To whoever was talking about Pakistan...you just made an international effort from CCP to raise funds for kids and women strugglging to survive a political debate aboutPakistan and terrorism.
If CCP should stick to designing games, you should stick to playing them.

WTF, they aren't going to giving any money to Paki dudes? That is so sexist, they need to stick to making games and not hating Paki bros.
If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25 cars that got 1000 MPG - Bill Gates
Public fleets huh, right and they are going to fix all the abuses associated with public fleets? That is one of Eve's biggest problems right now, grouping with others is a huge risk because other players abuse it so often. There are multiple ways to grief someone once you get them into your group.
Guess we have to wait and see how they address this issue.
"It looks more like a patch to me"
No patch contains this much content. Troll much?

If you don't like Eve in its current state then you will not last more than two weeks once incarna releases.
The game will always be about spaceships, that will always be its focus.
If you can't deal with that you have many other games to play.
"If you can't deal with that you have many other games to play."
I swear some people never get past using that weak reply. Seems some always resort to that when they don't have an actual opinion to state.
Those looking forward to Incarna are not against spaceships for crying out loud, it's about the fact that EVE has no immersion right now and no depth of character if you are stuck in forced 3rd person view with no attachment to your avatar other than a still pic in the corner of the screen. Truly detailed games pay attention to just that, detail. EVE might as well be another iphone app game as it is right now without any depth to character development.
A "Fact" that Eve has no immersion? is without depth of character development?
What game have you been playing?
A question. If eve's spaceship play can't keep them, character development cant keep them, Eve's hundreds of gameplay options can't keep them how the fuck will a walking 3d avatar that can't fight or even run keep them???????
Because having an avatar is about more than just that in itself. You are not looking at the bigger picture that full-body avatar's create. And no, I don't consider allowing puberty-frustrated shut-ins who grief miners for the sake of their e-peen immersion. All under the weak guise of an "organized event" named Hulkageddon.
There is very little interaction between gamers in EVE as it is and certainly not even when dozens are docked at the same station. With full avatar's it brings gamers into contact with others in the part of their system for starters. And if gamers can communicate more that way, then it helps them be drawn more into the spaceship part of the game.
I used to be a big fan of EVE; in beta and after launch for a few years. But when CCP openly started trying to raise funds for Pakistan of all countries, subsequently ended it for me.
First of all, gaming companies should stick to game design and not politics; which like it or not, openly raising money for a controversial country like Pakistan is bringing up politics. Pakistan is a known terrorist harbinger and they continuously threaten other countries with their nuclear capability.
Many long-time gamers know the only true way a gamer can make an impact on a company is with their money; and CCP won't be getting mine as long as they continue to involve not only themselves but try to coerce gamers in raising funds for Pakistan.
So all in all, I could care less about any EVE updates until CCP gets their head out of their rear.
Yeah, cause clearly a charity service that is supposed to help people that lost their homes in a flood is act of evil and sign of game developer supporting a government you don't agree with. Makes perfect sense.
Even more so, im betting CCP is secretly funding Pakistan's research of nuclear weapons so when the day comes they can nuke you into orbit! How's that for marketing campaign uh?
Surely leaving poor to their own will fix all the problems in the world and won't cause any sort of backlash, especially among the anti-western part of population. Yeah. And events of Cold War in middle-eastern countries made em so much happier cause they got guns to shoot people!
Have fun being naive about Pakistan's citizen's actually seeing any of that money. Also, don't expect me to reply again to someone who clearly doesn't understand global politics. Like I said earlier, CCP needs to stick to gaming and not politics, the previous poster is proof of that. There isn't enough maturity on these forums for this kind of discussion.

What?
People come 'into contact' with each other in EVE by typing comments to each other and by using voice aps, just the same as in any mmo, whether your avatar is a ship, a donkey or a human. Are you saying that with Incarna you will be using other methods of communication? In game mime acting perhaps?
Your first paragraph was very telling, the mention of hulkageddon and griefers hints at the fact that you don't actually like the game and it's sandbox/everything goes nature and are instead looking for a chat room with avatars.

What? Depth and attachment comes from the real interaction you have with people in your corp and with it's relation to other corps and the community as a whole. EVE is perhaps the most detailed game out there, so not sure exactly which tree you are barking up on that point.
By the way is it so hard to use some imagination to add some flavour to your capsuleer?
No, it's not hard to use my imagination, but being that EVE is in the minority when it comes to not having full body avatars, it is only a matter of time before another company makes another mmo like it but with more immersion than the half-baked attempt at a sandbox mmo that EVE is.
I will be laughing though after Incarna launches and all the haters in EVE will be forced to have avatars despite all their whining about having to be sociable with other gamers in-game. As a result they will see a big spike in subscribers and then they will be back to whining about lag. I don't ever plan on re-subbing, but I will still enjoy laughing while reading the article about it here.

It's been out 7 years and nothing has been released that is in any way, shape, or form similar to it so i'm not sure what you are talking about there. As for "half-baked sandbox", that's amusing coming from someone who seems to deplore the fact is has open world pvp ( a sign of a traditional sandbox) and is only concerned about having an mini version of a human running on his screen to provide 'depth'.
There are plenty of 'sociable' gamers in EVE, oddly enough they get by without the need for a mini-me on the monitor before they can interact with other players.

Not true? Hm, how about they guy who recently scammed an alliance out of 8bill isk? Or the guy who disbanded BoB before that? And of course the circus act that is Hulkageddon which persists only to brainwash more gamers into finding ways of griefing other gamers. In a real-world situation, that kind of piracy would not exist. The only place it exists is in the minds of those attention-starved griefers.

First rule of giving advice is don't. Second rule is don't call someone "son". You don't know how old everyone is on the internet and using labels like that is condescending. Thanks for stopping by though and trying to hand out flowers.

Yes it was very telling, this most recent response of yours even more so. You seem to have a very big issue with the fact that EVE is an mmo that has some real life elements in it's cut throat nature. That there are countless mmo's out there that completely negate the possibility for political intrigue and player scheming seems besides the fact. Some people do not need their hands holding in a game and are more then happy to play EVE for that very reason.
That you originally tried to conceal your dislike of the game via a thread about having IG avatars and proclaiming the lack of social interaction in the game is somewhat ironic. Given that it's the full on nature of player interaction in EVE that seems to make you dislike it in the first place.
As you say, you will not be subbing to the game again, so I wonder why waste your time posting about an upcomming add on for it? There are many games I no longer play and think are total garbage, but I have far better things to do then rage about them.
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
Wow, some really confused posters here. Granted Eve is not for everyone. There is no easy mode and also no instant gratification, so makes a lot of the younger players dislike it. It is also very complex, few MMO players want to take the time to learn a game.
Hey if it is not for you, fine, but don't come here making ridiculous posts about a game you don't want to take the time to learn hence don't have a clue what it is all about.
I do not see what the big deal about Avatars is. So many of you clamor for it, but what does it give you. You spend most of your time in space, not going to see your avatar there. Not going to be any easy mode and the complexity won't diminish. I just don't see the social players getting excited about this game, it does not meet the criteria they desire in a game. Which is fine, everyone should play games that they enjoy playing and meets their needs.
Oh and btw, the aid to Pakistan has nothing to do with politics despite some of your ignorant posts, it is purely helping people who are in desperate need.

You keep missing my point and I'm not sure why you insist on harassing. One of EVE's problems is that EVE's elements are not realistic. For example; the propulsion physics in EVE are not even true to life, so you might want to re-think exactly how many "real life elements" you think EVE has.
I myself have never had any delusions as to the "realness" or lack thereof in EVE. ...The game's mechanics are not even what my post is about anyhow. My original post was about CCP's fundraising for Pakistan and the bad community/griefing/piracy in EVE. So I guess you need to be ignored at this point if you insist on rambling about topics I'm not even talking about.
Not to mention you're wasting a lot of time also by trying to dissect my posts when so far you aren't anywhere near the mark. I have not "concealed" my dislike about anything, I have been very blunt and very clear about what I like and do not like about EVE and CCP in general. So I don't get really why you keep rambling on?
I posted, because I obviously played the game for a long time. So naturally I would be disappointed not only with CCP but the community for continuing to allow the devolution of online gaming communities. This is a public forum in which mmorpg.com posted an article, allowing others to post their opinion on.
I posted my opinion in reference to CCP and the news itself whether you enjoy it or not. I did not post it in order to explain to you personally why. Have a nice night.

Did you even bother to read any of the posts? "There is no easy mode and also no instant gratification, so makes a lot of the younger players dislike it. It is also very complex, few MMO players want to take the time to learn a game." Because you seem to missed the part where I explained I played since beta. So, um, yah, I spent quite a bit of time learning the game, a few years in fact.
And btw about Pakistan, I would appreciate it if you didn't label something someone says is ignorant in general when you have no idea how much they might actually know about something. One might end up making themselves look more ignorant for even saying it. This flaming is far off-topic and the posts need to go back on track.
As far as avatars go, they could easily help gamers make more player-made movies like "Clear Skies" or even something along the lines of "Red Dwarf". There is a ton of uses for the avatars. There actually is more to do in space than fly. American Astronauts for example spend very little time in space flying and most of it being docked at the Intl. Space station, *gasp*.
Incarna is just an added 3d chatroom without any gameplay-features.
Everything else in EvE is still done by flying in a ship. Even the crafting will most likely force you being in your POD, as otherwise you wouldn't be able to make any use of your implants etc. So far it's only been stated, that you can access the map while outside your POD, as you'll be shifted to another system, while not in your POD. It's basically totally untied from the rest of the game and the item-database, which would even mean, that you can't access the market while out of your POD.
As I see it, Incarna is just a test-platform for World of Darkness, so that they can get feedback about their engine.
Some people will have fun to sit in a bar chatting with others, some people will still spin their ships while chatting with others, but Incarna won't change anything gameplay-related in EvE.
You keep missing my point and I'm not sure why you insist on harassing. One of EVE's problems is that EVE's elements are not realistic. For example; the propulsion physics in EVE are not even true to life, so you might want to re-think exactly how many "real life elements" you think EVE has.

How am I harassing? I'm simply responding to your posts with counter arguments, like I am about to do again now..
1. You say EVE isn't realistic, that it doesn't have correct propulsion physics. At first I thought this was a joke but just incase you are serious (which I hope to christ you are not), no game is realistic in that way. It is a game. When I mentioned the parallel with real life I meant the cut throat nature of the game, which reveals how humanity really is.
2. True you have argued about the Pakistan issue, but you have spent as much time arguing about ig avatars, more tellingly the posts that we have been discussing have been about the latter issue. This issue with avatars then turned into a general barrage of anger at pvp and hulkageddon.
3. In your opinion it has, but then that you don't seem to get the FFA pvp aspect of the game and see not having human avatars as a stumbling block makes me think your dislike for the game is unsuprising. Many others do not feel it has been devolving, but then that's all down to personal opinions. That said the fact that sub numbers are increasing should point to the latter group being correct.
You may not have posted your opinions with any intention of backing them up or explaining them, but given that this is an open, public forum. You should not be suprised to come across someone with a different view on the matter and who is willing to question your point of view.
I'll leave it at that we have wildly differing opinions on the game.
Have a nice day.
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
I wish for an EVEGate improvement: Add skills to your skillqueue! Really nifty when you're on a vacation and you have one day when you can go to an Internetcafe of some sorts and add stuff.. No need to download EVE and install, just login and clicky and be off again.

Dont hold your breath. CCP have always been pretty adamant about holding the line on this issue. If you want to set your skill training, you gotta log in. It took them 5 years to concede a 24H skillqueue...
So what your saying is no games prior to 3D first person perspective, have any depth to character developement? That's rediculous.
...As far as Eve goes, character devolpment is about making a name of yourself, and your story in New Eden & the ones you choose to affect. You are your only limit.you make what it is. God that sounded cheezy.
I'll say the same thing I say when every Eve "Expansion" comes out. Wake me when Incarna gets here. THEN i'll be interested. Eve's a great game, but the one aspect it lacks for me is a real connection to my character. Let me see my character and you'll have me. :P

He is used to paying $50 for expansions.

"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
Your posts reeks of righteousness, there is a rule of thumb in life, "there is always somebody better". Bit of personal advice for you there son. You dont know it all!
I think CCP should be commended for their effort to help the affected in Pakistan.
"Come and have a look at what you could have won."
My paragraph was telling? Really. Did it also tell that I have been playing since beta and have gotten tired of seeing the community in EVE spiral into nothing but gamers looking for new ways to sabotage other gamers with their own selfish agendas too?
I am not against violence in games because that is reality, but I am against desensitization and gamers who hide behind the anonymity of the internet to get their kicks at the expense of someone else.

How am I harassing? I'm simply responding to your posts with counter arguments, like I am about to do again now..
