Coming soon in an update to the Mobile Armory app available in the iTunes App Store (http://itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/M...321057000&mt=8 ) and Android Market, this new feature will allow all World of Warcraft Remote subscribers the ability to chat with their guildies right from their mobile device. Access to the guild chat feature is included for no extra charge in the $2.99 World of Warcraft Remote Auction House ( http://www.wowarmory.com/wow-remote.xml ) premium monthly subscription. In addition, soon after the launch of the mobile version we're planning on adding the ability for premium subscribers to use Guild Chat through any browser on the Armory website.
Guild Chat will allow you to chat with your guildmates via Guild Chat, Officer Chat, and Whispers. Now you can stay connected with your guild or update them from anywhere if you're going to be late to a raid! Stay tuned for additional information about this service and the upcoming Mobile Armory Guild Chat beta test.

this and i agree
Cash grab pure and simple. There's no defensible reason to charge a monthly fee for access to such a simple API that was very likely written in an afternoon. There's virtually no additional upkeep required to keep such a feature maintained beyond the infrastructure that already exists as part of the normal monthly subscription of the game itself.
Oooops Boby Kotick did it again
RIP Blizzard
We need a MMORPG Cataclysm asap, finish the dark age of MMORPGS now!
"Everything you're bitching about is wrong. People don't have the time to invest in corpse runs, impossible zones, or long winded quests. Sometimes, they just want to pop on and play."
"Then maybe MMORPGs aren't for you."
Picture says it all ^^
Veritas Vos Liberabit- The truth will set you free.
And Guild Wars 2 will do it for free! Freaking AMAZING!
BOOYAKA!
They aren't bastardized by Activison :-)

Yea, I must remember that sad day when Acti & Blizz became one. Sad day. Sad day indeed.
BOOYAKA!
Personally I think this is a good thing for big raiding guilds and the hardcore who tend to base a good chunk of their social time on WoW. No more "Where the hell is he, he was supposed to be here and main tank!" Now they can hop on their phone and say they're in traffic or w/e. Plus if you don't like it, don't pay for it. I for one am happy to see MMO's feature sets expanding beyond the computer more and more.
Wildstar:
Phantazm, Pago(PvP), Exiles
Guild: Socks with Sandals
Playing: Wildstar
Retired/Tried: DCUO. The Secret World, Darkfall UW, Darkfall, Mortal Online, DDO, Rift, Fallen Earth, Aion, APB, EQ, EQ2, PoTBS, WoW, WAR, SWG, CoX, Vangaurd, CO, GW, EVE, DAoC, LotRO, SW:ToR, GW2, Dragon Nest
wow really
Very nice pic.
Fee doesn't apply to those that already have AH.
However, if its part of the AH mobile package, it may be due to the fact that its is not all that successful so they are trying to improve its financial output.
True, it was a sad day. Just when you thought those arrogant people at Blizzard were bad by themselfs, they went and merged with Activision......who's arrogance knows no bounds. (Don't get me wrong I enjoy their games but you can't deny how they treat people.)
Anyway.......

Activision needs to get flushed away the sooner the better! Maybe some aliens will visit Koticks company cause the guy is a monster!

While I laugh at the money grab, I am not too surprised.
I expect more and more APs to be developed for MMOs during the work hours.
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
I need to find a new game genre to occupy my interests....
No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-
Ah good to see the usual ppl chime in with their negativity towards all things Blizzard.
I can see this of use to some more organised guilds for say the GM and officers it's free to all thoughs that currently use the mobile version so technicly it's free.. Blizzard has not taken away somthing that exisited and put a price tag on it.
Bottom line if you feel it is worth the fee then use it else don't.
Imagine if this was free, spam would explode, fee keeps the low lifes away
Don't you need an ingame account to access these services anyway? I'm not seeing where $3 is keeping so-called spammers and low-lives away.
Also; why don't they just include these extensions in the monthly fee? They'd get a lot of good press out of that...
And the usual people jump to the unwavering defense of Blizzard.
And this feature being free wouldn't do anything regarding spam or low-lives... it's guild chat only. If you're in a guild with idiots that would spam or otherwise harass you, why are they, or you, in said guild?
The old "Blizzard is a company so they're justified" excuse is laughable at best. I always get a chuckle when someone actually jumps to the defense of having to pay more for something when they're getting extremely little in return.
You know, there was a time when consumers actually cared about getting the most value and quality for their money, and companies actually treated their customers like people, and not cattle to be milked.
I actually have a funny story about this. See, I told everyone in my family that I am boycotting anything Blizzard and Activision. So my mom bought me SC2 for my birthday and said;
"Ignore the politics and enjoy the game. I know how you love to play Star Craft."
So I said, "Mom, you never crossed a picket line".
She just snorted then laugh.
Ready for GW2!!!
I used to post and read this board more often. But it is sad it what it has become.
This is not a new money grab. It is a FREE ADDITION to what they are already charging $2.99 for. I am far from a Blizzard fanboi but at least I have reading comprehension skills.
Hate makes so many of you blind. They have been charging $2.99 for the AH service for a while now, this was added for free.
Nothing to see here..
Don, isn't that the point though? If you just wanted to use that feature you still have to pay the $2.99 per month. If you already have the charged AH service then yes it is a nice bonus. However, it still isn't free. Part of the issue is that other companies aren't charging for these extended services, but Blizzard is.
I actually think its cool if it lets you talk to guildies like you're all on vent. If people can't talk back I think its lame.
Too lazy to read the story, so I hope someone fills me in.
The cow will be kept milking till the cow decides to move to greener pastures where it's milked less or not at all.
I greatly dislike WoW, but I don't see the huge problem with this. I would gladly pay $2.99 for this service. It's optional and not required. Sure Blizzard is using it to make money, who cares? That's what companies do.
I have a busy life and can't always be on the computer, so being able to keep in contact with guildies would be cool from wherever I am.
I guess I just have too much money laying around. $2.99 doesn't seem like a huge deal to me.
