Will mouse play be good by the time we log in to play..did they make strides in that department yet for ppl who want to play with a mouse?
I am not sure what gamepad to buy.. I am somewhat thick fingers/big hands and just want the gamepad for this game only... can my new computer with windows 7 support a ps3 controller???? or only the xbox ones???

I am curious as to whether my Razer Naga's keypad will be of any use in this game at all. I am sure if not immediately, over time someone will write something to make it useful. Wishful thinking maybe, but it usually happens even for the more obscure titles...
Since when did the cost of a mouse become part of it's specs and a deciding factor if it would work compared to a gamepad? Would the same exact mouse I bought for $50 from a store play different?
The Razer Naga can be set to work like the number keys on the main keyboard or the number pad. Final Fantasy doesn't use the main number keys for anything of import. If you paid $100.00 US for a Naga you paid way too much. It MSRP is about $70.00. I got mine within the first month of it's release for $60.00.
I take it that they can be custom mapped in game though, so that they can be set to different actions?
If you got a large hand/big fingers I would go with the Belkin N52 gamepad, It has large buttons with good spacing for the palm rest. Just get some extra pads for the bottom of it (it tends to rock back ).
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
Nope. the Naga keys can replicate the number keys only.
You will end having to map all the mouse hotkeys to something else on the keyboard. The FFXIV beta client didnt allow for remapping of any kind on the keyboard only for the controller which I heard alot of people had trouble with.
Best of luck to yea, $10 logitech gamepad works perfect plugnplay for Win7 and FFXIV and the response is acually faster than when I was using my xb360 controller.
Aha, oh well. Thanks for info. I had started to install my PS3 controller on my PC earlier, but had issue with drivers and despite some decent instructions on how to do this my PC started behaving weirdly so I have abandoned that. I need my PC for work and studies so can't afford to nuke it over 3rd party drivers.
My G11 keyboard will do the trick.
First off i was able to use Number Keys to trigger my ability's in the Beta so FF allowed u to use the Number Keys the same way than every other MMo does.
I dont know where u get your info's from regarding the Naga keys but i am able to set whatever key i want on my mouse keys all u need to do is macro it than place it on the Key u want works without any trouble for me.
This is most welcome news. I have become quite used to my Naga in a few other games I play, so would love to benefit from it in this one.
razor + work can't be put in the same sentance unless it's negative
From my first experiences with Razer I would have tended to agree with you. I bought a Razer Lachesis and eXactMat a few years back, and the two just wouldn't work with each other - cursor would just jump around screen. It was insane - high end mouse + mousepad and they just didn't work together. Mouse worked ok on desktop surface, other mice worked fine on the pad... was a total pain and put me off of Razer products for a while. But then a friend recommended the Naga and thus far have had very good experience with it in several games. Plus it works great with the eXactMat.
I got the razer Naga for like 60 bucks a long time ago. It works with any game and worked for this in beta fine.
GAME TIL YOU DIE!!!!
