Oh, what to do?

I'm level 42 right now and I'm spending most of my time building up my human exotic weapon and armor crafting to be able to make my own items. My skills are at 75 base each now and I'm only doing about 3-4 points a day in each of the two skills, I can't stand to grind any more than that. My goal is 100 (maybe 120 once I get there) in each and then I move onto grinding spellbinding.
Other than that I spend my time doing Gauntlet every day and when my timer is up I do Boots. Nepeth is dead, barely anyone is ever around. Even if there are people, I'm usually out of their level range to fellow with them. I tried doing Lost Company myself twice and got owned badly, hopefully by the time I can craft some decent stuff for myself I'll be able to survive a bit better.
Where exactly should I be hunting now and days? It took me forever to find out I should be hunting at Nepeth, I was still out on Omishan at 40. I guess I bare the consequences of no allegiance or kingdom or friends 
I'm a Sorcerer too if it matters and I really prefer to solo if there are any decent places I could go to solo even if it is a slightly lower xp/hour rate.

I would enjoy becoming your friend in-game, but I'm taking a break from AC2, and I'll be back a few weeks after the expansion comes out.
You probably just need to join a good allegiance. They often schedule big quests that take several people. If you find yourself in a grind, just make sure you explore as much as you can points of interest and dungeons, and make sure you aren't missing any quest opportunities.

I've only had bad experiences with allegiances in AC1. I never found them useful other than for chains. A patron and monarch could provide me with nothing. Plus I usually have no loyalty or friendship with any of the people in the monarchy, it's always been too artificial.

You can do Lodrogs, Icefire, Mage Academy (I think you can do that now) and those are all very xp dandy quests.

Which server are you on? My toon "Dzid" is on Thistledown, and is lvl36 Defender right now. The allegiance I belong to is rather small, but very mature and nicely mixed: the active players are mostly polish, but also greek, english and american. All of them (of us!) are very helpful and some have played since beta, so know a lot about the game. I joined them mainly to stay in touch with my friends (as I don't live in Poland anymore), but got hooked in the game itself fairly quickly, even before my trial expired.

Still 42, maybe 43 by tonight if I can do boots. Crafting each at 80... I'm slowing down a lot now I just can't take all this mining, it takes about 2000 pieces of mined material to gain 1 point. Then there is the cost of buying butchered trait
