    It's one quest involving:

running from an NPC just across the road from Buckland on the east bank of the Brandywine river along the riverbank collecting kegs and crates that fell off a shipwreck to the west bank of the Brandywine river in Evendim where you talk to another NPC at the shipwreck, where you:

get told to run back to the first NPC, where you then barter the kegs and crates to another NPC standing next to him for a pirate hat/eyepatch combo, a pirate hat separate, and an eyepatch separate.

    And that's it.

Er, you mean they simply activated the same old Pirate "adventure" they've had since the game came out basically (2007).

But they did add the pirate outfit (not gettable in the quest) to the store for only what, $2-3?. And even the pirate outfit isn't new, it's taken from an anniversary event.

Yeah, I was a bit peeved as I thought the outfit would be a quest reward as well, rather than solely a cash shop item. And I was rather astonished to find out that one simple quest was what they'd term an "event".

I haven't had any issues with lag.  It must be on your end.

No offense, but I hate when people use that excuse. Just because you have no problem doesn't mean noone else does, and it doesn't mean it's automatically on their end. Try reading the official forums lately.

This is almost as bad as zombie stormtroopers in Star Wars.  Turbine just needs to make a generic  Fantasy MMO, call it AC 3, where they can put all this random junk that they clearly want to have, but instead stuff it into the LOTRO universe.

I read the books, and don't recall pirates being mentioned. Can you tell me  where they were mentioned? Perhaps I've forgotten?

Edit: Also, if there were pirates, they wouldn't be sailing pirate ships down the Brandywine River.image

They are in the return of the king, even in the movie. Actually, Peter Jacksson is casted as one of the pirates :)

Most of the time, lag is the result of an issue with the user, not the game.  I hate when people automatically assume it's the game/company.  I've had no issue.  If it was the game, shouldn't I be having issues too?  I had issues last weekend with lag and rubberbanding, but since they have tweaked the servers earlier this week, no issues.  And from the chatter I see in OOC, I don't see anyone else with issues either.

You also seem to forget that there are more than just one server, and they are NOT all created equal in stability.

That's seems unlikely and an excuse to blame the game.  I'm sure what was done to one server to correct the issues was done to all.  To do less than that would be quite ridiculous.

Well, I'll be damned. Been awhile since I've read the books, and to be honest I've fell asleep whenever I've tried to watch the movies. Okay, there were pirates. They still wouldn't be sailing the Brandywine River. They raided and sailed the coasts of Gondor. Plus, I can't really see goody two-shoes player characters (after all, except in MVP, every player character in LotRO is "good") stopping to help raiders.

*sigh* It doesn't matter that they do the same things to every server. Not all the servers perform the same. Some have been laggier than others from the beginning. Some have required more maintenance downtime than others.

What a bunch of B.S. By definition if others are not lagging , it means its your end. Period. The end. There are only two types of lag. lag that is caused by the servers and those that are caused by your connection. It could not be your home connection, it could be a transfer point, but either way, its YOUR end. Stop whining.

No, the BS is the people that sit there and say "I have no problems, so you're all full of shit! WAAAHHH!!! WAAHHHHH!!".

Yes, the Corsairs engaged in  piracy...but so did the Vikings. Doesn't mean that they actualy looked like a bad rip-off of Johnny Depp.  I think Turbine is taking a little liberty with the IP here..... Jackson took a bit as well. In the Lore, if I recall correctly, Umbar was a city of the Black Numenorians.... and I think the ruling classes (who supposedly ran the Corsairs) were at least still supposed to be largely of that bloodline.

Basicaly Turbines MO seems to be using very thinly veiled references (if even those) in the IP to pull in stock, pop-culture fantasy themes... that generic fantasy mmo fans might expect...but which don't really fit the Lore very well.
