All of china is going to be hosted by a chinese company. They will have their own set of servers to play on, and will most likely be IP blocked from the NA/Euro/Japan servers.

Under Chinese law I dont think there is an option other than this. Same issue Bliz has with the Chinese market, they have to go through a Chinese company to host thier game there as well.

Could this be one of the reasons SE implemented surplus? To comply with Chinese views on MMORPG'ing, to make sure FF XIV would be ready from day 1 to be sold in China? (arguably one of the biggest MMO markets in the world)

Guessthe only thing that helps against goldfarmer is to actually keep the price fpor the game high and ban all that use tehse services or well are goldfamers.

you know its a myth that all rmt is from china, alot of it is lazy people in the united states. they say theyre selling rmt, people put in cc numbers to buy and whammo they steal your cc and charge off extra accounts, you buy powerlevel and they take the account.
the chinese rmt when they did have some running in past games, actually sold cheap currency. but people from non 3rd world nations jumped right on the bandwagon and have been robbing suckers that dont follow the games rules blind for years now. do you really think the guy selling you 1 million whatevers in game for 50 real dollars is not going to rob you if he can?
It’s funny but that’s how I payed for FFXI for over 8 years not to mention buying the expansions. I miss those days of rusty cap and moat fishing.lol
Don't worry though the Chinese RMT will be around like they always are. They have their ways and work arounds, plus they will be scamming and hacking accounts.
