this was a thread withthe OP basically asking if he should get the game and if it was safe to play now.
Well just to tell you, I found funny that nobody told him to rather pass for the moment or wait.
I found out why when I advised to pass and give Xsyon a try.
I got the following infraction and my post was deleted !

I saw 1 or 2 other posts with people saying they had decided not to buy MO, those posts were deleted a few hours later too.
I love the infraction description "do not trying to convince other community members to not to buy Mortal Online."
I mean the thread has been tolerated so the guy asks if he should buy it or not, but people aren't allowed to say anything else but "yes you should buy it its a great game".
Just very funny, don't know if the mods are very intelligent, this kind of behavior is not going to attract new players and it just shows how not confident SV are in MO.

The funniest part of this thread is that you suggested trying Xsyon.
All official game forums have this rule, though most only let you on the forums if you actually play. Seems the mod did the right thing to me.
Well, months ago, I did receive advice not to try the game on their forums. Maybe I was just quicker than the censors.
So, if it is standard procedure to censor less then favorable feedback from posters, where does one go to find out information about a game?
I know alot of forum posters are hate mongers, but if the game can't tolerate certain feedback... Kinda brings the ostrich with its head in the sand to mind. It's just sad.

the only funny thing is that u thought u could advertise other game just like that.. its nothing new games remove advertising and spam messages from the forums.
He didn't get an infraction for advertising other games he got an infraction for saying he didn't like MO.
Theres nothing really harmful about his post, but I guess if you are desperate enough...
Specifically he got an infraction for trying to convince someone not to buy Mortal Online, but if he didn't mention Xzyon I doubt he would have received any warning.
For example if the player asked for a 3rd person themepark MMO and someone said they should play World of Warcraft that person would not receive a warning.

Well, you DID advise them to check out Xsyon. That right there should be a bannable offence on any forum.

Have you played MO?
If you have, you could have given a more constructive answer than "NO, go play Xsyon instead"
If you haven't, then your opinion of the quality of MO is meaningless, and your comments purely an advertisement for Xsyon.
If your argument is that they delete posts critical of the game, I must say that critique doesn't hold water. Just looking at the second post in the thread you refer to refutes your argument.

basicaly you are paying to play an open beta.
there are LOTS of buggs, lots of exploits, lots of broken code everywere. lots fo things that dont work as they should and every patch seems to brake a few more. having sed that it's pretty much one of a kind right now. if you like the basic idea of the game then you might actually not kick yourself for buying the game.
be warned it's not a solo or new player friendly.
if you frustrate easy dont bother. if you like the challange of making do with little then this is the game for you."
That hardly comes across as a resounding endorsement of the game, so apparently 'people [ARE] allowed to say anything else but "yes you should buy it its a great game".'

the post was also deleted and the guy got an infraction for the same reason.
I was wrong to advertise Xsyon, but then again, what about threads where the OP says : should I go play EVE instead?
The OP asked a question, should I buy MO ? if they leave the thread, they should allow people to answer speaking their own mind as long as they are not being rude shouldn't they?

Ahh, then you could have been more informative than a simple "IMO pass on MO, give a try to Xsyon". Your response and the response you cite just answer "no" without giving any information to help Windmill (the OP of that thread) makes his/her own decision. If you read through the responses there are none that simply say "don't buy it", but there are also none that simply say "do buy it" either. The consensus is pretty a recommendation that the game can be fun but that it is still fairly rough and that you should expect to see more bugs etc than in most commercial releases. There are also a couple that suggest waiting at least until the patch of the engine from Epic.
When did you play MO? I'm not saying that your opinion is not valid, I'm just saying that that opinion would be a lot more useful to someone considering purchasing the game if you could give a little bit better idea of your perspective on the game and why you have that opinion.
Forum account can be bound to game account, but they are 2 seperate things. I played using another account from January 2010 to july 2010.
Rules that prohibit bashing the game kind of make sense. If someone makes a thread asking if they should get the game (and their thread is allowed), but the only answer permitted by the mods is "Yes," that's pretty much an example of fascism.
If you can't tell someone not to get the game when they ask, then you probably shouldn't be allowed to ask, either.
As for the OP's actual post, yeah, it was low-content, but it's the reason listed that makes the infraction so ridiculous.
Nobody really says, "Yeah, this game is fun. You should definitely get it," because the game isn't fun... unless you can look past all of its problems, which is what they specified. The most positive posts on there were still saying that the game was full of bugs. The negative ones? Probably all deleted.
