only assume that the level of interest has made the developers keenly aware that the beta is going to be a showcasing of the product so they're....
...there I go again...
...stepping away
...stepping away
Hey, hey. Suzie Ford, stop getting my hopes up. If the game isn't due out for more than a month, don't count down using units of weeks. Anything more than a month should at least be counted using measurements of months. God.
"After all, the game is due out within weeks and so much is yet unknown."
Seems MMORPG thinks it is coming out this year, and if this is true with little or no public beta... I think I will be waiting until it has been out for a few months as this does not bode well IMHO.
I was very excited until a few things happened.
1)Producer opened his mouth and said it would be a F2P, just for Sony to turn around and make it a P2P (Don't really mind this much since i play P2P's)
2)Animations,combat stance & mobility in combat situations during screening of the game (Left a really bad taste in my mouth)
3)Finally customization was said to be expansive but they are now saying it will be limited with the ability to earn and receive costume pieces as you go (Now coming from CO this is a no go for me, i just simply love the opportunity to create my own unique characters off the jump)
So I'll pass on it until i see some solid reviews and a couple of my guild's spread the word on it.
I have a thing I follow now with mmorpgs: try before you buy, I bought Aion and relised it was crap wasted money on it -_-. so now I won't touch a MMORPG without some form of a way to try it first, even beta is fine it'll give me an idea how the game will play which is all I need.
"An MMORPG could be completely diffirent from WoW. Just look at games like Dofus, Wizard101 or EVE. But as it is, most of the Western MMOs are trying to succeed by out-WoWing WoW. It's like an army of 10 sports games made about same sports, and barely none about other sports. WoW clone is an accurate description of those games, it manages to convey much information with only two words."

Rift: World of Warcraft clone #9321 Nothing special to see here move along.
Maybe SoE has learned their lesson. Over hyping games only to release them early and have them fail...I can't wait for this game and I hope all this "keeping us in the dark" is going to leave us nicely surprised
I am sure the controversy of them being quiet is better than saying something that gets twisted about in the forums. If XYZ feature is causing an issue, it's better to play mum than have the trolls screaming 'I KNEW IT' 'I KNEW IT'. I would bet that in the next week or so a normal flow of info will occur and all the someday players can give a big sigh of relief.
Could not have said it better me self.
Meant to say DCUO Source community in the post above.
If those interested in the game haven't already, I'd recommend checking the forum out
It appears that $OE is stumbling out of the blocks on the game leading up to launch. First there was the announcement at FanFaire that the game will launch with only around 1/2 of the advertised powersets, and now even that many is in question. They also seem to now be backtracking on the level of character customization during creation. The game is set to launch in roughly 6 weeks, and, after missing the planned date, there has been no mention of when beta testing will actually begin, if at all. Massively's interview with Chris Cao the other day read more like a damage control presser than a status update. My personal belief is that difficulties with the PS3 version is setting the entire project behind.
I still believe that DCUO will ultimately be enjoyed by many DC and superhero fans alike. How long it takes for the game to get to that point remains to be seen. $OE has an infamous history of launching games and expansions that are nowhere near ready, and with or without the approval of its playerbase. (Do I really need to name the major example?)
For the game's sake, I hope $OE does the smart thing and pushes the release date back a few months. With the amount of competition in the MMO market in the coming year, and this game's apparent potential, it would be a silly mistake to release this game before it's ready. If the game does launch as scheduled, I'd strongly recommend waiting a few months and taking a free trial run before buying DCUO.
A console MMO from SOE. I'm not sure why everyone is excited in the first place.
Silence usually means you have something to hide. An unfinished, buggy game perhaps?
