Is 512 mb ram good enough to play it? I heared from some people you need at least 1000 mb ram

You can still play the game with 512 mb ram..... but the thing is be ready to experience a LOT of performance lag (comp grinding). As long as you don't mind the game stuttering at times then you should be fine, but to play the game smoothly you will need at least a gig of ram (which is why everyone says to have at least that amount).
And what if you shut down all of the graphics options?
Its still kind of.. choppy. i upgraded from 512 to 1.5 gigs and its much better, i can run the game on highest detail without vid lag.
9600 256 mb g card
2.8 proc (intel p4 w/ HT)
1.5 gigs
