Here is a large reason why stores like Gamestop have a small PC section. Everyone loves to download!

Honestly, I hate downloading games. It takes too long and I don't have a hard copy I can store on my shelf.
But, the only reason I download games is because stores like Gamestop don't sell very many PC games and I don't like going around to 19 different stores to find a game or a version of a game that I want to buy.
It's sad when WalMart probably has a bigger selection of games than BestBuy or Gamestop. The only store I've ever seen to beat out WalMart on a PC game selection is Micro Center, but we don't have those where I live.

I hate not downloading myself. I haven't bought a physical copy of a game (that wasn't for a console since those haven't started that yet) for years.
Literally if there isn't a downloadable version of the game I don't even play it. And there have been a couple of games that I planned on trying and then saw there was no way to download and just went "Oh well, I'll find something else."
It won't be that long in the future where people don't have physical copies of any games. People already mostly do digital downloads of music. Next will be games and music. People who hate that will have to accept it eventually.
I always try to download because the box does nothing but sit on my shelf and collect dust after I am done with installing. Steam is great for this because when I bought a new pc I obviously lost all my games. All I had to do was re-install steam and start downloading again.
I used to enjoy browsing the boxes in stores when there would be shelf upon shelf of them. Slowly over time the PC sections have shrunk to the point where i very rarely set foot in those stores anymore and just use sites like D2D and Steam nowadays.
If the selection was still there i'd be hapy to go physical shopping for games again but sadly i'd say that's now a thing of the past.
