Has Blizzard a secret MMO

zimboy69zimboy69 Member UncommonPosts: 395

Ive been thinking about this for a while

A few reasons why they wouldnt tell anyone about this, according to there figure have in the region 10 million players all paying $10  thats a $100 million a month.

In any terms thats  a lot of money even if they are only earning half this it still a large amount of money so why would they rock the boat.

I started wondering what they would do when a killer mmo comes out or even a collection of mmo  come out and blizzard starts to lose millions of players a month

i dont know who or what game will kill wow or even reduce there numbers but due to the fact graphics have moved on and new game ideas are comming out all the time. The end of wow being at these numbers might take 1-10 more years but at some point it will reduce

They have been lucky that either all new mmos that have been released unfinished and released with very little content or they are trying to be  wow clone

I really am wondering if during the past 4-5 years they have been making a new mmo

It would be more crazy if they havent been making one

lets be fair most good mmos take at least 2-4 years to make  so if that killer comes out  are they going to just going to say oh well we now need to make a new one

think about it this way if you was blizzard wouldnt you be making a new mmo for the time your super mmo dies a 100+ million a month is a lot of money to lose

    They've told us they are.

Blizzard's next MMO or Next-Gen MMO as referred by Blizzard has been in the shadow for years, the first evidence of its existence was a job ad listing in Blizzard's site mid of 2007. Since then, through official sources here is what we know about Blizzard's top secret MMO:

    • It's not going to be a WoW expansion.

    • It will be based on a brand new IP (new story & lore).

    • Several people of the WoW team have joined Next Gen MMO's team.

    • This MMO targets to a broader audience than WoW.

    • Clues from job ads indicate that it will be a Science Fiction/Sci Fi MMO. In the past Kaplan, who revealed he is involved in the project, was asked if the game's genre would be science fiction, post-apocalyptic, or historical, and while laughing he responded: "all of those combined!"" [1]

Check out everything known about Blizzard's new MMO in detail.

It's not a secret when most gamers know that Blizzard is working on a new MMO.

If it's not broken, you are not innovating.

I sure hope they have a different type of MMO in queue maybe a good MMORTS based on starcraft

The name of the game is still a secret. This is so intriguing. Blizzard has just launched SC 2 and still haven't released Diablo 3, and now they're having a new MMO.

Don't get too bent out of shape about it. It'll probably be a year or two before we even start getting details about it, and three or four years before it's released.

the thing that bothers me is the part where they say they are aiming for a broader audience than wow.

so a  game that already had the older playerbase, that then dumbed down the game to get the younger players.....are now going for aliens?

serioously. the only way they can go after a larger player base is if it is a facebook type game.

god I hope it isnt that.

or, gasp, they'll release it on PC and consoles....you know that will suck

How the deal with their games in cuurent times (milking it) is that not an indication to stay away from anything they might make?

I suspect that if that game comes that will take away a large playerbase that playerbase will be gone forever, they might not want to go back to the Blizzard they know now.

If I recall correctly, they already stated they will never do a WoS.

NEWS FLASH! PAYING THE SUB IN F2P = NO DIFFERENCE THAN P2P GAMES!

Why the hell can't the whiners comprehend this?

    maybe i wasnt clear

but if you was bliz wouldnt you have your mmo ready by now incase the new killer mmo comes out

they have had at least a few years  to develope it already  there not short of money

lets say killer mmo is release just before xmas   what they going to do just sit around and wait  for 2 years and play catch up

i seriously have a feeling not only do they have a mmo  but its probably ready for release

but it also means they can keep developing it  in peace and  without any  hassle from  gamers

i also think if a killer mmo is release there would be roughly 6 months from  the killer mmo to the release of bliz new mmo

3 months to see player figures drop  then 3 months hype for the new mmo

Maybe a World Of Starcraft, would catch my eye, as it is Sci-Fi. you start out as either a james raynor's revolutionnaire or as a dominion soldier, both of em fighting the zerg and occasionally engaging on humanvshuman battles. You start out as a stupid civilian with a pistol and catridges of 7 bullets each (TPS type game). Your mission is to go through your colony (formerly controled either by dominion or revolution according to your choices), which was attacked by a big zerg force (this would be the tutorial of course) and get to a place at the other side of the colony's city you live in which is helped by the human side you chose at your character creation to ask for evacuation, along hte way you're given either tips from a radio you found on the streets, or by some sort of installed broadcasting voice in the city for emergencies. when you get to the safeplace you are given a bulletproof vest and the choice of grabbing either a shotgun or a upgraded pistol, after grabbing the armor and weapons the captain tells you he'll send a squad to a nearby bunker to extract some important papers, and asks if you want to help, you can either choose to help, or leave, if you choose to help he'll give you some money and some gloves.

When you finish the initial part of the tutorial, the armored bus that was getting you to the space port is disabled and you get to be in charge with the help of 2 other soldiers of getting the civilians on foot to the space port, this part supposedly teaches you how to scort people, a function needed in some future quests. When you get to the space port, you end the tutorial and are given the choice to be transported to 2 planets, 1 where the fight is against revolution or other where the fight is against zerg.

Of course this is just a stupid opinion of me and it won't be like this nad sounds like a crazy post. Anyways i'm prepared for flamingimage

I'd be down to actually BE a zerg.

Make a 3 faction system like DAoC, throw Zerg, Protoss and Terrans in and I'd be down.

Seriously, you guys are still on about a Starcraft MMO? Blizz has stated that it is a new IP. I've even posted that in this thread.

For 10+ years Blizzard has never made anything from scratch. They have always copied ideas from Games Workshop and everyone else to make their millions. When I actually see something new, which isn't a copy from someone else then I'll believe it. Seeing is believing with Blizzard.

Actually it would be a good move, having it ready standing by, they'd just have to do a few betas and that would take like 5 months max i tihnk. Nice move it would be, in case of an emergency o.o
