Ok, so does this work the way I think it does?
There are 1500 quests, lets approximate 15 to 20 at each 'level' from 1 to 80.
Assuming there are about three zones at each level, it might mean there are about 5-6 dynamic quests per zone throught the full 80 levels of the game.
Each dynamic quest presumably has multiple locations; relocates; etc...
Sounds like plenty of content unless you keep making a dozen characters and stay in the same zone forever.
If it does work like this, I am quite impressed.
Ok, the '3 zones at each level' I said above might make no sense; but regardless, 1500 seems to be plenty of dynamic quests.

I think you could still stay in the same zone and still level to 80 the whole game. Once you reach a certain level it level scales you down to the area so you would still get xp and rewards.
Probably be hell slow though to get to 80.
Hmmm I wonder if they will have acheivement based on how many times you kill an epic boss. You could keep killing the shatterer all the way to lvl 80 I guess if this works.. You might get a title "I killed the Shatterer 50 times and all I got was this crappy title".
Speculation only though.
Nice to have the option to stay in a zone if you like, but....
I want to see a game where you can level a character from 1 to 80 more than once and see different quests.
The dynamic nature of gw2 quests might make that possible.
I prefer seeing new quests over repeating old quests.
The dynamic events probably aren't the only way to advance your character. You have to include the personal storyline, dungeons and possible rewards from the Mists.
You guesstimation is not very well founded.

Unofficial event names in 1 zone. I believe this is a 60-70 zone with 60 starting at the top and progressing to 70 at the bottom.
Just sayin'
Thanks for that map; It looks Amazing!
I seriously am hyped for guild wars 2. Everything I have read suggests the game will rule!
The dynamic events are what elevates the game above others, if I dare say it.
An actual 'evolution' of how an mmorpg can handle 'quests'
If the crafting ends up robust I will be tempted to try that as well.
Thought I heard in an interview that they were using linear progression. In other words, it will take you no more time to go from 79-80 as you will 1-2. Also heard that since they aren't charging monthly, they aren't concerned about how quickly a player levels, and that it will be a good deal faster than most MMO's.
Could be outdated info...
Also lots of the dynamic event quests chain and if you fail an event then it will chain off in another direction. So you could technically play through the same event chain multiple times and get different quests each time depending on what you passed and/or failed.
Close but they corrected that info. The leveling will plateau. In other words, leveling from 1-2 will be very short and quicker than leveling from 9-10. But leveling from 79-80 will be about the same as say 49-50. So the leveling curve overall will plateau.
Oh, I should note that this is the map before their panel at PAX added about 5 more events in the lake area.
Also, this is presumbly only the events they have designed/implemented at this time. They more add more as development continues.
Like that image posted, there might be around 20 events per region, depending on the size of the region, but yeah.
Plenty of content nonetheless.

There is 1600+ atm, they said it in an interview.
Wow!
Nice map pics, thanks! I like how you can see how some events link to eachother in a chain, you can see how they cover a large stretch of an area,

What are the numbers for? Coordinates?

The numbers are just a way to number the events.

The Event names are temporary placeholders, sometimes to a joking extent.
Also, the letters are obviously for North and South. The numbers are just a reference.
just wanna say for the record that drunken spelunking is usually a bad idea.
The visuals are stunning eg slowly swaying grass and such details, but it's great to see this backed up with some underlying logic of how the maps will/are intended to work. OP: Interesting quick&dirty on the potential numbers... 1500-1600 DEs; 80 Levels ~ 20 DE/Level and possibly a similar number of regions eg 20 DE/level/region??
The maps show how the DEs channel players across the maps rougly. Those regions fit onto the world map are also impressive for size comparison.

Sounds like about the right amount of events at launch, and it is probably simple to add more later too.
I wonder how many personal story quests there are to compare?
Didn't they say there were 1500 events and counting a few months ago? So between now and launch I expect to see that number rise.
I would say they have tools to easily build event chains. So any idea would likely be able to be scripted pretty easily.
The real problem comes in balancing them when multiple chains are running in the same area simultaneously. Thats the sticky part I would imagine due to the nature of these chains being influenced by player interaction the conditions will not always be the same.
