The NPC has a typo in its dialogue, the one about how you shouldn't cry about how Gridania's reputation for peacefulness is overrated, but now I realized it must have really meant something else, how I shouldn't cry about how Final Fantasy XIV is apparently so overrated... after all, it has a typo in the NPC dialogue!
OH, WHAT A FOOL I'VE BEEN TO DECLARE THIS GAME COULD EVER HAVE ANY MERIT.
Or something like that.
Personally, I'd have gone with something like this for a screenshot to sum of FFXIV (borrowed from MisterSr here):
But hey, people become overfixated upon what they become overfixated upon.
Troll much?
Is that a screenshot or a frame from a CGI trailer?
If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1000 MPG - Bill Gates
That screenshot isn't really that impressive. Looks like a picture shoved in the background, no life to it atall.
I'm not really a fan of the graphics. Yes they are good within about 10yards of your character but past that it's all still and boring.
Yeah, it seems like there is a lot of really neat things in the screenshots, but can you actually run up to them and interact with them or is it all just back drop?

I didn't take it, but I've seen enough of the game to know that's in game screenshot, as I've seen many a sight just as majestic during beta.
not sure what everyone else is talking about. All I got out of that screenshot is that every guy that plays the game will be playing a miqo'te with exposed chest region.

There is one thing about FFXIV that I found very impressive is there isn't many backdrop. Everything you see, you can actually run up to them. They are actual 3D model and everything. Like that screenshort, in beta, that city is closed, but in release, you can actually run up to in and enter the city and everything, even without any loading at all. There's no background, they are actual 3D render objects.

I think I heard this will be a dungeon instance. It's pretty much like the run or flight getting to Utgarde Keep in WoW. Something meant to be seen well before you get there.
If you start in Ul'dah or Limsa Lominsa you'll be able to see ths right away. You'll start in a large city and be able to walk out into the zone hunting, and still see that city sparkling far off into the distance. Zoning is mitigated between a few (5?) gigantic areas, I never had to zone to enter a dungeon or city, so you'll have an uninterrupted view from pretty far out. That's how I knew that screenshot was no backdrop or cutscene, I'd witnessed this in many other ways already.
And yes, there's a lot of walking. Fortunately, you can telepot in a point-limited fashion to eliminate the longer walks.
Oof. Protip: apparently the over-exaggeratory fashion I expressed myself in my original post on this thread went beyond he threshold of appropriately civil discourse set by moderators here, so don't emulate it.

So, cropped background images gets all of your fancies? I've seen much more entertaining and immersive backgrounds in World Of Warcraft. But, that might be because its a better game.

beta much......
I took that like 2 days ago and the game comes out tomorrow so . . .
I was referring to the actual content of the quote as well, not just the fact it has a typo.
That would mean the release client still isn't available now wouldn't it?
Not sure when it became common belief that every single error in beta is fixed as they go.

Don't worry Okor, the humor wasn't lost on everyone.

That's a screenshot of Ishgard and it's not from any trailer or cutscene.

Is the pointer located on the side of her breast done on purpose or just coincidence? lol
Which Final Fantasy Character Are You?
Final Fantasy 7

Good to see a few people got it and didn't immediately assume I was trying to troll lol.
Pure coincidence lmao.

Two or three minutes, if there are no invisible walls in between. But I bet you need to walk around ten isles to get there

So don't cry to mommy if the game doesnt live up to the...moderately low expectations...okey dokey.
Drop the next-gen marketing and people will argue if the game itself has merit.
I'm glad to see that even the graphic is a pea brains filter.
Yup, the best graphics in any MMO up to now still aren't good enough... oh boy.
No, that would be Aion. FFXIV has great immersive graphics, the best of any MMORPG.
You obviously never played Hello Kitty Online.

Good point I have never once, in my entire life, seen improper grammar or typos in an American MMO.
Never.

It looks like a terribly long run to that castle without bunny hopping to keep me entertained.
Forever looking for employment. Life is rather dull without it.
