As for the next line in nintendo/sony/microsoft consoles I have a feeling that they're gonna ride on the current generation as long as possible. Sony and Microsoft, at the very least, lost a huge amount of money when the current line up of consoles launched. I know this is typical, but it was much more substantial this go around. That along with the current popularity of these consoles I don't think any of the comapies see it being profitible to release anything "new" for at least a few more years.
Sony and Microsoft have spent too much money, and have been outsold by Nintendo for too long. They're not even close to releasing new consoles, because they still haven't made the return they need on their current investments. They're both hoping that the new motion controls will help with that.
Nintendo will likely be the first out with a new console. They made money on the Wii from day one, and it is estimated that production costs have gone down by 40% since the initial release.
They spoke recently about the new console, nothing concrete, just a little teaser saying that it will be revolutionary. They said that about the Wii... and they were right! Will they deliver again? We'll just have to wait and see, but I think chances are good. They have plenty of room to improve, as far as graphics are concerned... whereas Sony and Microsoft are going to struggle to put out anything that performs significantly better.
Well, rumors say that Wii will get an upgrade soon. I doubt they will call it Wii2 however, it is just a upgrade to the machine with faster processor and some more ram if what I heard is true.
PS4 and Xbox 720 wont show up for a few years yet, not even Microsoft can afford spitting out consols every few years, they costs a lot to make and we havn't seen all they can do yet either.
It is as with the old C-64, games looked crude in the beginning but devs learned how to get out everything it could eventually and the games looked a lot better. Killing a console too early isn't really a good idea, the devs of the different games are just learning how to truly use the potential.

Wii is a cheap childs toy with maybe five games adults could enjoy without feeling embarassed that their playing them.
The buzz around the industry is 2014-2015 depending on how popular Move/Kinect & 3D are.

I say around 2014 for the next gen.
Sony or Microsoft (can't remember which) said that Rage from id Software is the first game to finally use all of the power that their system has to offer.
The President of Activision has stated that no company has a new console in any significant stage of developement, and cites as evidence the fact they have not yet been told to begin developing games for it. A triple A title now takes several years to develope, and with each new console that is getting even longer, so I think that's a good indication that you're estimate of 2014 is a pretty good guess.

Heh.
Any actual information other than a 3D model of a possible concept?
^^ Now that made me LOL.

Nope, only joining for the fantasy picture.
There is no official information available for the next-generation consoles anyway.
Released date is set three years after the world ends...
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP

I vote the Wii 2 should be called WIV.
And seriously next gen consoles with have a port installed in the base of your skull to jack in.
Proof
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
If motion control & 3D take off then we will be playing in this generation for a very long time.
RAGE is amazing looking I wouldnt mind graphics being that nice the next five or so years.
