LOTRO EU ftp confusion?

Professor78Professor78 Member UncommonPosts: 611

Hi,

I have been a subscriber to LOTRO twice in the past, last time was about 6 months ago. And Payed monthly.

I downloaded the game ready for the FTP in EU, and then they say its going to be delayed. So, I try to log in anyway.

And I have able to log in since, All my old charactors are still there and the gameplay seems totoal unresticted.

Checking my acount status on cogaccounts it says "closed" , and there is also a trial section that says 0 days until trial expires.

So I am kinda confused. Is this even a FTP server???

I am logged onto Everbright atm.

Cheers.

Codemasters where unable to have the F2P release ready in time for europe. Since that made the european population less than happy they decided to something like a extended welcome back weekend till F2P launches in europe too. All expired accounts are able to log in currently, even old trial accounts, and your not required to keep a subscribtion to be able to play.

As soon as Turbine is done stealing lots of Codemasters players from Europe F2P will launch over there.

And yes this is why it is delayed over there. Turbine wanted to gain every person they could so they have the F2P-book 2 here on there servers while Codemasters  does not get it at the same time. Turbine wanted to steal codemasters potential new F2P players, and steal the people "on the fence" on wether they want to continue player on the EU servers or switch to Turbines.

Also might have to do with getting the righs back so they can do the same as DDO with EU NA players all on there NA servers. Their plan of creating lots of anger towards Codemasters from their players worked really well.

Maybe so, but ironically, you currently get much more out of the game as F2Per on the Codemaster servers.

On the CM servers, new players get all the quests, deeds and traits up to level 50, 5 character slots, 5 bag slots, full trait slots,... all for free.

And some of these advantages can be kept (for free) even after the LotRo store arrives.

nOObs.....FTP is file transfer protocol and F2P is free to play.

Have to admit that I fell in love with the game again, last time I played was about a year ago or so.

Now, in Europe, all those who have bought an account at some point, are capable of playing the game, unrestricted, all areas, all classes and such.

Only thing I'm still confused about what will happen when it goes F2P, as I have MoM bought. I wont have all SoA content I suppose? Bleh.

I'm also confused on how it's going to work.

I have a codemasters account with LOTRO in it. When i try to login it states that my account is not active (understandable as i have no active subscription).

For the ftp ... do i need to register with lotro europe? it asks me for a product key which i unfortunatly can't find ... i can't even remember if i bought a box or a digital download, it's been that long ago :)

You should be able to log in with your LotRO EU account aslong as it is active(not banned) and your password is right. F2P is not live in EU and won't require a product key when it goes live.

Make sure you have the EU version of the client, check your account details on https://cogaccounts.codemasters.com/ and verify everything is ok.

Schweet, installed the game and can log in with my old account for free. Nice touch from Codemasters to compensate for the F2P launch delay.

Meh, now I have to buy MoM though since I was primarily interested in rolling out a Rune-keeper. Looks like it's going to be the only way to get the new classes even after LotRO goes F2P.

With F2P its afaik possible to buy the classes individually.

Humm, after examining the F2P table this might be the case after all. Premium classes are marked as "Purchaseable" and the * reference text does sound like it implies to a previously acquired MoM: "Purchasers of the Mines of Moria™ expansion get access to the Mines of Moria region and content, premium classes (Rune-Keeper and Warden)".

    Yummy.

Edit: Found a shop pic for proof!

I tried to log in to the client with my lotro europe account  (turbine) .... says subscription not active. On the account website of turbine lotro is not listed for me.

I checked codemaster account ... lotro is listed there, but not active (not paid).

So i guess i just need to wait till europe goes F2P .... will i still have my old characters? ... i do not want to quest through the shire again ;)

Is there any way i can tell if i have the EU version installed ? ... don't remember where i got it from.

The "Account" button in the launcher leads you to the Codemasters account site if you're sporting the EU client version.
