Question about Combat

Hey everybody, i have never played a FF game before but am interested in FF 14. But my question is that in every video i see the combat seems very slow and there is like a long pause in between each attack. Why is there that pause or is it just that slow in between attacks? Just wasnt sure if i am missing anything. Thanks

Obviously in the game when your doing it, it feels faster.
You have a stamina bar that constantly refills, as long as you have enough stamina you can use the attack.
Take Pugilist, Heavy attack is like a 4th of the bar, light is about a 5th. Special attacks take less than that because they use TP that you build up from those two attacks.
