Grab a gamepad and relax!

I just started playing the beta of Vindictus and I must admit the game is capturing me and taking me under it's spell thus far. But I am not a fanboy so I am not going to brag about this and that.

But I couldn't help but comment on this certain aspect. I usually always have my Xbox 360 controller plugged in to my PC at all times, never knowing when I might come across a game that I want to use it with. Of course, I have the Xpadder software handy for those so called occasions, to customize all the controls to the gamepad. And with the gameplay I seen for Vindictus, I thought to myself this might be one of those games, especailly given its arcade action-style gameplay.

Sure enough, upon entering the game one of the first things I did was checked out the Control settings tab and to my amazement, it was "gamepad ready"! It already has gamepad presets available, including one for my 360 controller. Wow! That came as a shocker for me because for one this was only beta and I didn't expect such control scheme to be available. And secondly, I am so use to most all MMO's out there never having any gamepad compatibility control presets. (With the exception of FFXI and maybe a few others) I know most PC gamers are "keyboard/mouse" gamers and never use anything else. I am fond of my keyboard and mouse as well, but there are times when I just want to kick back in my recliner and relax while I am playing on my laptop or what have you. This game lets me have that luxury. And the nice thing about it,  I can still use my keyboard and mouse even if I have the gamepad preset on, because it takes the place as your secondary controls. It's the best of both worlds.

I am not in anyway encouraging people to use gamepads over keyboard/mouse for their PC gaming. So please do not mistake this thread as such. I just thought I would point out the fact of Vindictus offering another way to play and have fun! image

Thats pretty cool, I have one of those Xbox pad reciever things for PC too, might give it a whirl.  By the way, I know that Champions Online comes as gamepad ready and as a matter of fact even shows the Xbox pad icons corrisponding to the hotbar on your UI! Now THAT is awesome imo.

Also noticed that it already had an Xbox 360 controller option. I will be getting an Xbox PC Controller tommorrow and run my pc to my 40 inch LCD.image

I'm so used to keyB/mouse that going to a gamepad would be a step backwards for me. Plus, it's nice to have the option to chat and ask questions without having to put the controller down and reach for something else.

Oh nononono! You didn't just tell people to get a game pad to play a pc game?!

Didn't turn out too well doing that for FFXIV... lets see how you fair here.

I think the difference here is that it's not at all required as it basically was in ff14. I have been playing vindictus wtih my mouse and keyboard and I rather enjoy it, but I can see how the xbox controller would be good (mouse clicking hurts my hands :o)

Oh my, I think I know where this is going...

Please don't turn this into a FF14 topic for the love of all that is just, I think we have had enough forum battles over that game.

I use my Xbox360 (Pc) controller, but there are  still some things that require a mouse.

Agreed. Nothing wrong with switching back to keyboard/mouse when you need to. After all, we are so use to them they have become a natural extension of ourselves it seems, especially as PC gamers. lol

But it's nice to have that controller handy if wanted as well. image
