Download and run the official benchmark. Pay attention to what the ratings say next to them. When they say it will run on low setting or that your PC isn't meant for it, believe it.

I have seen benchmarks from similiar rigs and you should be fine. You may have trouble running on High settings but standard to low should be fine.
Run the benchmark if you score over 2k on the 1280x720 res then you will be fine. There is a config program and ingame video settings you can tweek to up your overall performance. You just might miss out on some of the higher end graphic options.

Take any benchmark with a grain of salt imo. I barely squeeked by on their test, but ran the game well at med/high settings.
My system is worse than yours and runs it
(2.4ghz, 4gb, gtx260, vista64)
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
Um you should be able to play the game at max graphics (excluding ambient occlusion of course) with no problems. My system is worse than yours and it runs it on max graphics perfectly fine.
What exactly is your CPU though?

and my game looks like...
with a frame rate of around 40.

I have seen that place in other screenshots. Looks absolutely fantastic. Hope it's as large and mysterious on the inside as it appears from a distance.

Good to hear it buddy, I'll be right there with ya. Probably not on the same server (Besaid here), but still playing the same game none the less.
oh by the way my cpu is the E8400 core duo @ 3.0 ghz
i was able to play the beta with 3.0 ghz, 2 gigs of ram with Vista, and an old NVIDIA Geforce 8600 GT card.
i had lots of slowness issues, but it still ran fine.

If the benchmark stops responding after I hit START does that mean I cant run it?
i get 2.5k to 3.5k from high to low , and knowing the benchmark is probably not optimise how is it good?
