There are some things that bother me about pretty much all the races, but as complex as their character creation will be I'm sure that you make your character look pretty much whatever way you want.
IF it won't be changing then there won't be any young heroes ...
And young people wil have to act old according to their characters ...
IF you don't know , don't speak.
Neither do you know, you handsome young jedi, about the extensive character customization that will come with the "finished" version once GW 2 goes live....not just a "alpha" or "beta" version.
I'm sure that you can make your female or male "toon" as young as you like. Heck you might even be able to have your female "toons" wearing uniforms like "Morning Musume" or having really short skirts and long super loose socks.
Sorry, but MILF does not mean ugly. If YOU don't know, don't speak.
Nah, he made them all ebony and the tan and pink came from that. And what's up with that lion ting with 6inch nashers? Stupid dev, i will be playing the reality MMO.
Oh man, thanks for clarification. Best thing about that Reality MMO, the bewbs are real.
And about the MiLF thang, woman > girls, hands down (or up).
Germs, Guns & Steel: The next gen fully interactive, full immersion, full pvp, full loot, hardcore sandbox MMO. So hardcore, it's just like real life because it is real life. Completely free to play but the end game is a killer.
FFXIV is a piece of shit and talking about my posting history ... Have I ever post in the forum once ? because the game is so shitty that I have to go and flame it
Actually GW2 is fantastic ... it's just that the females looks like MIlF in their 30s and the guys looks old also ...
I guess you changed your mind about that CE box then, huh?
It says something about your age (I mean aside from what's in your profile), that MILF = women in their 30s = ugly. I don't know if you're actually just wanting to see busty young teens in your games, not that I really blame you, but most of us old folks are perfectly happy with what you might call a MILF. Hell, some of us are married to them.
The characters of GW2 are basically men and women, not boys and girls. It's the aesthetic and it won't be changing. If anything, the textures will get cleaned up a bit. But you could hold out for the young and naive Sylvari, although you might well blow a gasket at the thought of smexy plants. Can't hurt to look though, can it?

We need bishounen bishoujo and handsome character with beard and cool hair ... wtf is wrong with that guy in my screenshot ... ancient ages don't have gel or wax and if they gel they would do better hairstyles than that
WTF is a bishounen bishoujo and why do we need it?

And it is basically why we have all these little boys running around these days trying to look like women. My gym is full of them and it is an embarrassment to the male gender. My gf has two employees whom I have met and she still has to convince me every time I see them that they are hetero (not that I care either way but it confuses me greatly that they talk and act like girls, dress metro and are skinny as rails ... but date them as well).
I am in no way trying to start a whole other debate ... just stating facts and obvious influences from popular culture.

The character models looks just fine.... But am i the only one who's bothered by the completely blank stare of the human characters? I'm not asking for Half life 2 facial animations but i'd expect at least a little bit of a frown on that ranger in the last screenshot...

Hes consintrateing. if you are trying to stay alive you dont consitrate on frowning you remain calm and put up your defense, which he is doing, bounceing all the attacks back "and thats how its done"

That's a load of crap. It would help a LOT if the characters had facial animations. They aren't even hard to do, considering they put them in for the emotes. Why can't i look angry when i swing a sword? Or have a feeling of satisfaction on my face after a healing potion? I mean it's a little thing, bit it help a ton for the immersion.

I agree....people do make those emotions when they concentrate...so if you want to make the game realistic they obviously should put it in. when you fight you feel emotion, and this is shown in body language and exspressions...that's how humans work...>.>
80% of our communucation is without words.
-----*edit*------
i'm kinda expecting them to change this for the better in the next 6 months...we shall see. also, note that when you fight you will see your character from behind, so it won't be a troublesome factor.
It's kinda cruel to kill the innocent monsters standing in the fields picking daisies. -GW2-

Also, you must look at it from a game designers point of view. Human expression is notoriously difficult to reproduce (ie. the uncanny valley). Most games typically go on the side of cartoony to more easily express personality. The more real one gets the harder it is to not look plastic or creepy.
Many think anime is superior when it comes to expression but fans have become so accustomed to it that they forget that typical anime is frankly an abortion of reality. I simply cannot stand anime style of characters with extreme eyes, legs and other distortions. I did when I was a kid but now I see it so popular that is distorts perception on social levels within cultures (as in Japanese drawing themselves as caucasians for decades) as much as runway models do in the fasion industry. It isn't needed these days and I just find humans with legs taking up 80% of their length grossly distorted anyway.
If you look at games like WAR where they try to be more realistic and less cartoony you see goblins and orcs with amazing personality yet humans and elves horribly gibbled. GW2 may address this better but we will invariably see elements of this at the level of realistic detail they are putting into the game.

I don't really mind the character models too much. They fit the art style and are certainly customizable enough to make most people satisfied, I'd think.
I agree that the facial expressions could use some work, but that's not really something I expect to be too realistic in an mmo. WoW for example changes your character from happy-go-lucky smile or blank face to horrible death scowl while in combat, and shifts right back to happy-go-lucky smile or blank face the second combat ends. Most mmos I've seen only do that much at best; it's kind of unrealistic to expect a complete simulation of human emotion.
That said, a few more expressions would be nice, but the characters are by no means "ugly" imo.
