CCP has announced that the next expansion for EVE Online will arrive in November 2010. Called "Incursion", the expansion will feature escalating attacks of the deadly Sansha’s Nation, hardware upgrades, software improvements, game and fleet battle performance enhancements, and improvements to EVEGate as well.
EVEGate, the web-based social networking platform for pilots, sees improvements and additions such as new forums which underline the importance of organizational and communication tools in the virtual world. The expansion enhances the power of individual choice in the context of meaningful relationships with other players—EVE’s true strength.

I'll say the same thing I say when every Eve "Expansion" comes out. Wake me when Incarna gets here. THEN i'll be interested. Eve's a great game, but the one aspect it lacks for me is a real connection to my character. Let me see my character and you'll have me. :P
EVE gate is not used by anyone that I know of. I dont mean that it isn't used at all, just that no-one I know of bothers with it.
That said, the playerbase has asked for a bug-fix heavy, feature-light expansion. If CCP do nothing but markedly improve lag then it'll be a worthwhile upgrade for the likes of me.
Give me liberty or give me lasers
This is the expansion where you get to create your incarna character. Incarna itself is slotted for Summer'11.
Bit of a tease, I know.
Give me liberty or give me lasers
/agreed 10000%
all else is just mediahounding!
so really, you must play with dolls?
i know alot of people who use EveGate, i use it alot when i am at work. or vacation... well there is only the eve-mails that i use eve-gate for... the facebook style "what are you doing now" feature is plainly useless...
so yeah eve gate = eve mail for me and alot of people in the corp.
i hope you understand that walking in stations will be a "social network environment" no fighting, no shooting, and if you see someone you are at war with the only thing you will see is you avatar make a mad face while looking at him/her.
i look forward for it simply because it will be an alternative to spinning my ship in the station while i do important internet spaceship corp management.

I agree 100%, untill I get an avatar and can walk around in a station I'll just hold off. Its nice that they're "expansions" but they arn't adding a lot of content that is exessable from the moment you log in.
Neither does adding an extra 10 levels in WOW
What sort of content are you talking about?
I've seen posts saying its hard to get into, but like other mmo's you don't get into the harder content without starting at the basics. If its combat its possible to get into it from the very beginning. I don't know if new people are aware of it, but there is a tutorial which you start off with (which is more about how to control your ships), then there are the profession tutorials which is located under the help menu (a button on the left), where you can do things like military, advance military, exploration and some others. By the time you've done the tutorials, you should hopefully be close to finish learning combat skills.
Walking in station will only let you walk around in station, but in terms of game content, there isn't much else. You are still required to go out in the ship and do things. The content will be the same whether they add walking in station or not. If you want to give eve a try, but need help, feel free to PM me (on here). I'll be happy to lend a hand when possible.

Depending on how much time I have after real life, I'll be resubbing to EVE to profit from this. I'm not a fan of Incarna nor a hater, but change can be good.
Playing MUDs and MMOs since 1994.
I have to full agree. The game has so many advanced features when compared to the rest of MMORPGs, however there is a huge lack of connection to a physical character. Starships are nice and all, but for some they just ain't enough.

You guys must think that you will have long planes and hills (make that endless corridors and stairs or lifts) to walk around in a station doing quests from office X to office Y (maybe on of that missions will be "Jetison trash from kitchen in deck 5"). LoL
If you don't like Eve in its current state then you will not last more than two weeks once incarna releases.
The game will always be about spaceships, that will always be its focus.
If you can't deal with that you have many other games to play.

I used to be a big fan of EVE; in beta and after launch for a few years. But when CCP openly started trying to raise funds for Pakistan of all countries, subsequently ended it for me.
First of all, gaming companies should stick to game design and not politics; which like it or not, openly raising money for a controversial country like Pakistan is bringing up politics. Pakistan is a known terrorist harbinger and they continuously threaten other countries with their nuclear capability.
Many long-time gamers know the only true way a gamer can make an impact on a company is with their money; and CCP won't be getting mine as long as they continue to involve not only themselves but try to coerce gamers in raising funds for Pakistan.
So all in all, I could care less about any EVE updates until CCP gets their head out of their rear.
"If you can't deal with that you have many other games to play."
I swear some people never get past using that weak reply. Seems some always resort to that when they don't have an actual opinion to state.
Those looking forward to Incarna are not against spaceships for crying out loud, it's about the fact that EVE has no immersion right now and no depth of character if you are stuck in forced 3rd person view with no attachment to your avatar other than a still pic in the corner of the screen. Truly detailed games pay attention to just that, detail. EVE might as well be another iphone app game as it is right now without any depth to character development.
i know quite a few industrialists who hardly ever undock.. their mad.. but.. for some reason it works for them...
This. People put waaaay to much emphasis on being able to 'relate' to an onscreen avatar with two arms, two legs and an head.
I get the feeling that for the first few months the Incarna 'chat rooms' are going to be full of total noobs who really have no idea of the overarching concept of the game /sigh.
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
A "Fact" that Eve has no immersion? is without depth of character development?
What game have you been playing?
A question. If eve's spaceship play can't keep them, character development cant keep them, Eve's hundreds of gameplay options can't keep them how the fuck will a walking 3d avatar that can't fight or even run keep them???????
Playing: Rift, LotRO
Waiting on: GW2, BP
What? Depth and attachment comes from the real interaction you have with people in your corp and with it's relation to other corps and the community as a whole. EVE is perhaps the most detailed game out there, so not sure exactly which tree you are barking up on that point.
By the way is it so hard to use some imagination to add some flavour to your capsuleer?
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
Yeah, cause clearly a charity service that is supposed to help people that lost their homes in a flood is act of evil and sign of game developer supporting a government you don't agree with. Makes perfect sense.
Even more so, im betting CCP is secretly funding Pakistan's research of nuclear weapons so when the day comes they can nuke you into orbit! How's that for marketing campaign uh?
Surely leaving poor to their own will fix all the problems in the world and won't cause any sort of backlash, especially among the anti-western part of population. Yeah. And events of Cold War in middle-eastern countries made em so much happier cause they got guns to shoot people!
It looks more like a patch to me
^^ this ^^
but hey its free and who am i to complain ,... you know... when its free
Public fleets huh, right and they are going to fix all the abuses associated with public fleets? That is one of Eve's biggest problems right now, grouping with others is a huge risk because other players abuse it so often. There are multiple ways to grief someone once you get them into your group.
Guess we have to wait and see how they address this issue.
"It looks more like a patch to me"
No patch contains this much content. Troll much?
